    Update to wifi

    I ONLY WANT TO USE MY CAMERA IN WI-FI DIRECT CONNECT, BUT IT’S NOT WORKING. WHAT CAN I DO?

    This camera has great potential of being the best in the market. My problem is that the app does not work 100%. The app would crash in certain places but the video quality is great. I have captured everything that I wanted to see. I had this camera just under 2 years, so I have experience both company. Customer service still takes a long time to answer as of right now but I feel they are making progress to getting this camera where it needs to be. For now this is a 4 star review until I see the app get better in terms of not crashes and the news feature is back. Just a thought covid 19 can be hard on all company.

    Ok so here’s the deal. When the owl came out over a year ago it was the best and worked flawlessly. Let’s say almost a year into it the app was crashing , I could not link up on the phone through 4g and customer service was the worst. I found out that the company was sold and there was a new sheriff in town. I tried to call the new customer service , I got through after a very , very long hold. I thought maybe they could resolve the issue with my camera. They tried and tried , eventually I gave up and used the old Owlcam as a fishing weight😬. So fast forward a few months and see that Owlcam is pumping up a new camera with a bigger storage and better infrared night cam. I hesitate for a little while, but I break down as usual with all the new hype. I get the camera and hook her up , and just like that I’m back online. It’s been a few weeks and it’s working perfectly. No connection issues , don’t get me wrong it gets choppy here and there but it works great. I’m satisfied as of this moment. It works like it used to when they first came out. So 4 stars it is .

  • Not worth the headache

    There was an updated and all of the credits I’ve been saving since 2018 are just gone. In addition, my camera only turns on for 5 minutes every couple of days. Before I had the issue with my camera not turning on at all my screen would turn purple anytime I had the heat in my car running at night. This could be fixed by shinning my phone flash light at the screen but that’s not something I’m really trying to do whenever I stop at a light. Just random phrases in conversation have triggered clips (phrases that sound nothing like Okay Presto). In addition the app crashes and won’t open more often then I’d like. Overall, it’s a total headache and if it’s not the camera, it’s the app and if it’s not the app it’s the customer service.

  • Terrible customer service

    My vehicle was stolen along with my owlcam. I didn’t receive any alert from the incident on my phone. I tried to look at the app to see for movement nothing popped up. I called customer service was on hold for an hour and they weren’t able to help me at all. I got a bunch of alerts from my owlcam recently, someone must have picked it up and tried using it. I was able to see them live for a bit but then the owlcam started to get too hot so I could no longer view. I waited for it to cool down to see if it’s going to be on the clips because of the movements but nothing populated. The whole app and customer service is flawed, it had potential but it’s truly garbage after my experience with this “security system.” Definitely would not recommend also way too expensive now for having bad customer service, compared to before and the customer service then was easier to contact and more understandable.

  • New owners don’t care about customers. They are just Cashing in

    So ever since owl cam has switched owners everything has gotten horrible. The camera never connects to the app I can no longer connect to see live video. I haven’t been able to since the change. Also the cost of the entire thing is insane. As much as a cell phone, which gets used 100x more, still they charge a ridiculous amount for a service that doesn’t seem to work. I get lots of false positives when car is sitting in my driveway, but when my car was parked in the street and got hit I got No notification and couldn’t find any video Apparently nothing was recorded!!! So what good is the camera and all that cost. Not to mention I paid $350 for the camera and the box clearly says lifetime service included. This whole thing is a nightmare. Shame. The cell company that took over had the opportunity to support a great product. Now it’s just an expensive piece if Sh*t. It is painfully obvious the company that took over saw an easy payday to cash in and make a fortune off of the existing customers. I imagine this will shut down in near future. Can’t imagine they can continue to stay in business with the camera being so bad. I have absolutely nothing good to say about any of this since owlcam switched hands. So sad

  • One year later review....

    Don’t buy this product! Instead of improving with software updates and hardware revisions, this product actually has gotten worse. From day one there has been an issue with Bluetooth connectivity and the Geo fencing area that the manufacturer still refuses to address. Because of this you will receive an alert every time you enter your own vehicle. No one needs a notification to tell them they’re entering their own vehicle! The manufacturers fix.... advise you to turn off the notifications. :( This defeats the security features of the camera. Not only defeating a security feature but the manufacture is still advertising this as one of their main selling features, deceiving customers. Their newest hardware revision took what was originally a very sturdy camera mount, a solid camera housing and replaced it with cheap injection molded plastic. Their newest revision of the camera and mount is now cheap, flimsy and extremely prone to vibration. This newest revision now means that a lot of your footage is going to be unusable. What they also don’t tell you unless you read the fine print is that they restrict the amount of footage you can download from the camera. Restricting you to only getting video clips that are just a few minutes long. Do your own homework and research, but I would definitely not recommend buying this camera.

  • New customer very pleased

    I bought a camera from the “new Owlcam” in Sept 2020 and I have been very happy so far. It took less than 10 minutes to get the camera up and running out of the box, and the app does everything it says it will. I have a constant video history of both inside and outside of my vehicle while I am driving, as well as video recordings when the cameras detect motion when the car is parked. I think a lot of the negative reviews come from people upset that they bought this camera from the company who went bankrupt...however, as far as I can tell, the technology and app work great, and it seems like CallPass (the company currently selling Owlcams) is much more established than the previous start-up company was.

  • **Do not buy or pay for service**

    Do not buy one of these dash cams. I purchased one with a high purchase price and low subscription fee. The company was bought out and come June 2020 the App is worthless and will not connect to my dash cam. Before you were able to direct connect to the camera and download any saved clips but the new company that purchased the rights, is greedy. Some customers are complaining that the new company has locked them out of their cameras. All I see is garbage customer service reviews and it’s not even worth calling. Find another dash cam that doesn’t require you to have a subscription to view your clips or history.

  • STAY AWAY AT ALL COST

    Well I will keep this as short as I can. Simply the camera doesn’t work after waiting two months from a email back from support, after I sent three emails. They ignored that the camera shuts down at random and takes 15 mins to boot back up. Heaven forbid need it to work when it decides to do this. They ignored that it will not connect to wireless service (like cell service). They ignored that I can’t even access the videos on the camera. They did answer one of my problems and that was that about every other day it falls of the windshield. There answer... glue it to the windshield! I can’t believe there solution was to glue a camera that doesn’t work to my windshield.

    In summary was getting tons of emails to sign up for there monthly subscription service but it took months to get a message from support. They camera is over priced, doesn’t work as advertise, and the company is not taking steps to fix any of these problems.

  • Was a great camera but.........

    I absolutely loved all the features and how well the Owlcam worked and how phenomenal the customer service was. Then I started having problems getting the cam to transfer and sync to my phone, along with a doubled monthly service. I actually liked this cam enough that I was entertaining the idea of paying the doubled monthly price, but their customer service not will not even get in contact with me to fix my first syncing problem. I see it as if they can’t help you fix a problem with their product before you sign up for a service, what is to make you think the customer service will be any better after you sign up. Bring back your phenomenal customer service and watch this camera get rave reviews again.
