Great camera, bad app!

I so agree with many reviews on this app. It should not be sooooo difficult to access the camera and all of its functionality from a phone. Garmin has a much better setup. Though it’s not always perfect to connect my phone to my Garmin dashcam...it’s far better than this app.
Meanwhile, the Q800 Pro camera is quite nice. Most importantly to me is the impressive image quality and that is why I bought it. However, I guess I was spoiled with the effective connection between the Garmin and my phone.
Pros and Cons, I guess.

Works as expected

I installed a F200 about a week ago and downloaded the app, and it works great so far. Once you connect your app to the dashcam through its own “internet”, you could watch a live view of both the front and rear cameras. I like how I could view and download videos that the dashcam recorded, and even export them to my iPhones’ gallery, all through the app! The dashcam and app work great so far, and I hope it stays that way.

Wifi keeps disconnecting

Hello this is my very first dash cam I have ever bought. The quality is great no complaints whatsoever. However one annoyingly frustrating issue is it keeps disconnecting when connected to my phone through wifi. After a bit of search I realized it has been an issue for a long time? Do you guys plan on fixing it? Because I really really want to like this as a whole package but keep disconnecting from wifi is a major let down for. I’d really appreciate if you guys take action on this

Cloud not working

I’ve had the F800 pro since it was first released and was very disappointed that it’s described as a Cloud device and find this very miss leading. As of July 2019 the only cloud features that work are firmware update via app, speed camera data base upgrade plus geo fence. I got excited when this app release included “Added remote live view function” however again left disappointed as it doesn’t work. Maybe I need to spend another £350 and upgrade to the Q800 F&R to get true Cloud functionality?

What I class as a cloud connected dash cam:
Remote live view - allows user to view the camera away from the vehicle
Incident video upload to cloud - uploads incidents to the cloud for remote viewing

Come on Thinkware you need to do better!

Update: strong impact videos now upload!!! 😁

Hotspot connection

I have followed the instructions exactly and yet cannot get the q800pro to connect in the app through hotspot, either the app freezes, or can’t connect, can’t get the cloud feature to work the app says this camera isn’t registered for this feature when i tried do so online your website says this model must be done through the app when connected in the car, that doesn’t work either, i went with Thinkware because i got a great deal at BestBuy, as previous poster those with Blackvue seem to have easier and more features, this kind of money for dash cams i think should be easier and have more functionality

Glitchy At Times, But Does Work

Honestly I like this app and the camera system I have. The app can be a little glitchy at times when connecting the camera, but other than that I have no complaints. I usually have to force close the app three or four times and then it will finally connect. Once connected I have no issues at all. I even had video evidence that one of my children used my car without my permission and got caught (it is not like the camera was hiding and they just thought I don’t check it often when I do.)

Functional but UK Support is limited. App is buggy

The app is ok, it can connect to my F800 Pro but it seems to be riddled with bugs. It constantly disconnects from the camera every time to try to update the safety camera locations and crashes the app. Does the same when trying to update the firmware.
The most annoying feature is that the database (hosted by cyclops) is massively out of date, i’ve been informed that the thinkware side of the database is only downloaded from Cyclops once every 6mths which I think is appalling.
I have the Cyclops app on my phone and the updates are applied almost immediately.
UK support don't seem to know whats going on as the main support team are in Korea. For such an amazing camera that seems to be at the very top position amongst its competitors, the after sales and technical support is shocking.

I'm Happy There's No Real Cloud Storage

If there had been a requrement to use cloud storage for my dash cam data, I would not have bought the product. Where and when I drive, and in what style is nobody else's business. All cloud data is hackable, and vendors often sell or share uploaded data. Keep data OFF the cloud so it stays secure. As far as controlling the camera remotely with an app -- WHY?

Terrible

After paying all that money for a dash cam which in itself is fantastic however the app has plenty on things missing, connection issues, once connected you can only view videos recorded after downloading them which takes ages (one video on average 10 minutes) which often crashes. Very disappointed and feel very let considering everything I was promised it could do it doesn’t!

Why does this cost a fortune to not be able to view from home.

When I bought this camera system I was told it had a cloud feature. That is a joke! It nearly lets you connect while in the car via WiFi or hotspot. But if I set it up on my hotspot device it says connected to internet, but I don’t know what the point of that is because it’s not like I can get on my app and see what’s going on around my car. False advertising at the max.
