Loads slow!!
I loveeeee this camera!! And I love that it has night vision and sound. But the app needs some serious work!! When I try to go back to watch video, it takes forever to load! No matter if you are connected to the best WiFi or have all bars for cell service! When I save a video, it either will take forever to save or it won’t save at all. There has been so many missed videos that was very necessary and important but when it works it works great. Also I hate when the fan kicks on, that’s all you hear and all the audio of the video is impossible to catch. If these flaws could be fixed that would be wonderful!! It’s definitely not worth the $15 a month for the junk problems it has! I’ve owed two versions of this camera and unless most if not all of these issues get fixed, I’m going to look into other options.Show lessCamille-E
Buyer beware. Not the greatest but finally got it working
So I made the mistake of not reading recent reviews before buying this product. It came in, I installed it, and it worked for about a second then wouldn’t be accessible at all from my phone. Got in contact with customer service, after FINALLY reading reviews that shared my experience. They actually did respond somewhat quickly to me. Tried a fix, didn’t work. So I asked for a refund. They stated I could get my refund within 30 days of getting the product, which the website promises, but then said there is a 25% restocking fee deducted from my refund, which the website makes no mention of.
Luckily, shortly after this exchange, my Owlcam started working on my phone, sending alerts as I wanted it to. Cancelled the return/refund. It does reboot during a drive sometimes, but it’s fairly quick about it then goes back to functioning. Would have rated 4/5 stars if not for the “25% restocking fee” they insisted on. I have use Owlcam for over a year it keeps a eye on my car even when I’m sleep send me many notifications on motion and any suspicious activity around my car never killed my battery and has been used once when a car hit my car at 3:00 in the morning while I was sleep woke up to the notifications with the video and 10 seconds before the incident for insurance. What happened??
I was one of the original people that had the camera years ago. It worked great for many years and then it was bought out. After paying for the year without any notification of why the camera stopped working things seem to be OK. After a camera replacement since I had the original version and it did not work with the updated daycare, they sent me a new camera. After a few months, the camera started acting up and losing connectivity. I also started to notice that the electronics in my vehicle started acting up. I called Owl many times and they had no idea what to do. I finally disconnected the camera since it hasn’t worked for a couple months and all my electronic issues stopped. This company had so much potential but unfortunately it’s junk now and is a paperweight on my desk at work. Do not buy!!Show lessBBQSoCal
Finally working better, but...
I updated to the new app but the app takes a long long time to load and it sits on the splash screen for about 15 seconds before you can get to the camera. If there’s a live event going on the app just takes too long to open with the latest update. Maybe you guys can adjust the splash screen so it only takes a few seconds to load instead of waiting for the logo to come on and the owl blinking its eye. The app just takes too long to load and should load as quick as possible so you can get in to see Live events, etc. Keep up the good workShow lessJerry Seinfeld1
Simply some actions
Everything in iOS except a few things allow me to simply choose multiple items to delete or swipe and delete them. This app would be SO much better if 1-simply making it so a user can delete the 30 plus clips a day that are saved doesn’t require on individual selection for each event (only good thing is outside and inside can be deleted together) unless you delete out of order. 2- send alerts when they happen. Constantly get notifications about a bump or movement hours after they were sent. 3- buffer the video before the playback occurs. I am almost always looking at blocks for minutes. 4- when I pause the video stay where I pause it. Don’t jump back to earlier in the video. Thanks in advance.Show lessWrench80
Amazing Must Have Camera
This camera is amazing I have put six people in jail already because of it. Do not even remotely believe the negative reviews a lot of those people are upset when the original company transitioned into the new company and service was down temporarily and they increased the monthly fee by $10. $20 a month is still really awesome for all of the features that you get the security that you get so why these people keep whining is beyond me. New owners destroyed the Owl Cam
I spent 700 on two cameras, a year later the company goes out of business and these jokers took over. The camera and app use to be GREAT! It was so easy to use, always worked, and never had any issues with it. Not to mention after spending 700, the service was free. Now, not only do I get charged monthly for the cameras. The stupid things never work! I have to cameras linked to two phones and I cannot access the cameras at all. The notification pops up to tell me there is movement however, I cannot access the camera or any of the videos I have created. I HATE THIS SYSTEM AND WISH THESE JERKS NEVER PURCHASED THE COMPANY! Not worth the expense
At first I was enjoying the dash cam, but I had more patience. The app isn’t very good; difficult and very time consuming to view videos- takes a long time to actually see the video. I spent most of the credit I had trying to download footage of an incident and lost half of it because it took several days to download. Now that I just updated it there is no new footage to view, it froze and I had to get out of it, which happens a lot. If I got into an accident and the cops showed up I wouldn’t be able to show any footage, it would have to be on another day. I’m looking into getting another kind of dash cam.
*update 2020- I stopped using the dash cam all together because I just couldn’t get it to work right. I feel like I got ripped off: company makes a poorly functioning device, charges a lot, then sells company. They released the product before they should have because there were too many problems, which they would have known. I want my money back.Show lessfluffy33333333333
The camera and app miss the mark
There’s too many issues with the camera and app to list so I’m just going to list the ones that bug me the most.
The Bluetooth takes forever to connect because Owlcam does not connect like standard devices. This cause a notification and those annoying bright less EVERYTIME I get in my cars.
The camera does not record during my entire drive which is the only reason to have a dash cam. It’s turned off while sitting in traffic, parking at stadiums, waiting for a train, etc.
The emergency recording from bumps or movements record AFTER it happens but their promos show it recording before the construction worker hits the car! That’s false advertising if I’ve ever seen it.
There’s no way of adding a rechargeable battery to have it record non stop. This one just seems like common sense, but hey common sense ain’t so common. I don’t know about anyone else but if I’m driving my sports car I want my dash cam recording 24/7.
Overall, this camera and service is way too expensive for mediocre performance. There are plenty of other cameras on the market that are betterShow lessBangemslim
