  • Great app! A few suggestions though.

I very abruptly found myself as a mom of a medical mystery. My 5 year old has a mystery illness that required a five day hospital stay, 31 tests, and a follow up with infectious disease. They still don’t know what’s wrong, more than two weeks later.
All that to say, the kinsa app has been an INCREDIBLE resource. I can track temps, meds, symptoms, ect. It has taken a bit off of my mental load. Also, because he’s so sick of being messed with, he has started resisting even temp checks but the little animation while the temp is loading makes him giggle. I immediately told my friends and family about it and at least three people have already bought it two days later.

The only suggestion I have is that I’d love to write in symptoms. My son has a complex issue going on and I’d like to write the weird ones in over using a note. I’d also like the option of clearing out the tips/follow up questions/ ect. Because of his symptoms the app is constantly telling me to call my dr and that what he’s going through is abnormal. I know this, and am in constant contact with them.

I very rarely leave reviews but I LOVE this product. I’d love to see you all come out with other medical devices for kids like BP cuffs, pulse ox, ect. Thank you!

  • OMG LIFE SAVER

So I downloaded the app and at first I didn’t know what to do but then I got a hang of it so one day I was feeling really sick so I went into the app and I went to symptoms and I put my symptoms or whatever and then I told me like I probably need like home care go to a doctor or go to the ER so I was like oh OK so I did because then I started feeling even worse so then I got there to the ER and they said that yes I had a little bug or something like that so I was like this app is a real lifesaver. I don’t even know how to explain it for real but this app I definitely recommend downloading it. I definitely recommend, I haven’t worked out thermometer yet, but I might use that I don’t know but yeah definitely recommended.

  • Pleasantly Surprised, I am Impressed

Our toddler had a high fever. We were using the stick thermometers under his armpits and it was a challenge just to get a temp. He hit 102 and i knew we needed a better way to monitor his temp. A quick trip to CVS later and I settled on the QuickTemp unit. I figured what the heck and gave it a shot. Wow. This little thermometer is backed by a great app. Allows you to keep track of temps with history, different profiles for all members of the family. Allows for a repeat reminder just in case you need to keep schedule for giving medicine and what not. Gives you recommendations and remedies and advice for your certain situation. For example, if your child or person is experiencing certain symptoms but no fever, still speak with a doctor. If your child is experiencing high fever, but no symptoms, stay home, give them fluids, a cool towel or maybe a bath, etc. Which we thought was awesome. Really neat, easy to use but also feature packed app. From a Parent in Need. This is awesome just amazing.

  • Best thermometer ever!

I’m a mom of 4 kids ranging in age from 14yrs to 14 months so I’ve tried quite a few thermometers over the years and this one is by far the best I’ve tried! Once you download the app to your phone you can add the members of your family or anyone you would use it on. Then when you take a temp you open the app up and select who it was for. Now when you have more than one kid, chances are you will have them all sick at some point in time and this makes it super easy to keep track of each kid, their temperature and it even allows you the option to add if you’ve gave them medication or not what time and how much and what it is. My favorite part though is the at home things to try for different symptoms going on. I love things that recognize that sometimes the best thing is rest and a few things at home before you rush to the doctor. I will definitely recommend this to any and every friend of mine for years to come

  • Every parent should get one!

I was shopping at target and came across the Kinsa in ear thermometer in the clearance department. I figured for $14 down from $50 that even if it was a bust that it was only $14. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also found quick care under the younger thermometer for $9. I bought them both. Let me tell you they are awesome. You add a profile for each member of your family and it tracks by Bluetooth to your phone with each temperature you take. You can also add symptoms so you can track on a timeline how your loved one is feeling. They have a space for notes, diagnosis, medication (what time you took it), symptoms, temperature and reminders! You should also see if your school is a part of their FLUency program. FLUency tracks is Kinsa philanthropic effort to prevent the spread of illness and health keep healthy kids in school. They partner with sponsors to provide schools with free thermometers, a free app, and a live health dashboard for your school. These tools can be used to monitor your school's health and keep healthy kids in school, using only anonymous, aggregated data. All in all I suggest picking one up. Even if it is at full price.

I will add this * the in ear thermometer seems to be about a degree off. So keep that in mind too.

  • Kinsa for the win!

About 5 years ago Kinsa reached out to our district school nurses so handful of campuses can test out Kinda thermometers. They gave $20 thermometers for interested families for free! It was such an amazing offer! The purpose started out to track flu cases in schools and than covid rolled around and became even more helpful for school nurses to track grade levels of numbers ill students with fevers. Parents used thermometers and connected their childs profile to a campus and we had a good idea of not any names but numbers per grade level who may be ill. Love love love Kinsa and have purchased multiple for friends and families since than. I highly recommend this thermometer and love the app on both a parent and school nurse side!

  • Great Tracking App

At first I only used this app to track when I used their thermometer. But I recently discovered that you can manually add in your own temperatures, plus any other information regarding your child’s health. For example: vomiting, coughing, when you administered medication, and even notes from your child’s health care provider. I’m loving this app now and you can see a time line of events that can easily be shared with the doctor. Also it shows your risk of Covid and the flu within your county. They also have health tips related to the symptoms that you entered in and also indicates if your child should see their doctor.

  • Almost perfect

This app works really well, for the most part. And the smart devices are affordable and generally work pretty well. The app interface is pretty good too. Intuitive, simple, does what it needs to do.

My only complaint is that the app does not remember what medications you’ve been taking. The whole system is clearly designed to be a cold/short-term sickness manager. It’s not for tracking long-term medications. And that’s good. Except it means that you’re going to be taking Tylenol every six hours and Mucinex every 12 hours and DayQuil or whatever periodically over the course of five or six days and the app does not provide any kind of quick entry to log medications that you have already been taking. It just makes logging medication’s kind of tedious, and that’s a shame because it’s exactly the kind of simple tracker that you need when you’re sick, but sometimes a little too tedious to keep up with… when you’re sick.

I think it would be great if the app just had a simple medication history you could pick from. If the app had that feature I would easily rated five stars.

  • Good product. However app not very intuitive.

Giving a rectal thermometer test to a 2 yr old is not a walk in the park. Frequently I would launch the app, turn on the thermometer, and by the time i was able to get control of the karate kicks going for my face was finally able to stick the kasa, Kansa, idk what you call this thing, in her rectum….then came to find the thermometer turned off by the time the thermometer was inserted. So only click the on button when you have those karate kid legs wrangled and trust that the Bluetooth will connect to the app. It usually does. So again. 5 star product. 3 star app intuitiveness. strange how they wouldn’t extend the standby time of the thermometer in rectal mode to allow time to collect a reading.

  • First gen no longer works. Frustrating Kluge.

Kinsa’s whole scheme is a horrible kluge. It’s a wonderful business model where Kinsa obsoletes the older stick thermometer hardware, even for the older iphones that have the 3.5 mm jack. The constantly updating app no longer works with gen 1 hardware. (And why does the app need weekly/monthly updates anyway? Oh yeah, “bug fixes and various improvements “ lol - it’s supposed to give you a temperature and it cannot even do the basics)

And, if you want a quick start, to get a fast temperature, well you can forget that. Kinsa forces you to set up an account, email, password, internet connection, etc. otherwise no temperature for you. Yeah, data harvesting is way more important than the temperature that you need, like RIGHT NOW! Yes, you’re forced to wade through seemingly endless badgering and menus in order to try to attempt to get a measurement.

This product is a complete SCAM. Save yourself from financial raping and nonstop frustrations - just buy a regular dumb thermometer from the store and run as fast as you can away from this over-engineered, software-mangled kluge with it’s surveillance spyware.

    Developer Response

Hello - We're very sorry for your disappointment with your Kinsa Smart Thermometer and app. Kinsa thermometers are intended to be used alongside the Kinsa app however it is not required to use the thermometer. To help decide whether or not you want to use the app, keep these questions in mind: Do I plan on taking my temperature often and need to track their related symptoms? Are multiple people in my household using this thermometer? Am I interested in some health guidance when taking my temperature? Am I interested in seeing when illness is rising and falling in my specific county? If you answered yes to these questions, you should definitely give the app a try. If you're strictly wanting to use the thermometer as a standalone thermometer, you can still do that too. 1. Click the button to turn on your Kinsa thermometer 2. Wait for APP to appear on the display 3. Quickly double-click the same button. Think at the same speed as double-clicking a mouse. This essentially forces your Kinsa smart thermometer to act as any other "dumb" digital thermometer. Hope this helps - Kinsa Customer Happiness Team
