  • Impressed

I don’t normally write app reviews but I’m making an exception for this one. I purchased the product through kick start and uploaded my Ancestry DNA results and was impressed with the results. There are a few medical conditions which some family members suffer or have suffered with, including myself which came up as high risk. Great features including vitamin recommendations and checking if certain foods should be avoided.

  • Exciting information backed by science

I cannot say enough! This is exactly why I participated in 23andme and this part is free. I am totally excited to adjust my diet to fit my genetics to live a healthier life! Colors make the app very fun, wish there were a few more categories like “metabolism” or something.
  • Great Start

This app is really great as is! Super handy for someone looking to optimize their food options and eat smarter! It would be great if there was a diary option or you could sync with something like myfitnesspal so you can track your macros in an easy to keep up with and intuitive way. I have a hard time doing hand journaling/ figuring out what I need to fit my macros.

Especially because this app breaks down macros so in depth! It’s far better than myfitnesspal when it comes to breaking down exactly what you need.

Thank you very much for kind words and great feedback. We are working on a few interesting new features. Can you please email us at hello@ginihealth.com? We will give you early access to those features to get your feedback. Thanks.
  • Lots of potential

This app seems to be in its early stages and is already very useful. As nutrigenomics develops more I’m sure we’ll see new features and information.

I would like to suggest that we can save foods so we can quickly refer to them to know their benefits (or drawbacks) instead of having to search every time.

  • I have uploaded my dna from Ancestry last night and nothing??

Right now I am giving it a 1 star. I have done everything, have the app, set up my account, logged in from non-mobile device, loaded my dna from Ancestry, logged in tonight and it is still at square one, asking me to load my dna. Pretty sure I have done it correctly because I have used other sites using my dna, never had a problem.

Sorry to hear that. Can you please email us at hello@ginihealth.com if it has not been resolved already?
  • Excellent source of information!

It said it would take 5 minutes when in fact it took a couple days. It gave evidence to issues I’m currently dealing with and some new information to be on the alert about. This is a remarkable app and I would recommend it.

    Developer Response

You experienced that issue on the first day when we released for Ancestry DNA customers. A few users faced the issue when their file format was not in the right format. But we corrected that within 12 hours. it should work for you now and for everybody. Sorry about that initial experience. Thanks!
  • Interesting!

I have no idea how accurate the information in this app is but it is really interesting and easy to use!
  • Personalized nutrient recommendations optimized for your genetic risks

I find this app to be extremely useful in learning more about the foods that I consume on a day to day basis. The best part is being able to target the nutrition needs that your body is lacking based on your genes which it recommends directly from my 23andme raw dna report. I am a very active individual and have tried so many different diets Over the last decade to find what works best for my body and in the process have tried to educate myself on nutrition along the way but I feel like it can be tricky sometimes as you are just shooting darts to see what sticks. This app is really awesome as it shows you stuff that you need to include in your diet based on the needs of your body (moderate, severe etc.) which helps to maximize my diet and health. I also love that it’s not just a health app that just counts calories because that’s not all that matters it shows every nutrition aspect and information about ingredients in that item. I love using the “lens” function just to see what certain foods are doing for me. Overall the app comes packed with so much information that has been extensively researched and convenient features, I have been making it part of my daily dietary considerations. The only thing the app can better today is grant me 3 wishes right now :)

Only seems to support ancestry and 23 and me. Not MyHeritage or others.

No option to delete your account from the app.

    Developer Response

MyHeritage report support will come soon. We are starting with 23andme and Ancestry to start. We just launched 4 days ago. One star rating is harsh for this :) Your signup information can be deleted too. You just need to send an email to support@ginihealth.com. Thanks!
