Yarn Hoarder

I love this app as it’s been helping me organize my personal hoard of yarn, but as I input the same brand 10 times because I support local indie dyers, it becomes evident that it would be amazing if the app could use predictive text for the Name. I appreciate that it’s so helpful with mass produced yarns and J can scan the barcodes and have that work 9(% of the time, but my fancy yarn takes me 3 minutes per skein to fill in, in part because of having to hand type the dyer’s brand information that never changes. (If I were better organized, copy/paste would help, but I’ve got 1 dyer in 5 spots. This is helping me fix that.)

Great app but pro price out of touch!

I love this app it works really well although it would be nice to have a project and then add sections with rows to that project however not that big an issue. Barcodes for adding yarn still doesn’t work but I don’t mind taking the pics of my yarn and adding the details. Their price for their pro version is what has me looking for another app. I wouldn’t mind paying a one time fee of 20 or so but 59.99 is insane or the other option is a subscription fee of 18.99 per year and it’s way too high for either option so I will go looking for something else that does what I need and allows me to purchase a pro version without ridiculous pricing options! Sad that I will lose this app but they are just out of touch with pricing!

Amazing

I love this app, it’s been great as a crocheter who moves between places to keep track of what I own in different places, but I wish you could filter yarns in your stash by different things, such as colour family, yarn weight, storage space etc.

Super helpful

I have adhd and find it super hard to keep track of projects and stitches and rows and with this it allows for me to have one place with everything available to me. Also being able to upload the yarn I have is very helpful because I constantly just buy more because I can’t remember what yarn I already have.

Thinking on buying

I was thinking on buy this app. Everything is has is what i want. But a couple things don’t work. Like the row counter! I expected the total row would change if i click another row. Example I’m working on a cable thats repeats every 8th row so i would click the row. But both the row and the total should increase but only 1 does. I would have to click on both the row and total to increase 1 row. I thought it would sync automatically. And the other issue. I would like to be able to edit the stash location if i were to move a skein of yarn. Other then those two issues i would give it 5 stars.

I have since found that you can link the counter to the main counter. And that is fantastic.!!!!!!!! all you have to do is hold down the counter number and tell edit pops up hit edit and close to the bottom link counters.

Response from developer

Hi there, Is your row counter linked to your total counter? You can check by tapping and holding on your row counter and selecting "Edit." Make sure "Link Counter" is toggled on and the total row counter is selected. I hope that helps! I'm sorry about the stash location issue; it will be fixed in the next update. Best, Becky

Buggy but still usable

I got the free version of this app purely to have a knitting counter I could use with my new Apple Watch. It works fine as a general counter, but having a project set up with multiple counters is problematic. Edits sometimes save and sometimes don't. Linked counters sometimes sync and sometimes don't. It doesn't consistently sync with my iPhone (even when it says it has), and sometimes when it does sync, it doesn't sync to the latest count. I have to manually count my rows to check if the current count is right (and it's right only about half the time). The iPhone app crashes regularly; to get it to work again I have to shut down my phone and restart it.

I would only recommend this for using the single general row counter and forget all the bells and whistles. They're not saving me time because they don't work as they should.

Hi there, I'm sorry you're having a buggy experience! I would be interested in knowing which edits aren't saving, and whether or not the iPhone app crashes in a consistent way (like, are you always on the same screen? Does it happen after you tap a certain button?). You can reach me at feedback@beckyhansmeyer.com. Best, Becky.

Great app!

Big fan of this app for keeping track of my projects. One small issue—I like using the row counter on my Apple Watch while I knit, and the counter doesn’t always seem to sync up with the counter in the app on my phone. I like using a repeating counter linked to a total row counter for my projects that have a multi-row repeat, and there seem to be some syncing issues there with the Apple Watch/iPhone apps as well as between the linked counters. I love all the features of the app, though, and it’s really useful to be able to store all that information about each project. I love that I can upload my pdf patterns to keep them easily accessible.

Best App for Crochet Projects - especially for someone who likes to bounce around multiple projects

Personally I love apps. I love researching apps for a purpose and trying them all.

I had been using "My Row Counter" for a while and it's just never improved and reminds me of using clipart (totally understand small developer issues).

YarnBuddy is just amazing. It's delightful visually and in function. Take a moment to learn to know all the little areas of the app.

I also appreciate the Mac App AND iPhone. I don't like being limited to a device. I love that I can be more efficient especially as a new user, to load my yarn collection details and patterns into the app faster than doing it from my phone.

I love the multiple row counters on a project. (wish I could name my counters, but there is color coding).

* Wish I could add a custom note when uploading a Project.

* Wish I could add a custom hook size if missing on the list (didn't have a 4.25 for crochet option)

* I do wish the filter would STICK to what I set it to (all projects - if you can't find a project you uploaded it will only show based on what you selected: Current, Future, etc.).

* I also cannot figure out if the one time fee or monthly covers both IOS & Mac versions.

yay!

just downloaded this, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! it would be cool if there were pictures of the yarn when we search the yarn database, and if there was a tab to just browse through the database and see projects done with the yarn as well to get some inspo! thank you for making this!! 🥹
