Not free in any sense.
Every option seems to cost 6.99 - What a rip off. Uninstalled moments after installation. Apps like this should be removed from the app store as they don't have any functionality unless an 'in-app' purchase is made. If it's free to download, it should at the very least have *some* functionality. Complete waste of time.

Only VPN App with Shortcuts support
So I use it for that mostly.
I do wish it allowed custom connections. Uploading openVPN files is nice, but if the VPN you want to connect to doesn’t use one of the supported providers or openVPN you’re up a river. Please add custom L2TP at least eh!

Works well
Application is completely free if you configure the vpn profiles manually. Would be nicer if there is a kill switch.

I love that is is always on and doesn’t randomly shut off when your phone is locked. And that you can add trusted networks.
Excellent Multi-VPN App!
I had previously been using both OpenVPN and the NordVPN apps to manage access to my home network. When I discovered Passepartout, it solved two problems with one app.
Pro Tip: Setup shortcuts, it'll save you the time from manually going into the app when you want to swtich VPNs.

The Gold Standard
There’s really no comparison between this app and the official OpenVPN app, or really many individual VPN providers’ apps. This “just works,” and does so reliably. My only suggestion would be to look into including more VPN providers (e.g., ExpressVPN) in the template list. Also, maybe just me, but I’d be more so interested in a subscription-based (yearly) model to always have new features versus the pay-per-feature model.

Worth the in-app purchase. OpenVPN Connect forces you to import profiles one by one which is time consuming for providers with multiple server locations. This allows for integration of VPN providers and importing custom .ovpn configuration files.

The automatic (on/off) switching of the tunnel is just perfect for my needs.
