Camera is Good, Wifi Connections keeps dropping
The wifi connection drops every time you leave the app or your phone locks. With a large memory card it’s almost like possible to retrieve files from the camera. The wifi connection needs to stay connected with the app n the background or with the phone locked
So frustrating
With so much technology, why is it that you can only connect one phone. The dash cam is expensive and should have a capability of connecting to multiple devices. Why do I have to unpair my iPhone? And then pair my wife’s iPhone. I don’t have the luxury of having multiple vehicles. We are sharing the same vehicle however we cannot use separate phones for the app. Is there a fix to my problem and perhaps my rating was bad however, if this is so When or how can I go about using my wife’s phone or my phone with the dash cam. I have the 322GW. Nexar or other competitors DO NOT give you this issue.

Start from scratch
Honestly the worst piece of software I’ve ever used unlike the camera (522GW) which is great (except the overheating battery affecting the screen).
How hard it it to just make a basic app that downloads videos temporarily in the background and then lets you filter them? Download time takes a long time but that’s understandable, what isn’t understandable is I have to stay connected to the dashcam with my phone unlocked. Heaven forbid my phone automatically goes to sleep because you’ll have to start over and reconnect to the dashcam. Does the app temporarily download videos so download progress gets saved? No.
Very easily could be a plug in product to a phone also, but is it? No.
UI/UX department severely let down every customer who buys these dashcams. Just plug the SD card into a computer and ignore this app if you value your sanity.
1. Allow download with phone screen off
2. Add a ‘download all protected video’ button
3. Distinguish between times I press the record button and times I hit a pothole and it automatically saves. A red lock icon helps about 0% when rounded up.
4. Stop disconnecting from the WiFi every time the app is closed or phone turns off
5. Add a download bar for the love of god. If I’m downloading 20 videos, how long is left? Why is it stuck at 50%? God knows.
6. Fire the UI/UX department

Awful amateurish software
Easily the worst connection type of software I’ve ever seen. The number of attempts to get the software to connect to the dashcam are ridiculous and then the advice is always to delete everything and start again. Terrible software.
Will not connect to wifi
Trying to pair with my new car. Will not connect to wifi so cannot update firmware, connect and use.
Great camera, sometimes can’t access files though
I’m still new to this dash cam, and the videos have been great. However, often I get messages saying ‘files are unavailable while dash camera is is settings or playback mode’ - but the dash cam isn’t in either of those menus. Makes it frustrating to get files off that I need without wasting half an hour!

Painful
tl;dr Don’t buy a dashcam from Nextbase. None of their accompanying apps, required for effective use, is remotely functional.
This is a painful piece of software, connectivity with the 522GW is patchy and accessing files is virtually impossible. All OS, firmware and software are the most recent versions. The app loads. It eventually connects. But I have to wait so long for the files I want to access to become available ('Playback Failed. This file can not be played back at this time. Please download it to your phone and try again’) that the dash cam times out, shuts down and then you have to start the whole process again. The WiFi timing out is a regular occurrence and unrelated to app inactivity. The responsiveness of the user interface on the app is appalling. It is so slow/unresponsive as to be borderline useless.
Also, the 522GW has a habit of not recording, though the camera appears to be on, and also of shutting down randomly, maybe due to overheating. Avoid Nextbase and look elsewhere. I wish I’d read these reviews first - I’d have chosen a different brand.

Can’t figure out in this App why “live view” always goes black & shows nothing at all! Please help!
UI improvement
It is 2024 now but the UI looks like in 2004 please improve it ASAP.
App and Dashcam Interoperability is Questionable at Best
I purchased a 522GW Dashcam. Originally I was as happy with my purchase and everything worked well until then app pushes firmware updates. One day the dashcam stopped working and won't accept firmware fixes. If I plug in an SD card (brand new) the dashcam shoots and error and requires to be restarted. I have not been able to update the camera nor be able to get the camera to stop throwing errors. Very disappointed in this interoperability.
