This is what OpenVPN should be

Some of the instructions are confusing, and was hard for me to find, but worth it. I had been waiting for some way to do a quick push button on for a VPN so I didn’t have to navigate menus and everything. The instructions seemed to indicate that this wasn’t possible. However, as long as you have a Siri shortcut, you can use Shortcuts to put a button on your Home Screen to turn it on. I couldn’t get my NordVPN working, but with a little scripting, I can turn off my home VPN and start Nord without a hassle. I wish more developers would update good apps like this to use new Apple API’s. Keep up the good work. I have pretty much chucked the OpenVPN app. It was hard for me to import my ovpn files, but once I got them in iCloud, I was able to figure it out.

Great app!

Does exactly what it sets out to do. Setup is extremely easy. It’s easy on the battery as well. About the only thing missing a kill switch for all network connections if VPN is lost but I’m certain Apple prevents this function.

Happy but not happy...

Update: It works now. I’s been “stuck” on LA for a while (I still don’t understand what was wrong), but now I’m back in NY.
Thanks for the answer, I’ll contact you if needed.

Orig: Safe open VPN...was happy with it!
The problem is, it always connects to Los Angeles servers. I opted for Eastern US configuration, but the “automatic” Endpoint within the app always connects me to LA. If I chose the “manual” Endpoint and link it to my VPN provider’s US Eastern configuration, it fails to connect (it keeps trying but it never succeeds). I’m thinking to delete it.

Response from developer

Hi, you’d better contact me with details about the provider and how to reproduce the bug, otherwise you can’t expect me to fix it without information. Cheers

Still deleting everything

Still deleted profiles after last update. Deleted app and redownloaded. Can import ovpn profiles but will no longer connect to the server (negotiation timeout occurred) This app needs to be reverted.

Works great with PiVPN

I have a raspberry Pi 3 running PiVPN on my home network and this app works great with the .opvn profile generated by the Pi right out of the box. I especially appreciate how the app automatically enables and disables the vpn when it disconnects and reconnects to my home’s WiFi network.

I like that the VPN can be always on except when I am on my home network

This is a really excellent app.

Works with a major provider that I use without any set up. Works with my personal VPN that takes lots of set up.

Thank you.

Almost there

Very good app that allows the connection to latch even if the device is sleeping. Only issue is that VPN throughput is a lot slower than with OpenVPN Connect. I hope the developer fixes this soon.
MY RESPONSE BELOW —>
Response to Developer’s Response: It is slower on both private server and popular providers. I noticed that with Open PN connect, a tun interface is created with a standard MTU of 1500. With Passepartout, it always weirdly picks 1250 and doesn’t even pass any tun-mtu or related values back to the server. Since Passepartout completely ignores tun-mtu and it’s related settings, there is no way to fix the bad throughput on the client end. Fixing it on server end is not an option for a lot of us since it will mess up lots of other clients or we may not be in control of the OpenVPN server. Please can you add the capability to manually change MTU or please pass the mtu values to the server and use standard MTU of 1500? Thanks.

Response from developer

Hi, could you provide a measure? Is it a private server or a provider? Thanks, Davide

Pretty interface with fine tune control

Love it! Only thing is I wish there was an explicit killswitch mode to prevent internet when disconnected from the VPN.

New to iPhone...App solved my biggest issue!

I just moved to an iPhone 12 from nothing but Google pixels and nexus before that...On all these devices I ran open VPN client which would automatically connect to my personal VPN based on Wi-Fi trusted networks. I was considering switching back purely for that function until I found this app.

Within a few minutes I had it up and running and tested multiple times successfully! Works great using OpenVPN!

Awesome, thanks! Davide

Great app

It's a really good app, and the fact that you can have all you VPN from different providers all in one place is superb.

Response from developer

Hi! Version 1.12.0 fixes the issue with your uncredited purchases, which means upgrading the app should do the trick. After confirming the fix, please consider updating your review accordingly. Thanks for your patience! Davide
