Rippple for Trakt User Reviews

Best movie/tv app on Mac

I've tried a lot of iOS apps for tracking my movies and TV shows, but was always bummed they don't have a companion app for Mac. So I've usually just looked things up online. But then I found Rippple and have really enjoyed using it on Mac as well as on my iPhone and iPad.

The only "caveat" (if you can call it that) is that you'll have to subscribe ($0.49/mo, $4.99/year, or $14.99 for lifetime) which is cheaper than most tv/movie tracking apps (unless of course you don't care at all about keeping your data privacy, in which case go use the completely "free" apps). The price is very much worth it in my opinion and unlocks premium on all your devices. Highly recommend!

Awesome app

Love the interface and the whole app in general. Easy to use and easy to express the feeling when watching a serie/film.

Lists and to watch locked under premium, irrelevant messages is default tab

For some reason the only two features I wanted to use are locked under a $5 a year premium: to watch and lists. I don't care about comments, and the only thing available to see is the feed for what you've already watched but I don't care about that.

Response from developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback, we’re adding new features to both the free and the premium experience every month or so. Those features are not only about comments but it’s one of the things we decided to support. We always try to balance discovery, tracking and social features. Rippple is not only about comments as much as it’s not about just lists or « to watch ».

Finally Found a Great Tracking App!

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that I’ve tried the majority of iOS trakt-based episode tracking apps. Many lack basic features. Others try to cram unnecessary features into an unintuitive UI. Rippple walks this tightrope the best of any tracking app I’ve tried thus far. Its sorting options are second to none. It allows you to see which services stream a particular show. You can rate and comment, and comments with spoilers are properly spoilerized. It supports custom lists and public lists. It offers cast and crew information. The only thing it doesn’t have is a calendar of upcoming episodes.

Almost Perfect

This app has the potential to be one of the best TV Show and Movie tracking apps available and I look forward to seeing where development takes it.

A great app that just needs to load results faster.

A well designed and well funtioning app that just needs to load results a bit faster and reliably. Also some design choices can be streamilined but all in all it's great.
To the developers: Don't listen to people who think everything should be for free. You need to think about sustainability and the price of 2 coffees for a yearly subscription is more than viable for everyone.

Free version nearly useless

Don't bother unless you are willing to pay the subscription (which is admittedly quite cheap, but this is on top of potentially having to pay for Trakt itself). The features available for free are practically useless.

Response from developer

I'm thinking about opening the simple search to premium users. But the goal is to get people to pay for the app at some point if they see an interest in the features we propose. It's a balance that needs to make sense between features I give for free and features that you get as a premium user.  Trakt also has a paid plan but Rippple's premium feature are available to both free and paid trakt users. We're trying to sell another way to experience trakt. Thanks a lot for you review! You can update it with the feature(s) you'd like to have for free (without asking for everything).

Where’s the search bar?

It’s a nicely designed app, but I wanted to add a lot of things I’ve watched to my account. I can’t really do that if I can’t search for things..
I’m also bothered by seeing episode comments in the All tab, I’m afraid of seeing spoilers. Having that tab makes it too easy for that.

Response from developer

Thanks for your review. I'm thinking about opening the search a bit for non-premium users. But I need to maintain a good balance between what I give for free and what you get as a paying user. The "All" should be safe. Comments marked with "spoilers" by the commenter are all redacted and Rippple also support in-line spoilers. I agree it ca happen if the commenter didn't mark his comment.

Incredibly buggy

Trakt has more or less ignored commenting and commmunity building itself, so good on the developers for tackling the need. The app itself is incredibly buggy though, presumably in part due to issues with the trakt api. Likes and comments routinely fail.

Response from developer

Hey, you're right and you're right. The Trakt API has been better since the latest (really long) maintenance the Trakt team did end of December. I would love to get your feedback on the buggy part. About Rippple's focus on comments, it's true at first but the Premium Experience (hopefully) provides more than that. Would love to get your feedback on that too. You can edit your review or contact us. Thanks!

Excellent Trakt App

Such a great Trakt app, nice UI and so happy with the new sort options! Thanks!
