Miku Baby Monitor User Reviews

Avoid at all costs!!!!

Paid $540.00 to get this as a product without fees. Then the company introduces a fee for using the monitoring service. So dishonest and way over priced for what the product is. If you purchased this before knowledge of this was known and you live in Canada there is a class action law suit as this violates the consumer protection act. Definitely worth signing onto that.

Waste of (a lot of) money!

App continuously disconnects every few seconds, ‘no movement’ alarms have sounded when baby is not even in crib.

Unusable Monitor, Glitches Constantly

This is the most frustrating monitor on the market. It never worked consistently up front and had terrible video quality, mostly just frames shown as it glitched through the night. After going through the help process many many times, uninstalling, reinstalling, switching email addresses on file (not sure why that was suggested by the help desk, but here we are), and anything else they could think to tell me, the company kept blaming my internet connection. I pay for premium internet for my home business which can run multiple tv’s, multiple computers, and multiple phones simultaneously, so that’s hard to believe. I even installed a new router node right next to the Miku. No help. They replaced my unit after a ridiculous amount of arguing and blaming me, and the new one is still awful. The app has been telling us the unit is offline while it is running and the apps only work intermittently. I’ve tried to load it on two different phones and an iPad to use the sleep sounds and they all claim the unit is offline so I can’t even access or use the base functions. The product has gone from bad to worse. The developers used to have a feature that allowed you to create a default sound and video mode so I wouldn’t even need the app to turn it on, but they eliminated it on a previous update. Now that the app doesn’t work, this is now just a useless piece of plastic

Can’t go wrong with this camera

We’re really happy to have this camera. It alerted us to when we needed to stimulate our newborn during the night, the first night home after surgery, and we couldn't be more grateful. We do have the bassinet up against our bed and originally had the camera on our nightstand. We felt like the camera did pick up the movement of the space heater and whoever is sleeping on the bed right next to the bassinet. The camera also sent out alerts and picked up breathing when baby wasn't in the bassinet. So we ordered the floor stand and now the breathing reading is way more accurate. We did get one alert when baby wasn't in the bassinet, but so far less alerts than when the camera was on the nightstand. Other than that, this camera has been great and would recommend it to everyone. We like that we can view the bassinet wherever we are in and around the house, even when one of us is out of the house. With another camera we have downstairs you have to be within range to view. Setting it up was fine, and connecting it took a couple of tries but once connected it's been great.

Connectivity and Recorded Activity

I’ve been using Miku for over a year now. It started out great. Over time and particularly over the last couple months we need to open and close the app at least 10 times a day to get it to work. I stare at the “connecting securely to miku” message over and over only for it to finally say “unable to connect”. I know the Wi-Fi is working fine. This happens multiple times a day now. I update the app as it says improvements are for connection stabilization and it’s the same thing or worse.
Now what further upsets me is ever since they’re pushing Care+ the amount of Recorded Activity history has decreased and often now I click on it as I need it to review what happened earlier in the morning as I’ve been doing for the past year and now it often says no recorded history available for the date chosen. Check back later. WHY. Put it back to how it was before. PLEASE. I used to recommend Miku but now how can I? I specially chose Miku for the data available without subscription. If you want to offer subscription now for advanced data then great. But don’t take away what was included before. I guarantee I’m not the only unhappy customer.
Bring back the included activity history and improve the connection. NOW. Then I might be open to subscribing to Care+.

Great monitor but sadly worst app I have ever used

This monitor is one of the best quality monitors on the market.

The really sad thing is the app is the worst app I have ever used. It simply does not allow you to set up the monitor. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app over 10 times and after about 10 hours of trying it just randomly works one time.

If you ever move the monitor and have to unplug it you are in big trouble as you need to go through all this again.

I have read many reviews online and so many people have the same problem so I know it’s not just me.

It’s really so sad as like I said it’s an amazing monitor, but sadly Miku have made no effort in the app set up and should just shut down as a company due to all the pain they cause.

App needs work, support avoids roadmap discussions

The camera itself is OK but feels like a basic camera when all is said and done. There are too many limitations to the vitals tracking feature and sound notifications are useless if you use an external white noise device. The mobile app seems to mostly work in the background but sound doesn’t always stick, might be related to disconnections. Unclear why picture-in-picture is not implemented yet, seems like a no brainer. Zooming/panning experience needs to be improved. Camera appears to only connect to WiFi 5 access points (using Ubiquiti gear) even though my WiFi 6 access points have no issues with other WiFi 5 devices connecting to them; this is an issue as the camera ends up connecting to an access point that is much farther away. Support team is quick to respond but does not say much other than that they’ll share with engineering. In this day and age, I think it’s unacceptable to not confirm whether something is on the roadmap, it’s not like we’re asking for a time commitment. Overall, I was expecting to be blown away by a product at this price level but I really haven’t been thus far. I’m happy to provide a higher rating if the team makes some of these improvements.

So many issues

This monitor cannot be trusted for the function it is supposed to be for. I cannot trust it to stay on all night. And it also cannot recognize when my baby is away (which it used to be able to do). If I pick my baby up in the middle of the night to feed her, the alarm goes off on my phone which wakes everyone up and is not supposed to happen. I’m half asleep in the night I can’t remember to take my phone and turn off the alarm when I get up to feed her every time. So I have to keep the alarm function off permanently to avoid that. Which defeats the whole purpose of spending $500 on this thing. On top of that I have woken up with it not on at all for some unexplained reason and realized it (because it was much past the time my baby normally wakes up) and turned it back on to realize my baby was crying for who knows how long. Our room is far enough away that we cannot hear the baby at night when we are dead asleep over the noise of the air conditioner. I ended up buying the cheap monitor and camera we have for our older son because I cannot rely on this in any way. The sound machine function also randomly turns off sometimes. The only thing this monitor is good for now is a night light and to allow me to venture out into the yard where my other monitor’s signal won’t reach as far. This is way too expensive for such a piece of junk. Do not get this monitor. Super disappointed.

Loving this monitor so far!

One of the things that drew me to this particular monitor is the simplicity and ease of set up. It all comes beautifully packaged was very clear instructions on how to install. Installation takes only a few minutes. You can pick between a wall mount and a floor stand which is very helpful. During set up, the monitor connected to Wi-Fi the first time with ease. I like how sleek this monitor is. My very favorite thing about it is that there are no wearables required. I didn’t have to purchase any extra swaddles or bands to be able to access the insights while baby is sleeping. You are also not required to purchase a package to be able to get insights on your phone. They come included with the package. This monitor can also easily be taken on the road to be able to monitor baby while sleeping. Overall I am very happy with this well thought out product and I highly recommend it to anyone with a baby on the way.

Expensive piece of garbage

Honestly save your money and just buy a cheaper camera as this one is not worth it. It constantly disconnects from wifi with no warning and then makes you go through the whole setup process from scratch (locating it via Bluetooth, typing in your wifi password over and over again). Sure the setup process takes 5 mins, but it’s not something you want to be doing in a hurry to check on your crying baby when this should already be setup and functioning with no worries. On top of this the monitor and app automatically updates with no warning either! So at 5am when you want to check on your baby, the thing again isn’t working because it’s running an update with zero prompts or consent from the user. And is completely unusable while doing so. The whole system is a waiting disaster, literally. It’s dangerous for it to be this unreliable.
I wish there was a way to turn off auto updates because on top of the bad timing and how frustrating they are… they also constantly cause the camera and app to crash! While the updates say they’ll last no longer than 10 minutes, that’s never been the case. Every system update so far has lasted at least 12 hours before I became so frustrated with it and have had to turn everything off, uninstall the app, uninstall the camera from the app and basically do a factory reset. The frustration and panic that this thing causes is a parents worst nightmare.
