Almost there...

It’s a great and simple app and makes it easy to see that snapshot view and make you think before making that next purchase. Two things I found would be helpful. Adding multiple cards from the same bank would be nice instead of having to login and add it one by one, not sure if it’s because of Plaid. The other one it would be nice to see the Burndown graph by transaction type like dining, entertainment, etc.

Thanks for the feedback! I know you’ve already linked your cards, but your first idea will actually be in the next update 🙂 Edit: Updated! Now you only have to sign in once to link multiple cards from the same bank. Thanks again for the suggestion! Hope we’ve earned that last star 😉

Simple and cute

cute and simple, just sad to see all the cool features in the premium version (too expensive...) I want to pay for use this mini-app but i think it’s too expensive, there is a kind of discount somewhere ?

Hi Romain34300, The app uses Plaid (https://plaid.com/), a service owned by Visa, to link cards. This is the same service used by many popular apps including Venmo, Betterment, and Acorns. Using Plaid, it’s impossible for the app to access your credentials, and all communication with it and the bank is end-to-end encrypted. Put simply, your data has not been leaked because the app doesn’t have access to it. Any issues with your bank are coincidental. Hopefully that helps put you at ease! If you have further questions please reach out to contact@budgetburndown.app and we’d be glad to answer any questions. We’d also love to hear your ideas for the app if you would like to share them!

Does not work correctly

Couple of problems. First of all it doesn't update without unlinking then linking the card back. Tried this for Amex and it's useless. When you link the card it updates but to get it to update again I had to unlink then link it again and sign back in. That's useless. It also doesn't let you arrange the date to coordinate your Amex billing cycle so it's counting days from the last cycle into the new one. Also useless.

So simple, it’s ACTUALLY useful

After trying just about every other overbuilt and needlessly complex finance app out there (aimed squarely at you Nerdwallet, Mint, Personal Cap), I tried Burndown from a friend’s recommendation and FINALLY a finance app that actually does what I need it to: simply monitor and categorize spending on ‘that one credit card you use’ for everything.

EASY TO TELL IF YOU CAN: It’s unique graph based interface is so visually intuitive and allows you to easily tell if buying that round of 8 margaritas is a good idea, even if you’re seeing double from the last round. Over your line? Get the boss to buy it. Under the line?Still get the boss to buy it, but smile feeling good you’re saving money.

MITIGATE ‘VENMO INFLATION’: Paying for a 6 person dinner where friends suddenly get T-Rex arms, can’t reach their wallets and will ‘Venmo you later’? A misrepresented accounting error of death to your card that will blow other app’s monthly budget reporting hopelessly into oblivion with no chance of recovery or correction. With Burndown, just tap charge > edit charge > back on track!

If you’ve been frustrated with the other all-in-one solutions out there and want an app that will actually make a positive difference in your spending habits, try Burndown. So simple it’s actually useful!

We've all been there 😂 Thank you for the review!

Nice

I’m using this app to help to see if we can can retire on the budget that we would have, this app is a good tool to see if we would go over budget on everyday spending.

Response from developer

Glad you're finding it helpful! 🙌

Simple way to keep on track

Love the interface. Wish I could download the data into a report...tag the entries.

Poor

Happy with the concept, but:
Cannot set the start point for the month, and we get paid in the 28th so run 28th to 28th. Also cannot change the budget depending on weeks on that month, some have 4 others have 5, it would make sense to support this as well. Alongside that, it doesn’t support changing budgets brilliantly, let us put an amount for each month in.
And finally a feature request, let us setup burn-downs for different aspects of our budget, for example one for fuel spend, one for general and one for food?

Hi magik1991, thanks for the feedback and feature ideas. If you would instead like to reach out to contact@budgetburndown.app, I’d love to discuss them further with you!

Seems good

Ya

Expensive

$5 a month just to track your bank accounts and plot it on a graph with a single line is pretty wild but hey get ya money

US only 🤦‍♂️😫

US only yet available to download in the UK. Poor. Hope UK supported soon. Manually adding transactions isn’t something I’m going to do!

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for reaching out. As you mentioned, people in the UK can add or import transactions, and we're working as fast as possible to support linking cards. Please reach out to contact@budgetburndown.app and we can let you know as soon as that happens. Thank you for your patience!
