Pretty good
A little clunky to use but overall haven’t had any issues with it. Can control heating setting easily and works when away from the house. Disconnected once but overall I’ve had a pretty good experience.
Not impressed
It looks pretty but that’s about it. Try and scroll up or down the screen and the heating settings change. I’m forever cancelling the override. I thought geolocation would be a good idea but cannot invite a user, the app just locks up and needs to be forced closed. Temperature overshoots a lot. I thought the idea was it would learn and lower the boiler temperature to keep the room comfortable. Seemed to be doing this the first day. Not it’s just on full or off. Tried to find a way to report the problem or get help. You can only access FAQs and not proved feedback or get support.

Connection
Tried multiple ways to connect to my phone via app get to final stage and will not allow the WiFi password to be entered into app.
Called ideal but on hold for 3 hours. Once got through told me I would get a call back and 2 weeks later still waiting. So now can’t use what I paid for and why I chose this system

Great idea if it worked properly
I love this app - it means i have total control over my heating whenever and wherever.
The only problem I have is the app drops. A lot. Today i have had to reinstall it on my iPad a total of four times. It’s almost as bad on my iPhone and i then have to spend time deleting the app and reinstalling it. If it wasn’t so useful i would give up and dump it. I’m just a bit irritated at the time i have to spend working with it.

Schedule doesn’t work
As others have noted, it’s impossible to copy a schedule to Sunday so this has to be set up separately. Except that doesn’t work either. I keep trying, but it makes no sense as I always end up with an odd number of events ie 2 ons and an off. As each event has a start and an end and can’t be saved without that it should surely always add events in pairs??? I also sent details of a whole load of other bugs directly to Ideal in January 2024 but there’s been no updates to fix those issues since. It’s been like this for almost a year now - come on Ideal, get this sorted 🙄

Glitchy & constantly times out!
Has become a nightmare to amend timers. Can’t update timers set to winter settings, constantly times out without changing the timer so we have had to manually put it on holiday mode as the app won’t let us make changes to the timers we had set over cold months. Really bad app getting very fed up with not being able to adjust the timers!

Good app but…
On the whole this app is very good. Being able to control the heating at home from anywhere is brilliant. There have been many times in past when we’ve all left the house for the day and unnecessarily left the heating on. Not anymore. It does occasionally kick me out of the app and I have to sign in again. I can’t work out if this is completely random or after a long period of not opening up the app.
I would like the time to be featured on the home page of the app. I know I have the time on my phone, but I want to know that the app/stat/boiler has the correct time too. It’s currently Easter Sunday morning and I have no idea if the stat time has gone forward an hour. I assume it has, but that’s all it is, an assumption. Without physically being at the stat to check, I have no idea. The whole idea of the app is so that you don’t have to physically be at the stat.
Please add the time to the next update.

Frequently disconnected
Unfortunately the app frequently gets stuck on retrying connection when you open it up and you have to kill the app and reopen it to connect to the system again. I’ve also had incidents where the app will request the password again, why is this not stored in the keychain so I don’t have to remember it every time I’m prompted. Please resolve these issues, it’s really quite poor quality control.

Very poor instructions to install
Took a while but instructions to install are very poor.
Once you go into pairing with the boiler on your phone it should explain that you have to go into your WiFi settings on your phone before it will join the network for boiler.
Pair with the boiler in settings and then it’s fairly straightforward.

Abysmal
What an absolute pile of garbage this app and thermostat is. How can we be deep into a digital age of wireless communication with technology at our fingertips, yet these tech bods can’t even create a simple heating app that just does one thing - Control your heating! The ideal thermostat is pointless, it’s so glitchy. Ours goes from 16 degrees to 29 degrees with one click of the dial. It only has to do one thing and it can’t do it! The whole system doesn’t work. Awful.
