Do not pay for it

In terms of the game itself, it’s worth play. But keep in mind, don’t pay for it anyway. After playing this game for 700 days, what I feel is completely fooled in recent 3 banners, I personally pulled 1 single hero in new character to 6 star banner but failed to get another continuously. Just a warm remind before you download this game.

Hi Commander! Each time you summon in Langrisser, you'll have a chance to get your favorite heroes instantly. The chances are the same for everyone, and are based purely on luck! Please feel free to follow our Facebook fanpage, and find out how to use some of the most common heroes to create some of the game's most formidable lineups!

Basically Anime Advance Wars!

If you ever loved Advance wars from many years back on the Nintendo DS and love anime? This game pretty well has both! I only downloaded this game for the Overlord anime crossover but now I’m hooked. I’m not much of a fan of having to upgrade literally everything from gear, to soldiers, to hero classes... BUT that’s the versatility that makes online and customizing your team to your liking works! As I played I didn’t really feel restricted. As long as I had the time I could get something beneficial done. The story didn’t feel forced on me and I could enjoy some of the side quests or just grind with some friends. Really cool game, I’d check it out :) game only really starts to slow down around lvl 38 as far as leveling goes. But still PLENTY of content!

I rarely ever do this but...

So, I rarely leave reviews but I’ve seen some unfair reviews about levels, pull rates, and new player rewards.

First levels are only so helpful. Being the same level doesn’t really mean that much; players need to worry about enchants, bonding up stats, and upgrading equip. Sounds daunting but you can totally get by for a long time with SR stuff and heroes while you save up stuff.

Pull rates aren’t incredible but I’ve never had an issues with getting a decent amount of SSR pulls during banner events. Stick to destiny banners where you get guaranteed characters.

New players get a free and useful SSR hero for completing stuff, just login daily and do what you need to. They also have a wishlist system that helps you lock in specific SSRs that you want. There are lots of online resources that help you figure out who is worth pulling for.

Lastly, the game rewards daily play. Login daily and do all your daily missions and plug away. Before you know it you’ll have some real strong characters. There are plenty of ways to farm resources.

It’s a strategy game, so you do have to pay attention to learning the game mechanics if you want to be successful.

I really enjoy the game and will play it for a while to come.

Loot boxes, grind, & power creep. Pay to play at high levels.

When I first got this game, I was excited by the tactical RPG gameplay and beautiful anime art style. The core game and story are well executed and fun to play. There’s a ton of content and features between the main story quest, time rift quests, secret realm, team battle, and pvp arena.

However, once you get to around level 30, the game balance goes out the window. Enemy characters at the same level and type as yours have nearly double the stats. It becomes near impossible to win unless you level grind to far outmatch enemy levels.

The game is really designed to draw you in, then exponentially increase the progression curve to push you to make in app purchases for random lootboxes, crystals and xp. This is a predatory design model. Stay away from pay to play schemes.

P2W...seriously

A grind game is fine if you can grind...but you cannot as everything in this game requires energy. The energy is precious beyond belief, and it’s insane how quick it’s gone. A single level can take you a week before you can get it, and energy refill is expensive. Add in factions amongst units, which is a must for much content, and star levels that require you to pull multiple units or grind ANOTHER limited daily quest...suffice to say this game finds enough ways to stall you into paying that those who are advancing either have way to much time or are whaling in a way that should be genuinely concerning.

The cost of a single 10 pull is also ridiculous ...and my god the rates are low. Bringing us back to the star levels and the factions...you need to pull to get units that match faction bonuses, and need to pull multiple to get star levels up....come on. Don’t even pretend to state this game is meant to be “challenging” when the tactics are obviously designed to push players towards the shop. The games sudden increase in difficulty is staggering, and without a full set of perfect equipment and 6 star/faction equal units you can’t even begin to engage in “tactic” based fights. The devs have left multiple comments on other reviews stating it’s meant to provide a challenge to f2p players...don’t listen...and anyone who is leaving positive reviews is perpetuating the very worst in gacha game tactics.

I usually hate this kind of game

Well, where can I start? I downloaded this purely because I was bored of everything else I could find and didn’t expect much from it.

Boy was I wrong... A content rich turn based strategy game with an interesting story and plenty of pvp options, that isn’t pay to win in the slightest.

It gives you plenty of options to grind your way through the game very enjoyably with little disadvantage against paid players, that is really fun to spend a few hours on.

Could do with a couple more battle maps and possibly supporting soldier types, but I love it and intend to play it for months/years to come

Way to Grindy

The game is fun to an extent, when you start out it’s pretty fun and cool to play until you reach around lvl 30 or 40 this is when you have to grind everything and levels lose their meaning, the summons are way to expensive in the game they literally push you to go to the store if you wanna get better troops, even then it doesn’t change much because it’s so rare and difficult to even get an ssr from the ticket summon, strategies are obsolete and overall this game is literally just a quick cash grab from the developers, it’s just pay to win the higher level you get, and don’t even get me started on the ais, If it’s friendly and on the field let us control them instead of then diving head first screaming LEROY JENKINS at the top of their lungs only to have the complete enemy team surround them and kill them to have the mission lost. I thought this game had potential when it first came out even before, it’s more grindy than an anime game when you’re grinding for levels. I regret the time and money I put into the game, and there’s a special place to put my boot for you game developers.

Hi Commander! Langrisser was designed to grant non-paying players a challenging tactical RPG experience. With a plethora of classes, soldiers, equipment effects, terrain bonus and lineup strategies, even if you choose to play for free, you can surprise your fellow players and even yourself with the strategic possibilities in your arsenal!

Horrendous customer support

They’ll only provide customer support if you’re a whale. If you use Facebook to log in and Facebook purges you in their mass purges, you lose your account forever because zlongame will do nothing to help you, even though they will work to recover BOUGHT accounts, so long as the player is a whale (I personally know such people who they helped). Lost 2.5 or so years. Inexcusable. Will never forgive zlongame for this.

Update: Zlongame actually replied to this review and told me to email their support *again* as they would “like to help me out”. I did so, then waited for a response. Eventually they did respond saying exactly what they said before - that they “have no way” to help me, when I know for a fact this is a lie, because I personally know people that they helped out of this identical problem. So 12 days after losing access to my account and talking to their support multiple times, zlongame goes out of their way to make me think they will actually do something, and then they don’t. Wonderful.

Best strat rpg on the market

Most polished game on the App Store. The in game chat interface works flawlessly on your handheld device. I walk to work and can communicate mid stride. Pvp arena is the true end game and it is done extremely well. You can link matches in game to share with friends. And the devs are taking measures to allow new players. Soldier training will eventually be capped, so once they are maxed, they are maxed. It will still take time, but if you are committed you can build a team to compete in due time. It’s extremely f2p friendly as well. If you summon a ssr hero, you can mix it’s stats in 80 days. That’s just one copy. You can obviously summon dupes to speed things up. My credentials? I’ve been gaming since 85, 35 years. This is all I play now, mostly because I’m married w 3 young boys. My fellow gamer dads know the struggle. But yah, this is the best game on the App Store. Period. FEH isn’t even close...

Doesn’t care about the customers

This game is really fun, lots to do without getting bored, and stories are engaging. But why I’m giving a 1 Star is because they don’t care at all about their customers. They recently merged their servers, and anyone with the same name as another account had their name automatically changed. They let whoever had the oldest account keep their name, but this usually belongs to a “dead account”. So a lot of active players have lost there name to these dead accounts, but they won’t give reclaims to names even under these circumstances. All they gave for compensation was 50 crystals, which is essentially nothing, given that 50 crystals are what you have to pay in order to change whatever name they automatically gave you. It’s like a slap in the face to people who have continued supporting the game. If they actually cared about their customers they should find a way to deal with dead accounts or at least give actual compensation for such a forced change.
