  • AP9 issue

I been using Kessil lights for about 3 years, actually with a setup of 2 of them and Im really happy, BUT this app is so useless and annoying, Have no sense there is no upgrades and Firmware changes on the lights to avoid this constant need to add the lamps every time you us the app , can someone at Kessil can explain this?? We are in 2024
  • Great Lights - App Crashes

The app hasn’t been updated in 2 years? Gee, I wonder why it crashes? Maybe if I still had an iPhone 12 with iOS 12 it would work better. I go to try and schedule lunar or sunset events in my schedule and boom, the app crashes. $2100 on lights and now I guess I have to drop another $1000 for a 3rd party Apex to be able to make the lights do things that Kessil should have baked in and be the best at doing. Obviously from other reviews support is a waste of time and I found similar in my pre-purchase planning trying to obtain a DMX converter to use to control via K-link. Nope, only for commercial installs. I guess $2100 isn’t worth their care or worry. So I also bought an AI Blade and a G6 Radion on my sump. Maybe those will end up being better. Time will tell.
  • Worst App connectitivity

I have 2 AP9X’s with the k link cable which work absolutely flawless for the price. This app however, has great settings for control which is only useful if you can ever get them to connect or “stay connected”. I am tech savvy and have an entire smarthome setup. This app has gotten me so boiling to the point that i could toss these lights into the street and roll over them continuously with my truck. Do better Kessil
  • Useless

Constant crashes while trying a quick reload. Had to delete and reinstall app only to have it lose connection again and back to crashing while trying to reload. When this is the only way to control your lights, having an unstable app is unacceptable.
  • The app works great, the problem is your network.

This app works flawlessly. No issues with connectivity or function. If you’re having problems with it, it’s because you don’t understand how to setup your network properly. Which is a problem for most people, because most people aren’t generally tech savvy enough to handle even simple tech. No offence meant to anyone, but if you’re having problems it isn’t the app, it’s your network, your skill set, or both. The majority of reefer’s are either old dudes struggling with tech, or young dudes that are too adhd to learn and read instructions.

You’ll see most reef apps have bad reviews. Same thing with Mobius which also works just fine. It’s not the app makers fault that the general public can’t figure out how to work their tech.
  • Is this app still supported ?

Time zone seems to be off. I tried to log in - no luck. I came to the App Store to see if there was a newer version. No luck. Not sure if this app is being supported at all.
That said, I can still control my light but timing is off.
  • Does Kessil use this app themselves?

This app is by far the clunkiest and non-user-friendly app on my phone. Always breaks, always forgets my dongle, need to reset app far too much. How can these lights be so good but the controller is pure garbage. For lights in this price range this app should be better than AI’s light app. And it’s not. And their app has issues too.

As someone else said, it feels Beta. I’d say Alpha.

“Make sure light is orange” - doesn’t instruct how to make light orange. Figured it out on my own.

    No reliable subnet cross communication.

    Do better. Hire better developers.
  • Connectivity problems

I am currently using an iPhone 14 and was not able to use the app to connect with a wireless router. However when on an iPhone 8 the app does work.
  • This app is horrible

Had this app for nearly a year have to consistently re-program the connect the lights to the system very finicky the lights are good but the app is horrible highly recommend against it
  • Terrible App

Don’t buy these lights if you’re hoping for an easy wifi controller with this app. Absolutely terrible app. Disconnects constantly.

I’ve had this app for over a year in hopes that this would get better, but they haven’t touched it. The lights are great, but the ability to control them is unsatisfactory.
