Hi Frank, thank you for providing this feedback and we're sorry that you have been having difficulty getting in touch with us. We are always working to improve the app performance and we routinely put out new updates to fix any issues that may arise. We recommend deleting the app and reinstalling it to ensure that you are using the most up-to-date version. If you are still experiencing these issues after doing this, please send us an email at contact@boatsetter.com and we will be happy to assist with further troubleshooting.

Needs Work

Fuel receipt upload is not consistent. I upload receipts via the app right at the gas station and find out later that Boatsetter never received them.

Has issues with check-in. I will check in the renter, collect signatures, and Boatsetter will have no record of it.

Owners - be sure to watch out for these very important items - go into your desktop to validate fuel and checkin.

THEY CANCELED MY WEEKEND RENTAL FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE START TIME BECAUSE THE DEADBEAT RENTER CALLED AND SAID THE LAKE WAS CLOSED. I CALLED THE MARINAS AND THEY WERE OPEN.

Absurd charges and rules

The fees and charges that this app takes are ridiculous. It takes 20% for itself, then another 15% for insurance. So you are left with 65% of your revenue. The insurance is issueless since it has a $7,500 deductible and my boat is only worth $5,000. And they take 20% for themselves because I donโ€™t have auto book turned on. So they expect you to allow anyone to book your boat without vetting them first. And someone comes along thatโ€™s not qualified and you have to cancel the trip, then your rating gets affected and you take even more money from you. Oh and you also canโ€™t captain your own boat unless you have a captainโ€™s license, but some random people who may have never owned a boat or driven one are perfectly fine to captain your boat when they rent it.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Boatsetter's fees are such to support the platform, which enables owners to connect with renters who might've never before had the chance to get out on the water. Our platform also provides owners with the an exlcusive peer-to-peer boat rental insurance through GEICO Marine - Boatsetter doesn't earn from the insurance rates; these are determined by GEICO. You're welcome to use any commercial insurance policy you prefer; our team can assist you with the transition. In order to be compliant with USCG laws, owners are not allowed to operate their boat during a charter unless they have a captains license. However, renters are able to operate a boat with the correct Boat Safety License required by their state. We strongly advise our owners to vet renters before operating your boat. For support or more information, please be sure to email us at contact@boatsetter.com

Boatowners Beware

Boatsetter charges a hefty insurance fee per rental to you the boat owner and the renter. However they approved my boat to someone with a horrible driving record who damaged the boat while drunk driving. The renter crashed my boat. Boatsetter wouldnโ€™t release the deposit money for repairs and instead referred me to Fair Claims to hold court! This was crazy. Boatsetter violated their own policy then loaded my claim off to mediation despite submitting time stamped photos of the damage and criminal driving record of renter. They take your insurance money but will not process claim. Now chasing my claim with the insurer directly. BEWARE ALL DAMAGE IS ON THE OWNER!!!

Thanks for reaching out to us here, and we understand your frustration. We always try to take care of our boat Owners as best we can. But there seems to be some miscommunication about our services, Boatsetter is partnered with GEICO BoatUS to facilitate safe boat renting for all, we do not provide insurance ourselves, therefore all the insurance claims are handled by insurance provider and not us. We hope this helps.

Needs lots of improvement multiple problems with this site.

Not Impressed
