[update] old design
I’m giving a review about the app and not the content.
I did subscribe for the premium plan because I was interested in downloading lessons and watching them offline.
I’m mainly off grid and travelling so I rely on a strong mobile data plan when available in cities which is far stable and better than most wifis around.
Problem: the app is not designed to let you download anything with your data. Only through WiFi which is an absolute stupid non sense. I am trying sometime with WiFi and so far nothing work.
Why on earth you design an app like this ? Tell me a good reason ? It’s something you can bypass by using another phone as hotspot (hence using WiFi over mobile data). So why ?
I did subscribe for nothing because I cannot use the app.

The support has been able to refund my subscription since there is a 30 days satisfaction guarantee. On that part, I can only admit they were quite efficient. I would subscribe again if they only could allow to download with data.

Shockingly laggy
Bit the bait and sighed up - the ads made it look so professional but it’s all a farce. I’ve spent a good hour trying to log into it on the browser after I signed up on my phone - all it does it takes me to empty pages. Tried to log a fault and it says that my device is not connected to an email and doesn’t give me any more options. Tried to chat with the bot on the website which was absolutely useless and when I started getting frustrated said that it would connect me to a customer service representative only for me to receive an automated email that they will contact me in 24-48 hours. What an absolute joke

Brilliant
An investment one won’t be disappointed in!! Was attracted to this due to Chris Hadfield’s Masterclass, and Armin Van Buuren. I’ve had it a week and can’t stop watching multiple masterclasses. Great concept and thanks for this. As long as the content continues to be updated regularly with new experts etc, this will become one of the most powerful and insightful learning and knowledge platforms out there. Thank you!

App needs improvement
I subscribed to this app, but despite the payment being processed, I have not been able to access the subscription services as expected.
I have already verified that the payment was successful through my Apple account and ensured that the app is updated to the latest version. Unfortunately, I am still unable to access the features.
Unfortunately, this is the second year in a row that I have experienced this same issue. Last year, I faced a similar situation where, despite completing the payment, the subscription did not activate properly, leading to delays in receiving the service I had paid for. I had hoped this would not happen again, but unfortunately, it has. I reached out to customer service, but they were of no help in resolving the matter, leaving me frustrated with the lack of support.
Additionally, I specifically inquired about alternative payment methods to avoid this issue going forward, but customer service has not provided any helpful guidance on that either, further adding to my frustration.

Honestly, it’s ok
The classes are from great leaders, but some of them don’t give you practical, well thought out steps, meaning those people that like that structure might not feel like they’ve walked away with too much that’s useful.
So you either get people who are legends but don’t know how to teach it, or great teachers that you don’t know anything about.
The app is totally awful. It’s so difficult to find things and the amount of times I finished a course and it doesn’t pop up as finished is ridiculous. It’s all like 80% of the way there, it’s missing the polish.

Problems with the App
The service is great, but… the app tends to quit and reload whenever playback is paused for 1 or 2 minutes in the background. Every time I’d pause for longer, I’d have to reopen the app, wait for it to load all over again, and click on resume. It’s a minor action but it becomes so repetitive that it becomes a nuisance daily. In addition to this it seems like it takes too long for the interface to load when switching between pages, which makes it less hard to search through the courses quickly. Please fix this by optimising background refresh and quickening the app load time.

Room for improvement
I just watched my first video and the content was fantastic- 5 stars!!!!!! The app is kind of buggy though. The app appears to be primarily video based and so casting the content to a larger screen is essential to really immersing oneself in the content. Once you start casting, it becomes difficult to pause, fast forward and rewind the content because the interface to control those functions goes away as soon as your phone goes to sleep. There is no way to access those controls after your device display goes to sleep except to restart the content. I should specify that I have a fully up to date iPhone 14 Pro Max, and as an IT professional I can attest that it’s not “user error”. It would also be nice if the app summarized some of the key points for review. Ultimately, I am satisfied with my purchase and hope that the company will implement some of my suggestions to improve the product. Keep up the good work!

Be careful, even if you delete the app and payment info, it will still renew
Honestly expected a lot more from this given all the hype. I didn’t find anything useful or noteworthy to me and my interests, I didn’t find any new skills or learned anything worth the price tag. Many of the “classes” are more like personal interviews of the individuals contributing versus a clear set of criteria for learning skills from them. While possibly useful for anyone who already has experience in the given fields, this knowledge will not necessarily help you to master any specific subjects. Again, if you like just additional content from the specific individuals and prefer to pay for it, then this is for you. If you are seeking to gain access to content to learn more about each subject, I suggest researching each topic before investing in this app. I deleted it last year after being highly disappointed, but it renewed in spite of my efforts to avoid this by not adding payment info. It still doesn’t allow me to cancel my now renewed membership easily. I couldn’t have imagined disliking the app more until this happened

Offline videos
So I purchased the subscription where it says that I could watch the videos offline but the reality is that it doesn’t work. The App appears to be keeping on looking for network and blocks without accessing the videos that I have downloaded, it all works fine when I’m back online but spending a large number of hours in flights it is just annoying when I bought this with the primary objective of being able to watch the videos offline. The contents are good but had to give a below average because of this sorry.

App lets down great content
The app used to be good. I don’t know what happened. Lately I’m getting all kinds of glitches (hopefully they’re not intentional) - videos annoyingly playing as soon as I start up the app, some classes that just won’t play (tried playing questlove’s class multiple times, and after closing the app and it just won’t play), the bottom window in sessions being tiny so I only see one sentence under the video.
On iPad, you can no longer have the screen split, so you could have a notes app on one side to make notes. You can only have the small Picture in Picture. And if you pause and then play the Picture in Picture, it reverts the speed back to 1x, you if you watch in 2x, you have to keep reopening the app to go back to any speed which isn’t the default 1x.
Content is great, although I think it’s skewing towards business and personal development a little too much. I prefer the practical classes where you learn an actual skill and there haven’t been too many of those lately.
Also more baking classes please! Joanne Cheng’s was great.
