  • Slooooooow

There is slow, and then there is what this app is. I usually get up and do something manually before I wait for this app to get me there.
  • Unable to use, locked at what’s new screen

Last update shows a What’s New screen which cant be dismissed. App is now unusable. iPhone 11 Pro Max. Have tried killing app and a power off.

    Required deleting app and reinstalling.
  • Geo fence is pretty bad

I get bounced in and out of my geo-fence, even with the fence set to the highest radius and high accuracy presence on. This makes a lot of important home automations useless.
  • Could be a 4 or 5

Update: my mistake if you tab the tile and look in the upper right hand corner there is a link there for the motion history. Raised my review from 3 to 4.

Please add the ability to see motion sensors logging activity from the dashboard. Seems it would be an easy item to include. Just bring up the logging activity when the tile is pressed. I’m sure many would greatly appreciate it.

  • Better Than Wink!

Just moved over from wink because they are extortion artists.

Hubitat seems to be much faster to respond than wink via the app as well as slightly faster response through alexa. Overall, very pleased with the product.

Automations can't be built via the app and must be done via browser. That feature should definitely be added. Also you can't discover devices via the app either.

That said, whoever designed the tile layout probably went to the Microsoft school of ugly tiles from 2005. The UI is as my wife said "something an intern would do". I'd gladly pay $5 for this app if it supported the development and the salary of a UX specialist. Lol its that bad.

Love this app and product though. Trying to be real with the criticism.

  • Will not log in

The app just hangs at the login screen after it says “Loading User Data”. No further action or message given (ie doesn't signal any login error, it just simply does nothing).
  • A Great Beginning to More Easily Access a GREAT Hub

After wasting money on the now defunct Wink, then moving over to a disappointing SmartThings, I found Hubitat, and there’s been no looking back! The local control and programming flexibility is EXACTLY what serious home automation enthusiasts are looking for. Those who critique the platform as “clunky” are likely looking for a glitzy interface with pre-defined automations that require no effort on their part. That’s great if you want to turn on the lights at sunset and off at a certain time. But, if you want the flexibility to THINK of new automation routines, there’s nothing more powerful / programmable than Rule Manager.

As for the app, folks need to realize it’s been out for less than a year. Some of the “features” being asked for pose a serious breach in security! Do I really want to be able to add new devices, program scenes or build dashboards remotely?? Hell no! Those are the kind of things that you do from home, behind your firewall, then provide access to other family members on a “need to have” basis. Last thing I need is to have my phone stolen, someone access my always on app (geofencing requirement) and start messing with everything that I’ve built.

So, to those who are hyper critical of Hubitat, and blasting these poor guys with 1 star reviews and negative comment, I say, go back to Wink and see how great a glitzy app is when the company goes out of business! I say... hurray, and thank the Hubitat development team for tirelessly working to provide a better experience for those of us who understand home automation is more than asking Alexa to turn on your lightbulb! ‘Nuff said!

  • Wish I had started with this instead of SmartThings

I’ve only had it for a bit and I’ve just stared migrating but I can already tell it’s awesome. It’s so nice having everything work quickly and reliably thanks to not depending on the cloud. I’ll post a more thorough review once I have it set up.
  • Not reliable

Terrible app, unable to sign in on iPhone and not consistent with continuous issues
  • Maybe someday

App is lacking core features like adding devices to hubitat. The whole dashboard setup needs to be rethought it is completely unpolished. There is no good way to organize devices besides strips of buttons.

For standard features others offer with hubitat you have to pay for a premium 3rd party application.

I’m not sure why its so hard for smart hub manufacturers to get everything to at-least the level of acceptable.

TLDR; not complicated like some say, dashboard interface is ugly.
