App continuously logs me out

I hate having my time wasted. I bought these devices as a convenience to myself, but it turns out I’m constantly logged off of TCP the device itself works fine. It’s this app that is offensive. I highly doubt some nefarious hacker wants to turn on my living room lights. How about giving me the option of logging off or simply staying logged on instead of you always doing it for me.

Uk Council house trying to do it trendy

I’ve been using this app and these lightbulbs for more than one year now it works brilliant no problems at all. Everything is connected and all good and lifespan of the product is brilliant. I would recommend it.
You cannot connect it to Google
Well, I’ve not found the way yet
But except from that, everything is good

Not plug Status

App works fine except for not showing the smart plug status on the home screen you have to click on each plug to see if it’s on or not, the lights do show the status plus on the box for the lights it says you can use siri can’t see how tried different ways of setting this up

It’s alright, could be better

I have a TCP Smart LED strip lights. The box said that it was compatible with Siri, so I tried to set it up. I spent half an hour trying to do this. Just to realise that it doesn’t work with Siri. I am annoyed about this because the box said they were compatible. Sometimes the app is slow to load. The setup was quite easy. It could do with better instructions with more detail for people who don’t know how to use. Apart from everything else, I love my LED lights. It will maybe be good to include a remote instead of just the app. Also making some of the scenes of LED lights better. Apart from all of this, the lights are quite good.
I have also found that sometime the lights turn on by themselves, meaning I have a come home on my LED lights are on. I don’t know why this is I would like that to be prevented so that they are not on all day. So I would really like to see a remote as well as app so that it is easier for some people.

Great stuff

I’ve had a number of different males of WiFi bulb and I have to say these have been the best by far they don’t disconnect for no reason I’ve had my bulb in for over a year with no problems but the other bulb from a different manufacturer stopped working after 3 days then I had a fight to get it replaced and 2 months on it randomly disconnects for no reason and just his out then back on after a bit nothing but trouble , so get this bulb the app is great really easy and a lot of options

What a company?

I have a number of TCP bulbs that are now useless! Shortly after purchasing the bulbs and controller, the company discontinued the remote access feature and now the original app has disappeared so I can’t even control my bulbs on site? Why eliminate it?

Amazing lighting

Personally use these products to light up my reptile vivariums and they are perfect for mimicking day/ night time with the use of app available . Can also be used for any circumstances whether it be while you are away on holiday, or day trips and you want to switch lights on in your home to deter break ins etc . This system is the answer . Highly recommend. Easy to connect and use.

Not Quite worse than useless - but almost!

If you are looking for a complicated, capricious and challenging life then there are two choices; marry the wrong person or download the TCP Smart App.

This software has been a total nightmare. Tech support from TCP has been almost useless and installation/setup instructions are meagre and do cover the “do nots” and for a while the FAQ section of the website was down for weeks.

I am now on my second set of replacement GU10 RGB bulbs as some were going rogue on me and after over 30 hours of trying to set up 7 bulbs in a group I may have cracked it.

DO NOT feed the circuit via a switch that you use; turn on the switch and leave it on. Control the bulbs only via the app (NOT in the instructions)

Do not have a 5GHz WiFi signal in the same county; as this system is 2.4GHz only and this has caused me problems. If you have both make sure that you split the modem output into 2.4 and 5 with different names.

I am an electrician and do not like to be beaten; had this job been for a customer the word “profit” would not have come into it.

These are the cheapest smart bulbs on the market and you seem to get what you pay for ( I have not tried any other, more expensive, brands though).

Finally, with a 2.4GHz only modem, an un-switched supply, a second set of bulbs (these have recently been updated as well 8/8/22) and 30 hours of my life that I will never get back they “appear” to now be working.

WiFi (UK light) Switch support!!!

In short, the app needs to be updated to include this device (both single and dual gang light switches).
Very nearly returned the device to the shop as there didn’t appear to be any way to set-up, either manually or automatically.
The light switch doesn’t appear in either the ‘lighting’ or ‘power’ section of devices. Several hours of trial and error, including turning off 5Ghz WiFi and trying anything that seemed close to in terms of device type... finally tried the ‘in-line switch’ in the ‘Power’ devices section and the single gang light switch we’d fitted, finally connected.

Written on-line information is scant and very confusing, FAQ’s on TCP site of no use and no set-up videos are available.

The information card in the box was for a ‘downlight’ and not a ‘light switch’.

Hope this feed back is useful to TCP and anyone trying to connect a TCP single gang light switch.
