Great App
Response from developer
Hi Eden, Thanks for giving a try to Scripts, we're happy to hear it helps you to learn Japanese characters! Keep playing and let us know if there’s anything you would suggest us to improve on!
Great but a few problems
Incredible Use of My Time!
Very helpful
Great Job!
Great start
- support for Apple Pencil on iPad
- exercises at smaller (handwriting) scale
- ability to switch / mix-up font styles - to this beginner computer fonts and textbook fonts for hiragana such as ki, sa, fu, so and yu can look quite different, it would be good to understand the ‘unbreakable’ rules common to any variants
- tutoring tips - going beyond mere pattern tracing, contextual tips explaining the visual rules would be helpful, i.e.stroke 4 should always be longer than stroke 2
- post-exercise analysis - where freeform strokes are shown (rather than within the guide lines), I would appreciate a side by side comparison of my strokes and the ideal lines with discrepancies highlighted
Still the best handwriting app I’ve seen by a long shot. Keep the updates coming!

Love Love It!
Awesome Except for Time Constraint

**You may as well use alternative apps, and SAVE YOURSELF THE CLUOD/STORAGE SPACE**
:(
*I’m learning Japanese, on an extremely busy schedule. Which means that I want to do as much studying as possible, whenever my agenda allows. It’s truly too bad that this app only allows me to utilize the tools for FIVE MINUTES ONLY. As soon as you gain the momentum to study, it then cuts you off.
*Perhaps the developer believes that people today are too dumb or attention deficient to handle more than 5 minutes a day. Here’s a hint for the developer: your demographic is likely composed of the individuals that are strong willed enough to independently take up a new language in their spare time, rather than game out or mind numb themselves. Give these people some more credit than a degrading assumption that they can only handle 5 minutes of learning, for every 10 hours.
Thanks!
Not sure how correct this is…
For example, the app says 又 means also, but technically it means repetitive. 也 would be the correct word for also. This has happened with several other words I’ve seen. Otherwise, it’s a great system and the stroke order seems to be correct.
