  • The best mobile RPG I’ve ever played

Occidental Heroes is deceptively simple to learn, inheriting combat elements from hex-based roguelike Hoplite while innovating on that formula for a party-based tactical experience. Beyond that, the game is full of well-written, narrative rich quests that draw you into this alternate-history colonial setting. Characters develop meaningful stories as you play, leaving you heartbroken when the ally who has been with you through thick and thin finally falls in battle. As if that wasn’t enough, the overworked map is charming and the various cities and settlements feature gorgeous little pixel-art tableaux. If you’re itching for a game with tactical combat, rich narrative, historical themes, and high replayability, Occidental Heroes is definitely worth your time (and the $2.99 that it costs to remove ads).

  • Masterpiece in developing

The game is fenomenal, the art atyle, the stories, the choices, the map, everything hit the the right spot for me. The mechanic is extremely easy to understand and get into, your choices does have weight to it which directly affect the outcomes, which in turn help each run unique from another. Though as it is still in developement (I hope) the game is quite "short" as once your team pick up the xps and upgrades, they kind of snow ball almost everyfight as the AI leave much to be desires. I only found this gem ~2 days ago and I already racked quite an embarassing amount of playtime already. One last grief I have with the game though is that once your party all finished their goals, you have to depart with them to recruit new ones to do their quest line which in turn drop the fire power of the team tremendously as the new guy not only is underlevel and geared, but the enemies are stronger as well.

  • Blown away

This game is absolutely fantastic. I’m usually skeptical about games like this. With a bit of imagination and understanding of the structure, this can turn into one of the best games you’ve touched. It’s an open world that really pays attention to details. You start off with a small party in a city. Slowly take on small quests until the cities start to trust the reputation of your team. Teams are customizable by firing a team member or asking someone to join your crew at the local tavern in any of the towns. Keeping in mind you have to constantly buy supply for your team, every movement has to be calculated because you burn through your supplies with every step. The world is vast and limitless. I’m an extremely impressed with this wonderful game. I’m buying just to support. I highly recommend to anyone looking for something to get sucked into. ITS WORTH IT.

  • Best role playing game on the AppStore

I’ve just got this game and have been glued to my phone for hours. I love all the random events and jobs you can accept. I’m in love with this game and hope it keeps getting better!
  • Great potential, just one problem

This game has amazing potential. It’s a shame that it has such an issue though. This issue is that you can’t tell how hard a fight is going to be until you start dealing and receiving damage. You would think that it wouldn’t be wise to engage in a fight when you’re outnumbered, however, there is no way to tell how many enemies will be in a fight beforehand, and it is possible to win some fights even though you’re outnumbered. Also, even if you end up retreating, if you have animals to carry supplies, you will lose them (I have never retreated with pack animals before so I’m going off what the game says). As I said, I believe this game has a lot of potential, but until they fix these issues, I don’t think that potential will be exposed.

  • Wow! Occidentally Perfect!

I am thoroughly impressed with Occidental Heroes. Everything is way better than you would expect from a free mobile game. The minimalist pixelated art style is uniquely charming. The gameplay concept is simple and a awesome throwback to classic role playing games. While the combat can be unforgiving, it is really quite fun once you get the hang of it. Some words of advice: don’t get attached to your characters, they will die or retire fairly quickly, be smart and extremely careful in combat, always stock up on supplies and buy pack animals, and make sure to not run out of money by always having 2 or 3 active quests. Finally, please download this game, it’s so fun and you will have a blast!

  • So impressed!

I’ve only played for about 3 hours and already I’ve come here to thank you for providing a genuinely amazing game! The writing and wit thrown into the relatively constrained-due-to-scope script is a facet that has particularly caught my eye to this point. I can tell real thought and passion was put into the lines. The combat is incredibly basic, strategic, and fun all in one. Please continue with regular updates of this game, or run with the concept and make something new, but whatever you decide keep it up!

  • Wow

Great game. I love the rouge like fell and the r and g. Permanent a death is a big plus. Playing cat and mouse with archers is hecka fun. I’ve only made 9 percent so far but can’t put it down. Must be a lot of content. Live what I seen so far. If you like turn base rpg. This is a must. I’m off line and the fact I can play it at my house is great.

  • Occidentally in love...

Maybe it’s the hexagons, pieced-together as if someone has painstakingly spent years going over every little detail of the story that unfolds as you move along them; maybe it’s the way nothing is handed to you, and it’ll take several play throughs to understand the real potential of your party members, and the game itself; maybe it’s the fact that I can start off as a woman (spoiler alert: am woman); maybe it’s the dev’s obvious love for the genre, which shines brightly in a world of gacha garbage.

Either way, I love this game and it’s exactly the challenge I was looking for. And it’s probably what you’re looking for, too.

  • What an amazing game

Occidental heroes when I started playing felt like a generic open world RPG but I was proven wrong. This game truly feels like a table top role playing game where every characters has their own backstory and goals to accomplish, and the perma-death system makes every battle feel important.

This game is amazing and you should definitely play it
