This app gives me the incredible ability to carry around a powerful 3D scanner in my pocket. This app is both fun to play around with and provides incredible opportunities for 3D artists to integrate real life people into our work. Scan everything, you'll be glad you did
No seriously, scan everything! It's super convenient being able to pull your phone out and take measurements of your stuff whenever you need. Took a scan of my house plants because duh. Weeks later I was able to get the perfect container while I was at Target since I could just pull out my phone and measure their planters! There's always room for improvement in any app but I love scanning all the things, it's awesome.Show lessh c w

This app isn’t polished enough to warrant the pricing model (looses tracking pretty quickly on iPhone X). Also, there isn’t any cloud processing or anything to warrant the pricing model since its all handled by the local hardware.
Lastly, it says it works on iPad but it doesn’t. The app starts by asking you to press the button but there is no button to press on the iPad. Tested with the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”.
Good design ideas are the haptic taps when it looses tracking.
The developers will tell you you don’t need cloud processing or networked connections but are charging with a model that acts like you are. You can get away with charging per-scan IF you are providing a service to each scan, but the developers are not. They expect you to pay for a subscription without providing anything on their end. This is a poor model and someone there knows it but is too stubborn to do anything about it. I imagine a competitive product is on the horizon that has their act together. Hi Justin. Thanks for trying Scandy Pro. We made Scandy Pro so that scanning could be done without a network connection and your scans could stay private without the need for remote processing. We make no claims that we are processing in the cloud. We are asking users to pay for patented on-device meshing software with a software-as-a-service model. Those users that find scanning useful to their workflow (or simply fun) appreciate the pay-as-you-go model. We offer every user a free save every week. We also offer a free app - CappyAR that allows unlimited free scan uploads to the Cappy stream. Scandy Pro does work on the iPad as a mirrored device for networked scanning. While we intend to enable Scandy Pro on the new TrueDepth iPad Pro models, we have not made any claims that you can capture a scan on the new iPad Pros yet. While there are other 3D apps out there this is the only one I have used that gives pro features like access to editing tools in the app. I can clean up a scan without sending to my laptop first.pierre_the_great

Best 3D scanning app in the App Store
The best 3D scanning app of all the ones I tried. A year sub costs way less than hardware attachments that offer comparable quality scans. Scan quality is excellent. No hardware needed. I can edit a scan in the app easier than on my laptop. I’m using this app to take scans the way I would pictures. Awesome.Show less3D Monk

App works okay. However, it keeps asking for my iTunes password - I suspect it’s not handling the Apple receipt correctly and has to re-download it every time. That’s a bit annoying, enough that I don’t want to continue paying.

After the latest update, I’m now able to save my scans and export them for cleanup in Meshmixer as intended. It works pretty well for faces if you move very slowly, but I haven’t had much luck scanning other objects yet. This is a great start—looking forward to seeing it evolve.Edward1708
Paying to save scans is idiotic
Charging per save or a subscription to save is beyond stupid.
At least let me save in the app even if I can’t export somewhere else.
The app isn’t even that good at capturing a 3D scan but I thought it would be neat to show off the capabilities of the iPhone X.

I get it, apps cost money. I’m a software developer myself. Do you use cloud services per saved scan that incur a cost? It seems like no.
If all processing is happening on-device then paying to save the scan doesn’t make sense. Is there some other licensing cost you are trying to offset?
Barring that, there is no justification for a subscription model or per-scan charging.
Calling it a ‘Pro’ version but charging to actually use the app is misleading and obviously frustrating to potential customers like myself.Show lessjak1948493

Thanks for trying Scandy Pro. We appreciate the feedback. Since po-boys aren't free, our scans can't be either. We want everyone to be able to try 3D scanning with Scandy Pro. Subscriptions are available for users who want unlimited downloads. Casual users can pay per-download when they capture a great scan. There is NO fee to download the app or to try out 3D scanning. We continue to invest in the app and are committing to improving the feature set so capturing 3D scans with Scandy Pro is easier, faster, and more fun.
