Unfortunate Unfairness

The game itself is pretty great. One of my favorite games until recently, and I'm about to delete it, again. Once you get so far in the game, the computer wins way too easily and quickly. It's not about skill or even luck. The computer wins on their first turn, or it lets you get ahead a few levels and then the computer wins immediately every round and you have to start over, over and over again. If you win power ups or buy them, go ahead and expect to lose. I've started hands with double skips and 2-3 wilds, and still lose right away without a chance to even play. If the creators are trying to make money by getting people to buy things, it's not going to work. It gets to a point beyond frustration and the hands go up in the air.
Why spend money to get things when the computer wins right away? It's not even fun anymore. This game used to be my go to to unwind and relax, but now it's just past frustrating. I wouldn't mind getting beat by the computer even more than half the time, but you don't stand a chance anymore. It's not that each level gets harder. That would be fine if the sets you're trying to acquire are harder to get. But you can't even try because the computer wins right away. It's setup to slaughter you especially if you have wilds and skips.

We want the game to be a fun experience for everyone. While challenges help keep the game fresh, they shouldn't be an obstacle to the fun. We will be sure to forward your feedback to the developers. Thank you for sharing this, and please let us know if you have any other concerns.

Disappointed! Essentially have to pay for energy to pass levels die to AI Bias.

I grew up playing this card game, and IRL love it, however I am immensely disappointed with the mobile version. Firstly, there is a lot of AI Bias. Meaning, AI opponents seem to receive all the wilds in their hands and win constantly, and a lot of the time this occurs in the first round of play. It seems as if the developers are concerned primarily about making money, as essentially this means, to pass levels, you have to pay to win. I implore anyone that reads this review, not to pay Mattel their hard earned. I did to restore energy constantly, and even after this, I still kept losing or only achieving one star. It’s pathetic, especially given the UI, game play itself (outside of the AI Bias and difficulty winning) is great. Would love a refund to be honest, as I don't mind paying for games where I get something back, but this isn't one of those games. Not worth the expense.

Hi there! Sorry to hear the disappointing experience! All purchases in the game are solely at the player's discretion, and are not mandatory - Phase 10 is completely free to play, and you won't miss anything! As an avid fan and developer of card games, we fully understand that fair dealing is crucial for every player. For this reason every deal is random and fair but at times unpredictable too. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact our customer service team via the settings, where you can receive quicker responses and resolutions.

Frustrating game!!

If you enjoy losing, this game is for you!! You will lose at a rate of about 75 to 80% of the times, and the vast majority (emphasis on Vast Majority) of times you will lose before you even play your hand!! Also, the game is loaded with ads, and even though, you are limited to 10 plays (5 credits per game for a max of 50 credits), and it takes 5 minutes to earn each new credit - in other words, when you run out of credits, it takes 25 minutes before you earn enough to play another round! Again, this is even though the game is loaded with ads - No good!! And BTW, when you lose a game to the computer adversary, you lose the 5 credits for the game, whether you’ve had the chave to play your had or not - again, No good!! As for the game playing… the computer opponents are always racked with multiple “wild” and “skip” cards, but you can consider yourself lucky if you get a random “wild” one every third or fourth hand… I have lost count when the computer wins a round, displaying 3 Wilds, even before any plays draws a single card! This game is also programmed to not “think” beyond the current hand… for example, if you’re in last place and you just completed the phase for Round 1, you are guaranteed to get bombarded with “skip” cards even though two other players are about to finish and win the game!! In my opinion, this game should be repaired so it doesn’t screw the human player so much and make it more fun and realistic!!

Fun game but flawed

As others have stated, waiting for energy just to complete rounds is far too long, unless you’re willing to pay, but the main issue is the AI opponents. 3 rounds in a row I didn’t even get a turn, and when I do get a turn, I just get garbage cards that don’t even finish the phase. I know it’s probably just a bad run of cards, but at times it kinda feels forced, maybe to encourage buying more diamonds to get wild cards? I don’t know. I recommend playing the game because it’s fun, just be aware that it gets difficult very quickly, not because of skill, but because of AI “luck” and unlucky cards for the player. Definitely needs to be addressed Edit: downgraded to 2 stars because I’ve noticed the Ai players NEVER play their skip a turn cards in other AI players, and the game has no problem bombarding me with ads, but when I try to play an ad to get an extra card, I get “ad got lost in transit”. Whether it’s intentional or not, the game is stacked against the user Final edit: downgraded it to one star. The response my previous review got suggests that the cards are random. I flat out refuse to believe that because I keep drawing the same card I discard. The computer however seems to draw the exact card to either get closer to winning or to win outright. Definitely isn’t random, definitely is rigged to make people spend money. I’m done with this game, and I highly recommend people stay away from it too

Hello! Phase10 can be accessed completely for free and we apologize if your experience has not been the best or reflective of this. Due to random shuffling of cards, results can be unpredictable. Although we can't guarantee consistent wins, we do guarantee that players will have endless access to free energy in various ways like free event rewards, star chests, ads, and energy recharged every 5 minutes! Thanks!

Very rigged the further you get

At the very begging of me downloading this game, I absolutely loved it. There were times I’d win and times that I would lose, but it overall was a fun and it kept me going. However I noticed the further along that you get, the more rigged it seemed to be. I thought at first that maybe I was being a sore loser, but then I came here and read the reviews and almost every one I read said the same thing about it being rigged. It was also very frustrating reading the developers response to these reviews. While I understand that making it a bit more difficult the farther you go along, it should not become impossible to clear a regular level unless you have either insane luck, or the money to buy gems to get the wild cards. Reading that the developers think that this is “fair” and that the cards are “shuffled in way to make it luck based” makes me laugh. You see so many negative reviews all over the same exact thing, yet you don’t find a problem in it or have any courtesy to maybe go back and adjust some things. Based on how the response is basically the same to every review, it feels like there is no care to keep people playing. That is why until I see (if it ever happened, which I doubt it will) progress made to try and fix the problems, I will be deleting this game. If you’re thinking about downloading this, don’t. It’s simply not worth it after a certain point.

We understand the frustrations from losing often. We can relate and we're sorry to hear this happened. It is never by design or intention and we value such feedback as it helps us understand player frustrations better. Due to the card shuffling, results can be unpredictable however we also hope to better improve on your frustrations in the future.

Why rig the bots to win?

A few weeks ago I decided to download this game, later on realizing that the bots are almost 100% rigged to win each or almost every match. I can’t even play with friends without having to pay with coins as well. Seems like there are cash grabs around every corner in order to pass just one level. I was sucked in to purchasing wildcards with my own money etc. I would rather pay for the real game than pay money to buy power ups and bundles that cost more than the real life cards. Please fix the bug to bots almost always winning, thank you.

Thank you for sharing this review, and we're sorry to hear that you had a frustrating experience. Some levels are definitely meant to be a challenge, but they should never feel unfair or like they require purchases to complete. Your concerns will be shared with the development team for consideration.

Hmmm yeah nah

2 stars for the game phase 10 itself. As for all the other extra rubbish involved 🤦🏼‍♂️ adds, other games, adds, "new game modes" that dont let you exit them so that you can literally JUST play Phase 10 🤷🏽‍♂️ . Its super annoying having to go into flight mode just to simply enjoy phase 10, but ill give you a third star just for the fact that flight mode is the best thing thats going on for your app atm. 👍🏼.

We're sorry to hear you weren't vibing with the most recent event. The tutorials are designed to be as uninterruptive and brief as possible as we understand many would prefer to jump straight into the action. Rest assured the tutorials only prompt once and you are not required to participate in the event afterwards if you choose not to. Thank you!

Well produced but infuriating!

I was so excited to find this game (love the card game) and initially found it very well made and fun to play.. Until I ran out of energy! Then I have to wait another 25 minutes to get enough energy to play another round… then the AI skips me 3 times then wins before I get a single move! What the heck… AI is so rigged. Ive been persisting for days, going to play another game while my energy recharges, but why wouldn't you want to keep people in the game? Why make them leave? There's no sense in that. There are so many ads, can't enough money be made off them? I am NOT purchasing energy and there are not enough ways to get it freely or quickly enough. Looking at all the feedback from other users over years, why aren't you listening to them and fixing it? This could be an epic game. But I (and obviously many others) can't stand it any more.

Rigged? & events

I want to give zero stars. The game in theory is ok. Want to play, but can’t unless I go through the tutorial for the new event. Cant skip it at all. So that’s no fun. If I want to do the event, I’ll click on it, then I can do the tutorial if I choose. Don’t force it and not allow me to play the regular part of the game. I played the old version a few years back. I was able to choose the player level of myself and the computer opponents. This version does not allow that. I feel it’s somewhat rigged because of how the computer plays. When I’m dealt a decent hand for a round, I don’t ever get a chance to play at all. The computer players close out and win within 1-2 hands. When I’m dealt a crappy hand, it seems to take forever. I still tend to lose more often than not, so they take me for a lot of points. I’ve also been keeping track of the times I win the hand or at least get the cards needed. It’s averages about 1/10, 10% of the time. The hard (skull) levels are much worse. I’ve been on the same one for 2 weeks. Playing every day, 2-3 hours a day. Very discouraging to say the least. And don’t get me started on the “skip” cards! That’s definitely rigged Against us human players, and I’m keeping track of that also. - Oh yeah, the stages do not matter. It’s any and all. I recently opened another scene. I keep passing round 1 of 2, in a stage. In round 2, I haven’t even taken a turn and lose to both computer players in the first hand played every time. Go figure.
