  • Amazing app!

I have a 16' aluminum boat with a 40hp outboard and love to explore islands in Casco Bay in Maine. I looked at GPS systems and couldn't rationalize the cost- not wanting to buy a system that cost half of my boat's value.
1 downloaded Argo and it has helped me to plan trips and navigate the waters. I find it feature-rich and easy to use. I often plan trips in my house and it's nice to chart routes and save them to favorites and then bring my phone on my boat. Would recommend to anyone in my situation or for someone looking for a backup to their gps navigation system.
I don't have a lot of friends using Argo yet-although I've recommended it, so I can't speak much of the social tools included, but I can see those being a big plus.
I also highly recommend purchasing a mounting system for your phone to affix to your boat's dash- I did and it's great to be able to reference the maps hand's free while underway. Amazing app! 100% reverend
  • Missing Important Buoy Information

    Regarding Your Reply:
I just looked up the area of Little & Big Pleasant Bay, Chatham Harbor & Chatham off of Cape Cod. Your app has just a few markers & buoys, while Navionics has 50+ buoys and markers. It is a substantial difference in boat navigation is this area. It does not mean that your app is not effective, it’s just not effective is this particular area that we sail in.

We sail in a very shallow and tidal areas (high & low tides are significant). The navigational maps (NOAA & Standard) do not have any navigational buoys on the maps. Without any buoys, the app is extremely hard to use as it would be dangerous sailing for us (sailing in the Northeast USA on Cape Cod). The Navionics Boating App that we currently use has all that complete information. We were hoping to use your App as we like some of your unique features. But sailing safely is the number 1 feature.

    Developer Response

Appreciate the detailed feedback. Argo’s NOAA ENC and Standard views should have all the NOAA buoys and beacons, but as you pointed out some areas may have additional markers. If we can find who manages those markers we'd be happy to add them. We want Argo to be safe for all boaters and ensuring we have all the markers is very important. Please contact support@argonav.io.
  • Sorry

I trying to learn how to navigate. I downloaded this app hoping to use it to learn to enter the necessary information to navigate from one point to another avoiding round in a boat in the ocean hi conditions. This app led nothing butFrustration. First it wanted to use my home address which is completely landlocked. Once I got the boat information in the app and a starting point andDestination it showed my route which took me across land. If I wanted to sell from the gulf coast to the Atlantic coast it would just simply draw a line straight across connected the two. So I’ll try to sail a boat from the gulf to New York this app had me going through Mississippi Georgia South Carolina North Carolina Virginia most of Jersey then to New York very little of my route was on water. I’m just glad you told me that I wasn’t going to run a ground. This is sorry app I don’t know who in the world used to navigate a boat with

    Developer Response

We’d be happy to assist. Sounds as if your settings were not correct or you were using manual routing.
