Terrible new UI, still not compatible with iPhone XS Max screen, and now has ads. This is terrible...
Ok, so you changed the app icon and background, and that means you added ADVERTISEMENTS?! Awful! Where are the graphs? Where is the additional functionality?! ADS?!?!
I really don’t see this app as an improvement over the previous version. It displays the same data, but with a different look. I had to re-add my kiln and I gave it a name, etc. I then decided to rename my kiln and it said the rename was successful, but the displayed name does not change. I tried this 3 times more times. I suspect that deleting the kiln and adding it again will act as a workaround, but have not tried it. The added advertisements are really annoying. Ads belong on a web page, not on kiln controller monitoring software.

Please email information@bartinst.com if you continue to see the issue. I haven’t been able to log in or change my password since the update. I liked it when it was working.

Now can’t access my kiln or account and there is no app support link or any way to get any help. Frustrating !!!
The ad feature really makes this app terrible. It really ruins the entire thing.

Hello - we have removed the full page ad entirely, based on user feedback. We were hoping adding ads would be a benefit to people using the app - to get discounts on products they use while creating their art, but it did not work out that way. We are sorry for the disruption and hope the app is working well for you now. Great move here to be able to monitor temps.
Improvement needed? Yes. Like...
-Ability to turn off kiln in case of urgency (i understand why it would be too risky to allow turning it on
- ability to view past firing data with a click
- ability to monitor from a computer
-push notifications for end, stages, etc.
Update I’m giving this app 5 stars. I reviewed it before when I had only run a test and came down hard because I didn’t think it offered enough info, boy was I wrong. Now that I have fired the kiln I can see that my criticism was baseless. I can see now that I get the temperature from all three thermocouples and it indicates which segment I’m in along with the set point. I do look forward to the app they (Bartlett Instruments) has said is coming that will allow me to make a change of a firing on the fly. I understand they will charge for that version while this one was free. I will be happy to buy that although I’m not sure I would be interested if the new app comes with a monthly fee.
I was very excited about this but ultimately was disappointed. I have been an evangelist of Bartlett Instruments for years now. I am fortunate that my hubby considers taking the wiring diagram and building the controller from the board a fun project. Fast forward to discovering that the new Genesis 3140 controllers were WiFi capable and there was a phone app and I thought I died and gone to heaven. Don’t get me wrong the this controller is unbelievable in the features it offers, and the ease of the user interface is exquisite. This is truly the next level of kiln control.
The phone app though (KilnAid) doesn’t include some vital information while it gives me a temperature reading for each of the thermocouples it doesn’t show which segment I’m in or what that segments temperature (Set Point) that the programs is shooting for.
I wouldn’t mind paying for an app that will allow me to make those changes through WiFi but until that is available why not at least give us all the information to make the app a useful tool. I’m disappointed that the app doesn’t allow more complete monitoring of what is happening in the kiln.
Works like a charm for those who like throwing the rule book out the window and leaving the furnace “unattended.” I mean, really, who wants to stare at these furnaces for half a day? They’re cool-looking and all, but it doesn’t have cable... yet...
Didn’t encounter any bugs and the “Keep screen awake” function is awesome. Setup was a breeze.
What would make this PERFECT is two things:
1. Ability to also see graphs and the other functions on the controller
2. Ability to edit/send new programs to the controller.
