  • Older but learning

I’m over 50 but wanted to learn to play the piano. I tried different apps but they were either to costly or didn’t fit my beginners learning style from learning the 🎹 themselves or both.
In my opinion, this app is very simple to use including my ability to go to next level or keep on practicing at the same level is perfect.
    Thanks! 🤓🎧 🎹 🎼🎶

  • The updates are bad

I think this game WAS a good learning app. I learned a ton with it and it has gotten me in to some band classes in school. But these recent updates SUCKED HORRIBLY. The most recent update at this time was extremely annoying because after I had failed at a pretty hard song with both hands to see how far I got, it only let me play the parts that I just did and not letting me countinue forward. This update had caused one of my best runs on a level 11 song to be put to a halt early without even failing!

  • It’s ok I guess

I remember installing this app on my iPad to use since Simply Piano cost money. I got the app to use because I have an electric piano. I am a pianist and I tried out this app to do a review on how good it is. There are a bit of issues for me. 1. Sometimes when I hit the key, it won’t count it and I’ll have to start over. 2. There is this weird little moving ball that has been irritating me! It gets distracting while I try to use the note C or any other note! I don’t know the purpose of it either. To me, it’s just there. It also will throw me off not knowing when to start or stop. Lastly, 3. The time limit!!! It bothers me when you only get TEN MINUTES per day to practice. When i was 8 I would practice 1 hour a day.. and also, u HAVE to pay money for more time. I’m a bit dissatisfied but I do recommend it for beginners. Overall, this isn’t the worst app ever but it could have some better fixes.

  • Overall really great

Overall, I think this app is awesome and really good at teaching how to play piano and read sheet music. My only complaint or “warning” would be that at a certain point the songs are really difficult and will take several days of practice before you can pass them. I think this is a typical learning curve of piano, but it’s something that I could see being frustrated if someone is not prepared for it.

  • Needs a way to skip levels for advanced players

I want to start by saying that I used yousician to learn the Ukulele and really appreciated it! I was new to the Ukulele and am a much more confident player now. However, I have been playing piano for several years and just wanted an app that would help me expand my skills. This is not the one. Does the free version no longer exist? I couldn’t do anything but play the first song. Also, I couldn’t find a way to skip levels, so I was stuck playing Twinkle Twinkle on one hand, when I can play level 3-4 performance pieces. I’ll keep yousician for ukulele but won’t be using it for piano.

  • Great app

I am an adult re-learner of the piano. I have moved from basics to level 6 in about a year. There are some songs that I hate (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - way too slow) songs that have grown on me (Call for the Spring but I'm still not fond of the vocal) The Duck Walk is challenging and fun.
I made myself an Excel chart to track my "workout" progress. My goal is to develop reading fluency so this is helpful for charting my progress.

  • The ball is the bane of my existence.

I was going to subscribe. I wanted to subscribe, but that ball! That stupid little moving ball!!! I cannot stress this enough. I HATE that stupid moving ball. HATE IT! I have played piano for years. I play by ear and can really play anything, Beethoven, Chopin, literally any melody, you name it, but I can’t read notes so I got this app in hopes to learn. Two hours told me it was never going to work. Considering that I play by ear, I am obviously a sound learner and not a sight learner, so it is altogether too much for me to concentrate on moving sheet music, colors, notes, the piano your playing, the piano on the screen, and that stupid, confusing, little, moving ball. It doesn’t even do what it’s supposed to do because I can’t even tell when it’s time to play the note from it. Every time I’ve got the rhythm down (by ear, not by the ball), that ball throws me all the way off! If there were any option to get rid of that ball, or any of the other elements, I would have subscribed in a heartbeat, but I will not subject myself to the torture of concentrating on that many moving things. Please create an option to edit what you see on the screen. Please!

  • Great if you already have some musical knowledge

I am an adult and a true beginner in piano and all music. I think this app is good; however it is lacking in some basic information and could use more skills practice. I would like to see more teaching of musical notation at the beginning and I would also like to see a mode that overlays the enhanced notation with the musical sheet notation (I think this mode exists in the other Yousician app for string instruments) I had to ask my husband, who is much more musical than me, to explain the meaning of the sheet notation so that I would know how long to hold the notes for on piano. Overall, this app has lots of great lessons and songs to practice playing.

  • Not good!! Almost Made me cry!

I got my keyboard a year ago for Christmas, and I’ve tried a bunch of different piano teaching apps in hopes of finding one for free that I would be able to learn to play really well on. I tried simply piano, but after doing one lesson it was charging me like $70 to continue. And that was just for a One month membership!! Then I saw this and was like, “ok, this might work!” I read the reviews and they were all good, so I got the app. I got through 1 and a half lessons before the app wouldn’t let me continue without paying. Made me SUPER MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point I’m just gonna ask a friend to teach me. NOT HAPPY AT ALL! If you want more customers, charge WAY LESS, then we’ll talk.
