  • The app does not work

App does not work or open. Waste of money. When it use to work it was good.
  • Doesn’t work

This app used to be slow but it now just doesn’t work. It comes up with an error saying to try again or contact support. Trying again doesn’t work and it doesn’t give details to contact support. It’s a rip off to have to pay for something that doesn’t work.
  • Bought the physical book..not paying for this

I bought the physical book. This app seems like it had all the same info just I could pull it up on the iPad. The book even has a page directing you to download the app. Yet I can’t view any of the info for anything in the 11th edition book that I own. I’m not paying 20 more to get the same info in the app. These vendors need to get their stuff together and give apps that don’t nickel and dime when they aren’t in the business of software micro transactions. They are a company that makes bullets and reloading stuff. It’s insulting that this is such a bother. They only have data for their bullets too, so the info is all in brand. Just give the info for free, like every other manufacturer. Not $0.99 per cartridge.

  • Hornady consistently on top

This is a thoroughly comprehensive reference for most all of your reloading needs. It sacrifices no info that I can find from the printed volume, it may in fact contain more content than the print. (on that I might be off) Very handy for quick reference when your print copy is at home, or perhaps when you don’t feel like walking over to the shelf and pulling the book out. Separate sections for 30’-06, versus M1 specific 30’-06. It also lists increasingly more obscure cartridges like the 7.5 Swiss. The only improvement I might suggest, is within the 7.5 Swiss, a 7.5 Swiss section and specifications for loading the Karibiener 31 (K31). It has very different seating depth and C.O.A.L. than the chamber requirements for all other Swiss rifles chambered in 7.5 Swiss. Having a separate page for K31 7.5, and standard 7.5, just as 30’-06 M1Garand, versus 30’-06 standard; that would set Hornady manuel even farther ahead of the competition.

  • The Bible for reloading

A great reference for Reloader, new and old. It’s regularly used in our shop to give advice to the reloading fraternity who just need that confidence to take the plunge into the world of reloading, or for those that just want that little bit of reassurance that they are doing it right. Would defo recommend to newbies and those that have been doing it for a while.

  • Used to work fine, until the update

This app was updated recently for “bug fixes”, and now doesn’t work at all. Just an error message that “something went wrong please try again”; it won’t even try to let me log in or out.

For a company spending as much on market presence as Hornady, the poor performance of this app is an absurd oversight. They need to hire someone who actually knows how to write a simple database app.

If I can’t use it, might as well cancel my subscription; this has gone too long to not be fixed yet.

  • Current edition retired

Every time I try to look at a calibre I’ve purchased it tells me “ the current edition is retired “and to check the new version, but it is the current version, won’t be buying anything Hornady again
  • Get a hardcopy

The app is handy…until Hornady decides to “upgrade” the data. At that point you can no longer see or use the “old” data that you already paid for. So if you didn’t take a screen shot of it (because you have this handy app), you’ll have to buy their “new” manual or buy access to the “new” data for each caliber you reload. This means you are screwed out of access to the old manual that you already paid for. And this is why you should always have a hardcopy of your reloading manuals. There is no reason for Hornady to block access to their old data inside their app, other than greed. I refuse to be held hostage after a purchase. If I bought it, it’s mine. Otherwise it’s called renting. I detest that business model. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of other excellent bullet manufacturers out there. So I’ll easily and happily find another ammunition source.

  • $$$$$$

When you buy the book you don’t get access to the online manual! What a rip off. I would expect to have access anywhere I am shopping and not have to bring my book or make notes and carry scraps of paper like I was living 1995. This is the technology age Hornady, get with it. I am gradually converting to Sierra bullets, it’s just easier to to find what you need when you need it. Also found that Hodgdon and vitavhouri have great apps that give you great reloading information right on your phone. Who need the 13th edition of Hornady’s reloading book. The problem is that with changing from their book also means am going to be buying other manufacturers’ bullets, dies and all the other consumables. Sorry Hornady you missed the reloading press (lol).
