  • It’s a beautiful game

I’ve been giving it some time, and its become a bit of a great time waster. Don’t think I’d pay for anything extra. The wait times seem way too long when I want to casually play
  • Often crashes and overheats my iPhone 6

Hi, ok game mildly addictive that makes you wait and gems get you very little for $60 of real money. Can’t play this game and charge my cellphone at the same time because overheating of the device crashes the game.
  • Looks terrific, but can’t play it

A fun game and I’d love to play it lots but it literally crashes every few minutes of play time on an iPad.
  • Frequent crashes

This update makes the game unplayable. I can’t even get one minute of game play without a crash on my iPhone. So disappointed for an otherwise good game.

    Developer Response

Hi, please make sure to drop us a support ticket so we will be able to investigate this further. TS2 team
  • Looks nice, shallow as tinkers’ bath!

Initial impressions of this game are good with its cartoony graphics and nicely modelled locos but after about an hour, it seems like you’ve seen all the game has to offer gameplay wise. Collect this, make that, collect this, make that and so on.
You seem to have to do everything yourself, there’s no autonomy with the trains so the game is constantly needing you to complete a job then set another train off to collect some iron bars for upwards of 15 minutes of real world time!
It takes too long to level up and as others have said, it feels like you’re being funnelled to spend money very early to make progress. I am now at a point where I can’t complete a ‘story’ mission because none of the 8 trains I own is capable of transporting the necessary goods even though it’s the same type as a few missions previous. I’m sure if I ponies up for a real money purchased box it would contain the required loco but the game hasn’t convinced me that it’s worth the money.
It’s a shame because it feels like there is potentially a decent game here but it’s spoilt by the constant need to micromanage everything, then wait for the privilege of doing it all over agin!

  • Quick Fall

I was a huge fan of the first Train Station game, and I was a huge fan of this game, right up until the last update (1.8.0).

Usually a game has to be out for a few months before they “balance” it, making it completely unfair for everyone but the developers. The game just reached that point in the last update (1.8.0). It’s been, what, a few weeks? And they’ve already wrecked it. Good job guys.

How did they do it you ask? Well:
You can’t directly buy trains in this game, they can only come from loot boxes. That in itself is a very scummy move. The only way you can get these loot boxes is by; buying them with the premium in game currency (which costs real money to buy), or with keys, that you received by completing missions. You also received one every 8 real life hours for free.

However, with the latest update (1.8.0), you now receive a much worse value loot box (it only contains train upgrade parts, not actual trains) every 4 real life hours. As well as now receiving much, MUCH less keys from missions. In a mission that used to give about 25 to 35 keys, now only gives you 1. To make it clear they have not decreased the cost of the loot boxes, they’ve just made them 20 to 30 times longer to get.

In conclusion, do not, and I mean DO NOT download, support, or spend money on this game.

If this changes in future I’ll change/remove this review. I really do like this game, but they ruined it already.

  • Best Train game on the App Store

I want to start off by saying this is the best train game on the app store. The graphics are beautiful and the train models are top notch! I have been playing for several weeks so I could write an honest review and you all have created a wonderful train game! I can’t get enough of it. The only things I think could make it better are these. I would love to be able to hear more of the “cugga cugga cugga” sound of the steam trains when you zoom in on them just to add to the realism of the steam trains along with the sound of the wheels. I also think it would be cool if the trains sounded their wistle in the overworld when leaving a station or material area. Also since we get to watch out trains go around a beautifully crafted world while they pick up or deliver , I think adding a weather cycle with rain, thunderstorms, snow. etc would make the world even more vibrant and active. Just a few thought from a train game lover! Thanks again for developing such a great game!

  • Fun stuff

Ignore the bad publicity in these reviews, I’ve been happily using and enjoying TS2 without any issues on my iPad. It is rather simple but do I always want complicated? I look forward to a bit of mindless Zen. It didn’t work well on my iPhone.
  • Slightly annoying glitch

Train Station 2 is a very nice game full of detailed real-life based Trains, objectives to keep you busy and it’s much better than the original. However, when I’ve almost completed a job my device crashes. I don’t know if it’s the game or my device but besides that, I love this game and highly recommend it!

  • It could have done better

This game just lacks so much gameplay and it feels like there’a nothing to do.
