“Minor fixes” update ruined the game.
I honestly and wholeheartedly loved this game when I first downloaded it. It was fun, simple, had vibrations that simulated real golf, and most of all it was a one touch game. You had three shots to get it into the hole, and the only complication was getting new skins which was voluntary. Then they had to put on some “minor fixes” and the game is ruined. First and foremost, they took away and entire shot, making it near impossible to beat any high score or even have the relaxing gameplay one touch games are supposed to have. On top of that, giant flying birds that you have to avoid and if you hit them it takes away a shot, on top of the already lessened amount we have. Not to mention that the bird is just an advertisement for another game in which the bird is the main character! Lastly is those stupid keys. You have to get a key (which usually takes at least one shot, sometimes two) and then you have to get the putt with one shot, or maybe you just lose without even going for the hole. This game used to be amazing and I played it for hours every day, but they have ruined it in favor of an ad filled, terrible version of a great game. Spoiled by greed & lack of strategic improvement
Like some of the other reviews, when this game came out it was superb; very addictive, simple and fast-paced. However, in the past week they’ve altered a few things which have effectively ruined the game.
Firstly, the adverts. I understand why these games add adverts; revenue for the game maker and to try to get the user to buy an improved version with no ads. So I did. However, the £2.99 version only removed SOME of the ads and given they have now changed the format so you have to watch 10-30 seconds of ads if you want to use a third ball means the game no longer retains the features that made it great initially. Moreover, if a user buys a version to remove ads it should do exactly that. I cannot help but feel this was a decision to make a quick buck.
Secondly, the so called improvements to the actual game are weird. Having to unlock a hole before holding out and then also some strange, fat bird flying about getting in the way is not an improvement.
Overall constructive feedback:
1) take all ads out of £2.99 version
2) have difficulty settings do a user can either play the simple version (which everyone seemed to like) or play the version with the weird additionsShow lessLethal_Pizzle
It was a fun game
I enjoy the other games that the developers have made, this one was no exception. That is until the recent update. The changes definitely made the game more challenging, far more challenging then I really want to put into a game like this.
The ads are annoying, and their other games are just as full of them. I can usually look past the ads, but the volume is pretty high in comparison to other games out there.
Before this update, I would have given the app a 3.5 - 4 star rating (5 gameplay, 2 for ads). After this last update I wouldn’t be able to go above a 1 star. The latest update ruined it
Let me start off by reviewing the game before the latest update, and then I'll go over that.
The game was great. It was fun, simple, and the only problem was that you couldn't rotate the screen.
Not much more to it than that, it's pretty simple.
And now the update. The good thing that the update added was unlockable balls. You could unlock new skins for your ball. I think the way that worked was great.
Unfortunately, there were other things.
They added birds. When you hit them, you get a point. But, it puts your ball back where it started. It stops the ball midair. And it doesn't give you that ball back. That means that hitting the bird is ALWAYS mathematically speaking, a bad choice.
They added locks. Sometimes you'll have to hit the key to open the hole. Once again, a good concept, but pulled off badly. I played a level in which the key was right next to the start, and a bird was basically puppy guarding the hole.
Given that they changed it so that you only have two balls now, not three, it would take one turn to hit the key, and the other to hit the bird, and none left to get it in the hole.
Those could be so easy to fix, but as they are, it really makes it worse. If those are fixed, it'd be a great game.Show lessSuprK1
Ruined by the update
I liked this game before the update, now it’s spoiled the fun. Used to get 3 shots and had to watch a video for 2nd chance. Now you get 2 shots and have to watch a 30second video to get a 3rd. As if that’s not bad enough they have also introduced a target to unlock the hole. Would maybe have been ok with 3 shots, but I don’t play a game to watch videos of other games. Think I’ll be deleting this game now - such a shame. Why mess with a good thing.Show less8ar8-79
Less balls, more ads, bad marketing
As a developer, I understand ads on a free application with a buy up, you should still get some revenue for your work. This update however was an extremely poor decision, you should have set the game to 2 balls when it was released instead of realizing the revenue wasn’t strong enough after setting it to 3, then downsizing to 2 in order to get more ads to play or to push a no ad sale. It’s not surprising you have a small mutiny on your hands here in the review section, this has framed itself as a selfish money grab on your behalf for a mistake you made. Take the extra dollars and hire somebody with marketing experience, you should have bit the bullet here, owned the mistake and better released your next application to fit your needs as a dev. 2 stars from me.Show lessJ-shoot em straight-Smith
New Update
Usually don’t write reviews but I had to for this update. Before today I loved this game but the new update ruined it. In the update details it says “Minor updates” but they added a tone of new additions. It use to be a fun simple game but they added a bunch of obstacles trying to make the game harder. If they could have a zen mode or something it would be fine but right now it is currently impossible to beat your old high score. Also the worst is them reducing the available balls from one to two. To get the third ball you need to watch an ad therefore giving them more money. I am not playing until they fix these issues and don’t advise playing right now.Show lessCorey Shank
YOU RUINED THE GAME!!!
This was a great game which I played all the time until this “minor fixes” update. This is not minor at all, you literally took away one of our shots!! It makes it impossible to beat my high score of 150, heck I can barely beat 10 know. They also added some kinda of magical bird which would be a great update IF THEY DIDN’T TAKE AWAY ONE OUR SHOTS!!!! They also added a key thing where the hole is blocked and you haft to get the key then get in the hole and that would be great, IF YOU DIDN’T TAKE ONE OF OUR SHOTS. Again this would have been a amazing update, IF YOU DIDN’T TAKE ONE OF ARE SHOTS. Also it would be amazing if they added more kinds of balls and maps but first add another ball, PLEASE!! Complete Garbage
With the way apps work nowadays (specifically games) it is almost expected to have encounters with ads throughout gameplay. However when I first downloaded this app, it wasn’t as frequent and I found myself thoroughly enjoying the gaming experience. I thought I had actually found a free game that I could actually enjoy.. However with the new update, the user’s freedom is taken away. Instead of getting 3 balls per hole (which alone was sometimes difficult), users now only get two. Want an extra ball? Watch an ad. Want a second chance? Watch an ad. Do both and still lose the game? Watch an ad. What used to be a fun free game has now become a worthless app that is only playable if you spend money. “Minor fixes”
Discovered this game about 2 weeks ago and have been playing it nonstop. Just opened it to play and found out it had updated. Played 3 games and I’m already done with it. Not only did they take 1 ball away to only give you 2 shots, they added an obstacle where you have to hit a key in order to unlock the hole. So shot one has to be perfect to hit the key and then shot 2 has to be perfect in the hole. Do not like this version and I’m disappointed my new found pastime game has changed for the worse. If an obstacle is going to be added, you should have the same number of shots as the last version or maybe even one more, not less. 3 stars because I still lake the game, however, I do not plan on playing anymore until the game is changed.
