Reviews of myPhonak

  • What’s up with the Phonak app?

The app is not user friendly or even app friendly! You can change a setting, say the balance between your two ears based in differences in hearing loss, but the app won’t hold it. You have to do it over and over. It doesn’t have good ability to control the sound components of music, for another example. They “updated” by adding health tracking features but I don’t want in my hearing aid app. I access health monitoring through my watch and a steps app.

Glitches happen in your ability to have a phone call that just won’t stop. It cycles through you using soaker phone, then for a few seconds you’re speaking through the hearing aids, and then you’re switched to regular phone hearing. On and off constantly; it’s maddening. You have to delete the app and your hearing devices and start over.

My next devices won’t be Phonak. The app is important for all the bells and whistles. Got to wonder what they’re thinking.

    Developer Response

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Our developers are aware about the issue where the volume adjusted through the slider (left and right) in the app changes. We will update our users once it is fixed. To avoid this behavior we recommend to switch off tones from the smartphone settings, e.g., system tones, touch tones, keyboard tones, screen lock tones, screenshot tone, app sounds as well as notification tones from messages (e.g. SMS, email and push notifications). Regarding the issue about sound components and phone calls, could you please elaborate more and send details of what you’re experiencing to our customer support at: apps@sonova.com We will try to evaluate the issue and get back to you. Regards, Sonova Support Team.
  • Bluetooth streaming music sounds clipped

While streaming music it sounds like too much volume into a small speaker, that is clipped or overly compressed. The volume is adequate even at minimum volume setting in Music, and doesn’t get too much ch louder when turning up the volume. I contacted support who said talk to my fitter for sound problems. But it seem an app or iPhone interface issue [Update: I see the same issue when I pair the hearing aid to a computer, so I guess the app is not the culprit. Sorry for the accusation, keeping the rating though, still plenty of other app issues. Did try to resolve with HA fitter, no luck. Otherwise HA is fine, app is of some use and I give the app developers credit for replying with an email address], doesn’t seem stable (sometimes bad, sometimes worse), and was discussed on Reddit two years ago (P90) and I see it on new L90 hearing aids. Same iPhone through hearing aids via large headphones does not have this problem in the guitar/voice frequencies. This issue is separate from the dome leakage vs bass issue which I understand. The digital stream is being limited or compressed rather than attenuated somewhere along the streaming path at all volume levels, even lowest possible setting.

    Developer Response

We would recommend you to contact your Hearing Care Professional for the sound issues. For further help and support, please contact us at: apps@sonova.com Regards, Sonova Support Team
