I wanted to love this camera. I really did. But the whole concept is confusing, and the app itself has been crashing (unable to open the app) every time I get an alert. Owl customer service suggests I reboot my phone or delete and reinstall the app. Well, I’m not going to be doing that 3-4 times a day which is what it is doing now! The confusing part: If you want to download one of your videos that is already on your camera it’s going to cost you a dollar a minute. I’m mean shouldn’t it just stream to your phone via WiFi or Bluetooth. I used 30 of my monthly credits in the first few days before realizing what was going on. The video is recorded on the camera that I bought for 350 but I have to pay to use it as well. If you want to record a clip (that is already on your camera) it will cost you a buck. Want to save a five minute clip.....five bucks. The live view.....I can understand the cost. It’s using cellular service and 4g ain’t free. But charging for watching your videos that are already in your camera. Not cool. That’s like Cobra (brand) charging you every time you remove your SD card from your camera. Getting Worse Each Update
I was an early adopter and the app although rudimentary was decent. Each update it has got progressively worse. I use to be able to quickly save a clip and then trim it how I like it. Now, if I am lucky to actually get the 30 second or 1 minute or 5 minute clip to even save Owl Cam decides on the start and stop. It’s ridiculous. I try to connect to Bluetooth with the phone less than 2 feet away and fails so instead I have to use grainy “LTE” to see. Motion Alerts now always show as “bump”. Hate to be negative because see so much potential in this product but each “update” makes it look spiffy but the usability goes backwards. I can’t even save clips anymore since new update. Sophisticated and Smart
I’ve had the owl car camera for five months. This camera is awesome and easy to use. I love everything about this camera. I like how I can check my vehicle anywhere at anytime using my iPhone, the touch screen image is clear and crisp and it’s sleek design is elegant. I’ve used others and this camera by far is the best one on the market. It’s smart, simple and sophisticated. One thing I would like for owl to work on is a 360 degree view if possible. So far nothing but disappointment first device was complete disaster as soon turn on, the camera try updating and the screen went crazy and never back to normal , they sent new camera next day
Note : 3 cameras i purchased only the first one was bad , every user of the other cameras r satisfied, i end up buying 3 more for my other vehicles and guess what they don’t work , only one camera at a time per fone device , so everyone that own more that one vehicle stay away from this product, look else where unless if u have as many cell fone devices as how many cameras u bought
Seems like this company is at the beginning stage the app doesn’t support 2 or more cameras
Quality seems to be ok , can’t say for sure til we go through next summer where 100 degrees over outside to see if the camera is not going to go bad because is at the windshield all day long on heat constantly
Another thing every should know watch out u only get 60 credits per month and each credit is just minute , so if u constantly looking at ur camera live view ,ur credits is going to go fast , and u will have to purchase more from them if u want to keep looking at ur camera every now then
So frustrated because after got my first one I decided to order more and spoke with vasili over the fone , explain why i wanted to purchase more for the other vehicles and was never informed that i wasn’t capable to do what i was buying the cameras forShow lessFlavioatlanta

I’ve had one for several months now and love it. I even submitted a clip I captured to Owl and won their $1000 daily prize! My only complaint is that the cameras fan turns on when your car is moving and I can hear it. But that wouldn’t stop me from getting one. It was super easy to install and I love being able to see what’s going on in my parking garage at night when the app sends me a notification. Definitely worth the money.Show lessTodd-fish
Best Camera for your Car
The Owl Cam is the best security camera on the market right now for your car.
The newest update today has made it possible to view your 24hr over LTE not just WiFi while in or near your car.
I would like to see additional features added to the camera like (Turn-by-turn Navigation via WiFi and vehicle diagnosis via LTE/WiFi) which could be possible while connected to the phone using google or any other third party app to navigate. Due to me just disabling the screen so i don’t see myself on the camera while I drive. Navigation would make a great use of the screen while it still records in/outside.
I would like to see a rear window camera as well added to the device or if you create a Owl Cam 2.
On an end note I’d like to see Owl Cam work with AT&T to create additional plans for LTE that include more credits or even unlimited. That would help me a lot due to currently being deployed.

Had my cam installed about 3 weeks now. I like the idea behind it, but man this app needs work. Seriously. I have my camera set to max record. I just went out to my car and there's nothing from before 24 hours ago except a green line saying guard mode. I've driven maybe an hour in the past 4 days so I'd expect to have video from all my drives for at least the past week. If this is all I get I'll have to go back to something with a memory card.
Update. I reached out to customer service. We went back and forth about settings. Everything is set right. They then asked me to just download my videos daily. I find it odd that some people can get a couple weeks of video and I can only get 24 hours. Is this a hardware issue? Software? If it's hardware shouldn't they be replacing my unit? They need some updates really quick. Downgrading to two stars until this issue is resolved.
Update.
This app is a joke. The idea is great but they clearly rolled this thing our way before it was ready. If you get in an accident make sure you turn on your cell phone video. That's likely the only video you'll get. One star till a whole slew of issues are resolved. I'll go back to my thinkware 800 till owl gets some things ironed out.Show lessGgh1969
Big money, big disappointment
I’ve had the Owl cam for two days now and almost every time I try to connect to the camera, I receive “cannot connect to network, try again later” messages...when it did work, the live video feed quality was extremely poor, very low resolution looking, like it was 240p. My WiFi signal is very strong, btw. I know I was taking a gamble on a new product but this has failed to live up to my expectations. Also, the “Owl credits” is a bunch of baloney. Just tell us straight out what we are paying for. The app only works landscape on the phone and it’s cluttered with a bunch of social media nonsense. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, get a Garmin instead.Show lessmgarin73
Works great but, why landscape?!
The app works as promised, setup was easy and checking in on my car is super simple. But I'm really puzzled by the decision to force the user into a landscape orientation. The only apps that force me to use my phone in landscape are games, and this is not a game. Especially on iPhone X, landscape is claustrophobic and uncomfortable to use. Bizarre! Please offer portrait mode!
This last bit has nothing to do with the app or my rating of the app, but please please offer a magnetic mounting solution that allows for placement in other areas, like the top of the windsheild. Even an adapter that works with the RAM system of mounts would be amazing. I have two cars, and the mounts provided don't work well with either of them. Also, a power adapter for a 12V power port is needed! One of my cars does not have an ODB2 port (Tesla Model 3). While taking about alternative mounts, software should allow for a setting that understands camera is mounted upside-down and rotates clips automatically.

I like the LTE functionality and the pricing for extra clips is fair.
On the downside, the clips one sends over LTE via “OK Presto” are compressed and blocky — and only 720p — so one can’t read license plates. Clips are clearer when the car is still, but the compression is much more noticeable on clips made on a typical bumpy urban road.
Another downside: the Owl can reportedly store hours — even days — of video internally. Unfortunately the local WiFi link the Owl uses can be flakey even when one’s phone is inches away and the iOS app crashes when I try to scrub through stored video. So far I have had zero luck viewing video in “history”. Yes, I am running the latest iOS app and iOS system software.Show lessnodis
