Excellent app for Laos
Excellent app for use in Vientiane and Luang Prabang. Quick, efficient and inexpensive transport. If linked to a card, there’s no need to handle cash. After the ride, one has an option to rate the driver and add a tip. We used it quite a lot during our stay in Laos. All our drivers were safe and careful. Just keep an eye on the exact position of the on-screen flag for the pick-up point. It sometimes seems to move a little when the ride is confirmed. It would be helpful to have the geo-localisation dot active on this page too, to help find the car.
Also registered for Loca Pay, within the same app. In time this should be really useful. It allows payment via the QR codes found in very many shops / restaurants etc. That is a common method of payment for Laotians. However in February 2023, we found that most QR codes are not yet updated to support Loca Pay. I only managed to use it three times (one was for train tickets via a LP agency, using a Union Pay QR code). Will it work yet for buying Laos-China Rail tickets in person? If so, many travellers will find it very welcome, as Visa / MasterCard / cash are not accepted.

The driver did not know where to go, the GPS didn’t work, he charged 30k more than booking.
