  • What works is great, what doesn’t is disappointing

The basic features are pretty intuitive and easy to use in the gym. The templates are handy but you can’t easily rename them or creat your own names since the user settings seems to have disappeared.

I can’t figure out how to create a superset either while working out or building a template.

I would really like for the app to remember weights and number of sets in the template as I often do the same workout but with different weight and rep combos, it would be sweet to have a “light”, “moderate”, or “heavy” flag for each template/ workout.

And last but not least, the link to app support seems to be useless or at least not user friendly at all.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Finally, exactly what I was looking for!!

I’m a simple guy with simple weightlifting log needs. I want to be able to quickly track various exercises that I can name as I wish, save as a template for next time and without having to view ads.

I have downloaded basically all of the available apps and even paid for a few months on one of the ones that charge and amazingly this app is the only one that actually does what I want.

    Thanks!

  • It is what I wanted

It is my first app store review. I have been found free lifting apps and this app is the best. I love nice design and many useful features: templates and editable exercise list. I want to ask if there is a set or weight saving feature when making templates. It would be great if template saves not only exercise but also set reps, sets, and weight. Thank you for making great application :)

  • Great but needs work

I like this app so far. It’s simple and does a lot of the things I need and or want. The only issues I find are either bugs ( menu not showing up, app crashes, and sometimes it just freezes) or not able to breakdowns of work outs in an easy fashion. I’ll continue using the app but if these bugs don’t get fixed I’ll find a different one. Good job but please fix!

  • Please make an Apple Watch app!

So close to 5 stars! I want to use your app for my workouts but I don’t want to bring my phone and be looking at it! At least something to do a countdown or something. Or I tap a button every time a set is done, and it automatically moves on to my next exercise.

Otherwise I love this app! Fantastic UI and UX. I also have (and love) your other app, the homework app. I didn’t know you created that too! But it makes sense now because I love that one too.

  • Fantastic fitness app

Huge fan of app! The amount of detail and stats your see if fun and keeps you motivated. Would like to see one change. - On the cardio workouts, I’d like the ability to add more information that the default 1-120 sec setting. Nice to be able to add total distance or time.
  • Ever hear of the cloud?

The general functionality of the app is pretty good during my workout. But I wish there was a way to easily and automatically back-up my exercises and workouts to the cloud. I realize that I can export and import data, but this should be automatic.

I know that I can create my own user name, but it’s not password protected. I know that some of my info is leaving my phone because you have a built-in leaderboard.

I want to be able to see my info on multiple devices, and I don’t want to have to create and transfer back-up files.

I’m fine with having my info on your server, Apple’s server or using Dropbox or Box.

Fix this issue and you’ll have a very solid app. I’d even be willing to pay a modest one time fee to use it

  • Easy to use

Great app, easy to use. Wish it could integrate with My Fitness Pal and Fitbit, but since it’s free, I’m happy with it.
  • Needs option for weight-assisted exercises

    Solid app.

The distinction between "body weight" and "weighted" exercises is a bit goofy. I'm especially thinking of Pull/Chin-ups and Dips. Since Zero is body weight, I would get rid of the specific "body weight" type altogether. I think it's unnecessary and confusing.

Additionally, these exercises often offer assistance. So I would allow the scroll options to go negative to show how much weight should be subtracted from your weight. Maybe you'd have another "set format" option when creating an exercise called "Reps and weight (including negative)."

    Developer Response

Those are both great ideas! We will certainly take a look at supporting weight-assisted exercises soon in the future! Sincerely, The Weightlifting App team
  • Exercise Categories / Analytics

An important update will be to track multiple muscle groups per exercise to provide a better picture of which muscles are being worked during a session. As an example, deadlifts is categorized in the app as “back” however that’s not accurate. Breaking the exercise across categories by % for hamstrings, quads, glutes, and back would be more accurate. If you’d rather keep the Exercise categories the same, the concept can be applied in Analytics.
