  • Completely broken

First they release a broken update that takes all day to remedy. Then when they DO release a fix it now puts exporting behind a paywall, which also doesn't work. As well, you can't access your old keys if they weren't in icloud. They completely broke the app and forced most of their users to go through the painful process of redoing all their 2FA. Don't trust this app or anything made by this company.

  • Ruined

Mobime broke a perfectly good 2fa app. Don’t use it.

  • Downfall of a great app

Raivo was for a long time the best 2FA app for iPhone, with great features wrapped in a responsive and free app. Raivo was acquired by Mobime a few months ago. Just recently, they released their first update since acquiring the app - which crashes the app upon every launch. Their second update fixes the bug and recommends the user to sign up to a monthly or yearly subscription to use the same features that you could use for free in previous versions of the app. It seems my secrets have all been deleted with this update so if I want to continue using the app, I’d have to add them one by one until I hit the threshold for how many free secrets a user can have - at which point I would have to subscribe for unlimited secrets. If you haven’t updated yet, export your secrets so you don’t lose them. I will be switching to a user friendly 2FA app and importing my secrets.

  • BEWARE

Raivo was purchased and the first update to monetize deleted all of our existing OTP tokens. JFC what numbskull thought this would be the way to migrate our encryption certs and start making us pay?

The app auto updated to a developer build which crashed on launch and it seemed like all was lost. The build they pushed even had the incorrect app name and then updated.

I went on X and found a new build was released. Hope crept in..

Update, find it’s now subscription based and has nuked all of my OTP tokens and I’m locked out of my own servers and some services that didn’t provide backup

Destabilizing your user base of something so mission critical as OTP tokens is a terrible first step and I will be publishing this on media sites and Ycombinator/hacker news.

    Terrible product now.

We apologize for the unpleasant experience. A new update is currently under review to fix the import and export feature. Please stay tuned.
  • Back up your keys!

The update released today totally crashes the app. The app title is literally now “Raivo Debug”. When tapped, it opens for a brief second before crashing back to the iOS home screen.

Like other reviews have stated, this app is no longer maintained by the original developer. It has been purchased by a seemingly untrustworthy company. With this most recent update, it is obvious that the new developer does not care about the users at all. I feel bad for the users who failed to backup their keys before updating to this latest version. Gotta be on your game with this stuff though.

Message to the original developer who has abandoned this app, it is disappointing to see how you have handled this. I remember reading your comments on GitHub and Reddit back in the day, seeing the care that you gave your project. I know that maintaining this app brought you a lot of stress, but you seemed like a cool person. I guess the dollar signs got in your eyes or something, idk.

We apologize for the issues caused by the recent update. We understand your frustration and want to address your concerns directly: - The app’s title change to “Raivo Debug” and the crash upon opening were unintended errors during the update process. - We assure you that our intention is not to disregard our users. Your security and trust are our highest priorities. We are working diligently to fix the app and restore its functionality. - For those worried about their keys, please know that they have not been lost. They are secure and will be accessible once the issue is resolved. - Our development team is working on an update to revert the app’s name, fix the crash issue, and ensure no data loss occurs. We deeply regret any stress or inconvenience caused by this situation. If you need immediate assistance, please contact our support team at contact@mobime.org. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to correct these issues.
  • Move to 2FAS NOW!!

The app was good at first, and I continued using it…. until right now where I just found out it was acquired by a shady company. And what do you know, the app hasn’t received any updates since 7 months ago, and has an unprofessional developer that’s literally saying “🍻” in the reviews like it’s going to make me trust them even more?? Other than that the company literally has had no communication whatsoever.

So what am I doing, moving to 2FAS like many other people in the reviews. If you haven’t downloaded this app, DON’T. Do your research and look at the other critical reviews. If you have this app already, move immediately, to 2FAS or a reliable alternative.

Dear user, Rest assured that we do not engage in any shady practices, and we value each of our users. There was a problem with a debug version being released, which caused a sudden crash upon opening the app. An update has been pushed to fix this issue, and another update is pending to address more reported issues from our users. We are working diligently to resolve these issues. • great simple authenticator

this app and bitwarden are the two most important apps on my phone. Very simple authenticator with dark mode and you can export your OTP codes easily for backups or moving to another authenticator. 10/10
  • I’d love to try it, but…

The app does not appear to have a method for bulk-importing password seeds from another app, such as Google Authenticator. The only way that I can see to add OTPs is to add them one by one. This is especially odd given that the app allows for the bulk export of OTP seeds…

The bulk QR codes that Google Authenticator exports would make it really, really easy to switch to Raivo, which I'd like to do, but I’m not manually disabling and re-enabling 40+ 2FA settings on various websites.

Please add support for QR codes that have many OTP seeds at once (including from screenshots, as Google Authenticator likely exists on the same device). Looking forward to being able to try the app.

That's a great future request. I hope to add this whenever I can spend some time on the development again. Cheers, Tijme
  • Deleted & Moved On

I loved this app when I started using it and gave it 5 stars, mostly because it was open source. However, since the recent acquisition by this unknown company, there are so many questions and concerns, mostly regarding privacy. Until everything is addressed and communicated transparently, it is time to move on to another Authenticator App. I followed suit with most and migrated to the open source 2FAS Authenticator App.

Means a lot to me. Cheers 🍻
  • Does everything it tries to do extremely well

I’ve used OTPAuth for years now with no complaints, but I decided I needed something open source and without proprietary backup/export files.

Raivo is more feature-rich (I love the searchable icon library and ability to change the main app icon), it’s open-source, and the backup files it generates include QR codes and secret codes in easily accessible formats (.json and html), so I can easily restore my MFA credentials on a different app/OS/whatever.

Really happy with the experience overall. I will be donating to the developer because free, open-source, and well-designed apps like this are a rare gem.
