Do not pay for it
Response from developer
Hi Commander! Each time you summon in Langrisser, you'll have a chance to get your favorite heroes instantly. The chances are the same for everyone, and are based purely on luck! Please feel free to follow our Facebook fanpage, and find out how to use some of the most common heroes to create some of the game's most formidable lineups!
Basically Anime Advance Wars!
I rarely ever do this but...
First levels are only so helpful. Being the same level doesn’t really mean that much; players need to worry about enchants, bonding up stats, and upgrading equip. Sounds daunting but you can totally get by for a long time with SR stuff and heroes while you save up stuff.
Pull rates aren’t incredible but I’ve never had an issues with getting a decent amount of SSR pulls during banner events. Stick to destiny banners where you get guaranteed characters.
New players get a free and useful SSR hero for completing stuff, just login daily and do what you need to. They also have a wishlist system that helps you lock in specific SSRs that you want. There are lots of online resources that help you figure out who is worth pulling for.
Lastly, the game rewards daily play. Login daily and do all your daily missions and plug away. Before you know it you’ll have some real strong characters. There are plenty of ways to farm resources.
It’s a strategy game, so you do have to pay attention to learning the game mechanics if you want to be successful.
I really enjoy the game and will play it for a while to come.
Loot boxes, grind, & power creep. Pay to play at high levels.
However, once you get to around level 30, the game balance goes out the window. Enemy characters at the same level and type as yours have nearly double the stats. It becomes near impossible to win unless you level grind to far outmatch enemy levels.
The game is really designed to draw you in, then exponentially increase the progression curve to push you to make in app purchases for random lootboxes, crystals and xp. This is a predatory design model. Stay away from pay to play schemes.
P2W...seriously
The cost of a single 10 pull is also ridiculous ...and my god the rates are low. Bringing us back to the star levels and the factions...you need to pull to get units that match faction bonuses, and need to pull multiple to get star levels up....come on. Don’t even pretend to state this game is meant to be “challenging” when the tactics are obviously designed to push players towards the shop. The games sudden increase in difficulty is staggering, and without a full set of perfect equipment and 6 star/faction equal units you can’t even begin to engage in “tactic” based fights. The devs have left multiple comments on other reviews stating it’s meant to provide a challenge to f2p players...don’t listen...and anyone who is leaving positive reviews is perpetuating the very worst in gacha game tactics.

I usually hate this kind of game
Boy was I wrong... A content rich turn based strategy game with an interesting story and plenty of pvp options, that isn’t pay to win in the slightest.
It gives you plenty of options to grind your way through the game very enjoyably with little disadvantage against paid players, that is really fun to spend a few hours on.
Could do with a couple more battle maps and possibly supporting soldier types, but I love it and intend to play it for months/years to come
Way to Grindy

Hi Commander! Langrisser was designed to grant non-paying players a challenging tactical RPG experience. With a plethora of classes, soldiers, equipment effects, terrain bonus and lineup strategies, even if you choose to play for free, you can surprise your fellow players and even yourself with the strategic possibilities in your arsenal!
Horrendous customer support
Update: Zlongame actually replied to this review and told me to email their support *again* as they would “like to help me out”. I did so, then waited for a response. Eventually they did respond saying exactly what they said before - that they “have no way” to help me, when I know for a fact this is a lie, because I personally know people that they helped out of this identical problem. So 12 days after losing access to my account and talking to their support multiple times, zlongame goes out of their way to make me think they will actually do something, and then they don’t. Wonderful.
