  • Get it

It won’t distinguish your audio feedback 100% correct without a mike but it’s always close, I choked hard over the radio when I started my private pilot but am getting better thanks to the app. To be able to practice so realistically is priceless. I’m not sure there is another simulator out there so realistic and easily attainable.

  • Disappointing

Honestly expected much more from this app, besides the shady micro transactions needed to make any real progress on the app, there’s much left to be desired. I got this app to practice repeating tower instructions only to find out I can’t even do that. Scenarios are very limited and the apps algorithm makes it so you always pass just as long as you say the information doesn’t matter the order whatsoever nor how long the radio call takes. You could say utter nonsense and as long as the key words are there you get a perfect score. I’m hesitant to even give this app three stars but it really does have potential although sadly I feel the creators don’t have plans on making it into the app it could be. Unless your just starting flying with no radio experience whatsoever this app will not help you.

  • Great App (Just some Suggestions)

I must say this is a great app and I have learned so much in the past 5 hours of using it. I now know so much vocabulary and how to use it in the real situation. I like how the ATC will also respond to you as well so it like real life. I do have some suggestions though. I feel like for the scenarios, they should be gone through fully until takeoff happens. This is just so your used to getting that whole sequence of events done. Obviously they are gone through in other scenarios but why make it two different scenarios and make you pay for the other one while one is free? I feel like there should be a bit more free things. The app is amazing though and I have learned so much. I hope to come back soon and edit this review so it can be more detailed then 5 hours :)

  • Fantastic

If your a beginner or would like to gain more confidence. This app is a must have.
It goes through the sections of your flight, individually. Then you’ll be able test your self, on a full flight starting from the hanger. Also there are airport diagrams to help with you full flight test.
    Amazing.
    Thank you PlaneEnglish.

  • Great help! Thank you!

A very helpful tool to learn comms. I only have VFR access and it has greatly helped me improve my comms, especially with the class C radio calls. I would recommend it to anyone looking to practice radio calls. Thanks for a well-thought out tool and a helpful addition to my flight training.
  • Useful but buggy

Useful to practice your terminology. Unfortunately it’s buggy (e.g. “%response_option% is probably not an ATC term). Also it needs better help. For example, I am constantly scored 86% on “rate”, but there is no information about what “rate” is... am I talking too fast? Too slowly? Lastly, the scenarios and situations are limited. It needs more and more varied practice on things like flight following, switching frequencies, etc., which is the stuff I keep getting messed up on in real life and would love to practice. I’ll keep using it, but needs some work.

Thank you KaelEV for taking time to write the review, and sorry that you had to run into a bug. The issue that you describe has been addressed and fixed now. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We are working on adding some more information about the scoring criteria and hope to have it out soon. We'd love to hear more about the additions that you mention; send us a note at team@planeenglishsim.com.
  • Actually quite good

This is quite a nice tool to learn how to speak to ATC. I’m not a pilot but I hopefully will train in a few years. It’s worth a download. Only negative point is that the listening feature doesn’t always pick up some particular words but it’s easy to see if it’s a mistake from the user or the device because it lets you know what you said.

  • Perfect app that I’ve been looking for

Literally perfect atc application! As a foreigner who is learning flight in the US, I have struggled with this atc so much. I’ve been looking for the atc practice like this. Thank you so much. It is way more than worth it.
  • It’s ok but..

Every time I’m doing a course and I say something according to what’s on its screen, it doesn’t hear me say it or it reads it incorrectly. Please fix this
  • GOOD but not GREAT

Look this app is a great tool I wish I had while learning private/instrument coms. The problem is, some things you do not read back to atc in flight are required to read back here which could give the impression to new pilots that you have to read back every piece of detail to atc.

An example of this is “hold short 28L landing traffic” you generally don’t say “landing traffic” back to ATC. Another example is when contacting departure, generally you don’t say “contact PHX departure” you would say “ over to departure, good day”

Overall this app is great for new pilots which is why I rated it 4/5 stars, but you should not just rely on the app for your atc communications. Once you become more familiar with talking on the radio with atc, you will begin to use your own phraseology to shorten what you have to say without compromising the message. But in general good app!
