  • Love the workouts, many look overs and glitches

I love my reflect, the workouts are awesome and really make me sweat....when the correct workout is listed. I clicked on cardio 15 with Michael Browne and got a stretching routine instead. Same thing with a yoga class I tried to do, was listed as a 10 minute yoga session but when it started it was 30 minutes. The app glitches, I cannot click on the live workouts to add them to my calendar. The reflect itself it glitchy too when turning on and off. Sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is not. Hopefully these things can be fixed so I can enjoy it more. Lastly, the music is very over powering in yoga. It is very hard to hear the instructor let alone relax with how loud the background music is.

  • Reflect 50 ZERO support

Got this app after I setup the mirror. I followed the directions to connect it.
It does not see my reflect. I verified that both my phone and the reflect are on the same WiFi and even logged out and back in with both. Still does not see my reflect.
Just the usual with echelon products.

    Edit in response to developer.

I understand you don’t “need” it to use a reflect, but the app actually says reflect and mirrors a reflect Home Screen. It shows all of the reflect controls including volume, brightness, and Bluetooth headphones.
It also searches for my reflect on a network that it can’t find. Any reasonable person will think they can get the Reflect app to use with their reflect mirror to control it directly from their phone.

ChinDong the 50 inch Reflect does not require the app and does not connect with it.
  • What is the point of this app?!

I have an Echelon Reflect with the latest updates, when using this app, the pairing process searches for a device on my network, then switches to a camera view, with the text “No QR Code detected”. (Note: I have tried with both an 802.11b and 802.11ac WiFi network)

There is NO QR code displayed on my device. I purchased the Reflect in March and have never been able to pair it. I’ve called support and they had no idea what I was referring to.

    This is SHAMEFUL

Hi Bruner if you have the 50” reflect there is not QR code or app needed, it is touch screen. If you have the 40” please email me at santo@echelonfit.com

  • Buggy with Potential

As the case with new/emerging technology, there are some early missteps.

The most persistent issue I’ve experienced is trying to pair Bluetooth headphones or earbuds; especially on an iOS device.

I’ve tried a variety of brands (Apple, Bose, Beats) and the results are stubbornly the same: no connection.

I’ve worked with tech support and gone through all of their documentation too.

I would like to know if this issue is a bug or a larger defect and what, if any fixes or larger updates are coming.

This issue doesn’t deter my overall use and enjoyment of the Reflect; it would be nice to be solved so I don’t wake the whole house during my 6 AM workouts.

  • Echelon’s customer service is on par with the cable company

Stay away! I wanted to like this product but after not being able to connect for 2 months and getting no response from the company. I give up. Save your money.

  • It’s okay, but it could be amazing with some minor tweaks

We got the Echelon Reflect 50” a few weeks ago and it’s been great from the perspective of motivating us to workout and the variety of workouts available.

The only real limitation is the UX of the app. A few very minor enhancements would create an infinitely better user experience. I’m hopeful that Echelon will continue to improve the interface of the app, since this is largely why we invested such a huge amount of money in the device.

    Here’s our wish list:

    1) Ability to sort workouts in more ways. “Strength” and “cardio” categories contain so many workouts that you’ll be scrolling forever trying to find what you want. And when you click one to look at it and then go back to the list, it takes you right back to the top so you have to start all over again. Argh!!! You can sort by length and by trainer, but not by HIIT, upper body, lower body, etc. Which is frustrating when you know specifically what you want to target that day.

    2) Ability to “favourite” workouts AFTER you’ve worked out. Once you complete the workout, you can click to rate it (thumbs up or thumbs down) but you can’t save it or favourite it if you want to do it again. Nor is there any indicator when you re-enter the workout that you’ve previously done it, when you last did it, or what your high score was. It would actually be awesome if there was a tiny “Last completed on X” that appears on a workout in the scroll list so you can identify these as you scroll. You can see which workouts you’ve previously done in the Progress tab - but guess what, you can’t click them, so you can only find out the name/trainer and then have to start the fun of scrolling again...

    3) Some trainers do a good job of explaining moves before they go into high gear and giving modifications for beginners. But this doesn’t always happen, and I injured my back a few times trying to do moves that just shouldn’t be tackled unless you already have advanced core and upper body strength (and I’d consider myself intermediate). It would be great to have beginner, intermediate and advanced tracks in the echelon so that you’re better able to choose suitable workouts, or have a better workout preview so you know whether it will be doable for you or not. This actually leads me to another frustration.

    4) So many of the workouts are called almost the same thing. It’s impossible to keep track of them. Which is why I’m often 5 mins into a workout before I realize I already did it and didn’t like it very much. There is so little info to go on - just the title and the trainer. It would be great to have a workout preview - even just a list of exercises that will be covered - so that people can make informed decisions before they click start. This would also help people to choose workouts that will target muscles they want to target — there are so many workouts that are heavy on plank, and maybe you don’t want to do a heavy plank day? Or maybe you just completed another heavy plank workout? There’s no way to know until you’ve already spent 5-10 mins of your day doing the warmup and intro.

    5) This is a bigger one, but I’d love to have some pre-scheduled workout programs. Like “Start Echelon’s 4-week fitness kickstart” and it would have 4 weeks of balanced workouts already scheduled for you. I get really sick of scrolling and sometimes wish it was just ready to go. This is something that apps like Jillian Michaels really have an advantage over Echelon currently. We don’t need live training, celebrity workouts or nutrition, just some foundational UX improvements.

    6) Finally, the heart rate monitor. Does it ever work? I spend about 10 mins at the start of every workout trying to get it to work. Drives me nuts. I’d rather just use my Fitbit but the two don’t talk.

Again, we really like the concept, and we’re assuming enhancements like this will continue to roll out (and I’ll happily update my review if they do). If they do, we’ll happily continue on as Echelon customers. If they don’t, then we’ll likely end up returning or selling the device and looking at another option.

  • Terrible customer support

Customer support has so far been awful! I have sent email after email and after 3+ weeks, still no answer to my question! I have a heart monitor that connects to the mirror and it shows my heart rate during the workout, but the calories only display 0 calories burned. I’ve had several people ask me what I think about this product and while I like the idea, customer support is awful and the app is definitely lacking! There’s no way to know what the exercise entails, what equipment is required, what the level is as far as beginners, Intermediate or advanced. Just seems like a lot of basic common sense stuff is missing. I picked this over Mirror Co and I’m definitely having some regrets.
