Eh

No option to set / change star ratings, but the info screen displays the rating.

Widgets don’t update unless you interact with it or the app. The widget also has the app icon over the artwork - annoying.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback. Due to API limitations, it is not possible to change the star rating, only reading from the music library. In order to preserve battery life, iOS decides whether updating the widget is appropriate. The app has been configured to make sure the widget is updated as often as possible but eventually every third party app is at the mercy the system. I will take removing the app icon from the widget into consideration. If you have any more questions/feedback, feel free to email me at info@evenwerk.com

Solid alternative

I like the simplicity of the UI and the styling of the album and playlist elements. The lyrics pane is a clever implementation too. I would like to be able to perform actions such as like/dislike, changing modifying or hiding Home page sections or changing the style of the background elements.

Response from developer

I am glad to hear that you are enjoying Power Player! I will take a look into liking and disliking items. Home page sections can be hidden by deselecting them by tapping the two arrows in the upper right corner. What do you mean by changing the style of the background elements? You can reach me at info@evenwerk.com and I will take a look into it. -Tim

Fantastic

This is music player is top notch. My favorite part is definitely it's presentation. The amount of adaptive colors that is on display when you view your Now Playing, Album, Playlist, Artist Page and so on, has received so much care and attention, and it shows. Navigations between the different tabs (which are customizable) is extremely smooth and intuitive although more sorting options such as being able to sort by recently added while in the song or album tabs (similar to ios' native music app) would be a nice addition. One feature that is unfortunately a deal breaker for me is the inability too see what is Up Next in your music queue. Having to switch back to the native music app whenever I want to see or edit my queue really doesn't do it for me and I wished it was present in Power Player. I do hope that something of the sort gets implemented into the app in future updates. Overall the app is one of the best out there, the masterful implementation of adaptive colors is unmatched by any other music player out there which will keep me coming back.

Edit: I really appreciate the response, thank you for all that you've done on this player!

Response from developer

Thank you very much for the positive review and feedback! Unfortunately, due to API-limitations, I have not found a way to access the system music player's queue but would love to implement it if the API would allow it. Good alternative

This is a good alternative to the Apple Music app, but I wish I can search the entire Apple Music catalog and add songs to my playlist. That’s the only downside I’ve come across so far.

Response from developer

Thank you for the positive review! In the future, I will add full Apple Music support, though I cannot give a timeframe yet. If you have any more questions, feedback or feature requests, feel free to send me a message at info@evenwerk.com

Almost perfect!

Loving what you’ve done but wondering about a couple of things:

Is there a way to disable lyrics and have the now playing the only thing displayed?

Any plans to allow this to be decoupled from using the Music.app and allow me to upload to PowerPlayer itself?

Response from developer

Thank you for the positive review! An option to hide the lyrics will be added in the future. Currently my focus is on iTunes / Apple Music but I would love to add more data sources in the future. Feel free to send me an email at info@evenwerk.com if you have any more questions / feature requests. Tim

Deleted

No crossfade and no way to sort albums by artist.

Response from developer

Hi, I am sorry to hear Power Player doesn’t work as desired. Sorting albums by artist will be added in Power Player 1.6. Crossfade support depends on Apple as Power Player acts like a remote for the standard music app. If you have any more questions/ feature requests, feel free to contact me at info@evenwerk.com and I will do my best to help you out.

Excellent app

I haven’t had the app for long but I am really enjoying it. My favorite part is the ability to rotate my device and things will orient accordingly. I really like the new widget function too. If I could say one thing, and it’s honestly so minor it almost doesn’t matter, but I think it would be nice to pick a permanent background or background color both in app and for the widget.

Fantastic 😃

Hands down the "best" looking music app available. An absolute pleasure to use. Thank you for the time, effort and hours you have put into this.
Keep it up!

Off to a great start, just not quite there yet

This is the app I have been looking for for ages. Having a simple but fresh interface with my existing library is what’s so good about this app. However, at the moment, there isn’t much to do with the app, the only significant elements are what you are first shown when getting the app. I don’t mind so much as this app appears to be new I really want to see this idea being pushed further. Some thing I’d love to see could include options for themes (colours or styled elements), maybe animated icons?, or even a sort of home screen where you could arrange your favourite songs, albums or playlists in an easy to access place. There is so much more that can be done and I’m honestly excited for where this app could go!
