Well done

Keeps you on Route 66, has all the POI's on the way, there are 4 of us using it and we are all finding it great so far. Some of our hotels aren't in the list but others are. Overall we are very happy with it. Well done to the development team.

A must have but it has it’s warts

This latest trip was my second on Route 66 and the first with a dedicated navigation solution. I was actually pretty impressed with the app in that it did a great job of keeping us on the route, displayed well on our CarPlay, and provided excellent waypoint and site information. The navigation had a couple of quirks, like it might pull us off an inter state section to drive four feet of the old road and put us right back on the highway, but the fact that this only happens a few times across thousands of miles is pretty impressive.

The speed limits could be way off, but always erred on the side of caution. Once we figured this was happening we stopped getting honkers behind us. The main issue with that is the time estimates could be widely off. We used this app paired with Apple Maps to get a better estimate of where we may end each day.

I’m going to bring the points of interest back up again because they really are super well done. Better than our books to be honest. They also pop up when you’re driving so you know where to look.

I’m going to list the warts now and these are really only to highlight where the app could be improved. I still suggest all people buy this.

1) for goodness sake, give us audio prompts for directions. We are paying attention to that road and the sites. I missed a lot of turns because I couldn’t also watch the screen. When you miss a turn the app can then bug out and won’t redirect well unless you back track.

2) you can download the maps which is essential for poor reception but it doesn’t download the points of interest. This is super annoying and there’s no reason to not have them downloaded.

3) bug alert - when you click on a point of interest and get time estimates it bases it on the last time you used the app for navigation. That could have been hours ago. When you select a route why on earth doesn’t it immediately query you’re current location?

Second Run Usage

We just completed our second part of the Route. We did IL to KS two years ago and this time visited a couple things in IL we couldn’t get to last time and then went straight to Kansas to do the Kansas to Santa Fe, NM section. The app has improved greatly in the two years. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the maps to download on your phone since there are big sections you will have no cell signal to help your navigation. We downloaded the app on both of our phones and used one phone for the navigation and the other to look up attractions that were coming up so we could plan stops we wanted to make. It also gives you a pop up of the attractions on the navigation and what side of the road it will be on. Only thing we wished was that we could do was zoom out of the map. Also would be helpful for more places to have their hours. American Giants museum was closed and not on the app sadly. We also didn’t get to visit the Conoco Station in Shamrock, TX because they were closed and no hours posted. Not the app’s fault but more the keepers of the locations to notify.

Very helpful

As a solo traveler, this app has proven to be incredibly helpful. I never would have been able to navigate 66 on my own without it. Cannot recommend enough. Definitely worth the investment.

Probably the best app doe Route 66

I’ve used this app a few times and I feel like I learn something new each time I use it. It’s well worth the price for the turn by turn navigation, and it keeps you on track. I’ve used the other “made in the USA” one and it’s not as good and you can tell it’s free (you get what you pay for).

By far the best Route 66 navigation app!

I have traveled the route over a dozen times. I have a business on the Route and live on the Route. I have tried several apps, and while each has pieces that I like, this app is the most complete. This is the ONLY app I have found that keeps you ON the Route! It gives you the option to chose the more modern alignment or the old alignment. I recommend this app to every traveler I talk to.

Enjoyable trip using this app

Loved the app and the tuern-by-turn instructions. Suggest adding side trips to the app so one can deviate into interesting downtowns, etc., without the app trying to “pull” you back to the route. Other than that it was a real charm to have this along side Jerry McClanahan’s guide - great experiences on Route 66!

If you ever plan to motor west, take my way, the highway that’s the best!!

PAID $20 just to have it take us OFF Route 66 onto dirt roads!

Wife and I decided to take the motorcycles and ride 66 from southwest Missouri to Tulsa for our anniversary. We both paid $20 for the short term premium and the app did a HORRIBLE job routing us. Several times it took us off Route 66 onto side streets and even at one point took us off a nice paved piece of 66 onto some back county gravel road (that was absolutely not part of 66) for several miles just to bring us back onto the highway a few miles down. About halfway to Tulsa we realized it was once again about to take us several miles off Route 66 onto back country roads and we said enough, closed the app, and just followed the 66 marker signs and a google map of 66.

Absolutely do not recommend this app!!

Eastbound

We just finished Eastbound, if I could I would turn around and go back. I found the app extremely helpful. Would be nice if you could pause route, add speed limits and zoom n and out for towns. I loved how it shows landmarks overall I’m very happy I found this app suggested by a blog I was reading out there on traveling Route 66. I will definitely recommend and hope to go Westbound one day!

Misleading Scam

Free to download but if you want to actually use it you must pay $40.
