A new Sport Fishing Regulations Mobile Application for Washington State.
The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is excited to announce a new Sport Fishing Regulations Mobile Application for Washington State!
Washington State offers anglers some of the most diverse fishing opportunities available anywhere in the world. In a single weekend, you can dig for clams, troll for salmon, drop a pot for Dungeness crab, fly fish for steelhead, trout or bass, jig for halibut or rockfish, and bait fish for catfish, tuna, lingcod or sturgeon. Maintaining this variety of fishing opportunities necessitates correspondingly diverse―and sometimes complex―fishing regulations.
To make these regulations easier to understand, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife developed the Fish Washington mobile app.
Browse for places to fish.
Tap on a body of water to see what you can fish for and retain, gear restrictions (if any), etc.
Search for your favorite fishing spot and see the regulations; for today and for that upcoming trip.
Filter for target species.
Share your experience or favorite fishing spot with friends and family.
Get real-time notifications about changes to regulations, emergency rules, etc.

I have had this app for the last two years and it has only worked great the initial first time I downloaded it. Now every time I open it it says downloading erecords for 5 minutes or more and btw resets that time frame if your phone screen turns off because the data retrieval takes FOREVER. I have removed/uninstalled the app and re-installed it and still the same process occurs when trying to open and use it!
Florida fish and game’s app is 100x better than this app. WDFW please……please you could do way better than this!

Response from developer
Hello,
Thank you for providing your feedback. I am happy to share that we released a complete rewrite of the app in April. This new build addresses the issues you encountered with the app taking so long to sync and needing to sync every time you open it. Among several improvements, with the new version, the files are much smaller and load more quickly, and there is a background sync process that will run daily as long as you don't force-quit the app. Please install it and let us know what you think.
Best,
Jake
