App has issues

i tried to rent a board for an hour and it would not work. it said “connecting” for over 10 minutes so i tried on another board ... same issue. i switched phones... same issue.
also it says $15/hr but charges your card $60 ! what a scam, no where did it say id be charged $60.
lastly, definitely work on the app or you will lose costumers

Good idea. Horrible execution.

There are too many items these guys need to fix. I love the idea and as an Angel investor I’m rooting for startup companies, but for goodness sake get your act together guys before you launch - - otherwise, you will lose the attention of your audience. And, with few barriers to entry a competently run company will easily steal your business.

As for customers, most of us never read the Terms & Conditions, in this case I highly recommend all customers do so because the rules they have are extremely one-sided and often open to interpretation, theirs.

Lastly, where in the T&Cs does it say anything about a single rental per phone? Where does it even mention a phone? Are the T&Cs different from that available from the PADL app prior to inputting one’s data? If so, I’d love to see that hold up in court.

In summary, the app developer has a great idea but should spend more time trying to earn customer’s loyalty and a little less time denying accountability and challenging negative reviews. Five-star reviews from friends and family won’t ensure business profitability.

Easy Peasy

Straightforward and easy to use app.

Didn’t work

I tried to rent 2 padl boards at the same station but it didn’t unlock. I couldn’t cancel bcs the app was shutting down. At least the support worked very well and called me to help.

You may be rattled after using padl

I will never understand why a company would want to scam you out of 15/20 dollars and not think long term. My kids enjoy the board and I think the padl concept is great. About a year ago I rented, was charged overtime because app was not working properly and app continues to think (and charge) for the paddle board once returned. Over a year later I rent again, same issue. But now they offer a plan of a one time fee for 30 days of use, very appealing. However, they do keep your credit card info and will continue to charge you every month... so you are really signing up for a membership, deceiving and a complete lie, I specifically called support to ask. The day I was charged for an extra month I reached out to Padl to let them know I do not want to renew. Their answer, “sorry, we can’t return your money.” You gain 20 bucks, you lose a customer for ever.... owner probably doesn’t even care anyway.

Hi ratherbgolfin@70, our $20 plan is a monthly membership which is billed monthly and allows for 2 hours of use per day. We also offer plans billed annually. Our $15 per hour rate is for those who do not want to sign up for our membership plans. I am sorry you did not see this when signing up, but it is in the description. We do care about our customers and would love to speak with you. Thanks!

Big issue

Crashes every time I need to finish the rent.

I can’t believe I couldn’t rent more than one paddle board with my App !! I have 2 kids and I could only rent One ???

PADL makes it easy to get out there on the water!

I love being able to have the option of using a paddleboard when I go to the beach. I probably wouldn’t have used one otherwise, but the fact that PADL makes it so easy to rent one right by the water really gives people an such an easy avenue to do this... kind of makes you wonder why anyone wouldn’t take advantage of that!!

Doesn’t connect to any digital wallet

Great idea, but fell short in execution. We were walking along the beach and were super excited when we saw paddle board rentals! But after taking the time to download the app and create an account, we still weren’t able to complete the rental because the app does not connect to any sort of digital wallet (e.g. Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, etc.) I don’t know about other people, but I don’t often happen to be carrying my credit card while walking on the beach, and luckily for my wallet I do not have the number memorized.

Hi Erryca, we are building this out for a future release, but if you are by our station next time you only need to enter your info 1 time for the initial rental and never again! Thank you for riding with PADL!
