Terrible
Pay over $200 for a drv 601 and its paired with the worst functioning app I’ve ever used. Constantly crashed for years when I’d try and use it. Now it connects through WiFi and then shuts the camera off and crashes the app. I expected more from a brand I had thought of to be reputable.
No connection
Version 1.2.16 still does not connect with DRV-A601W (MK1) camera!
I got the a610w with rear camera
I’ve read the review before installing, didn’t have much expectation. I did play around with the app before I install the dash cam in my car. Maybe that’s why I think is pretty easy to use. Just make sure the iOS is up to date and also the dash firmware is updated.
Awful app
I bought the dashcam and got the app it literally runs like it’s made by a toddler it’s so slow and laggy and extremely inconvenient get a different dashcam

DRV-A601W 👎🏻
Can’t get this cam to stay in record mode when it’s in my car (hardwired). Replacing the SD card a 3rd to 4th time. I’ve owned it for > 6 months and keep it away from me and my car most of that time, so I’d not have a collision trying to just get it in record mode while I’m on the road. The most user unfriendly device I’ve ever used. The “button touch-screen” doesn’t work 70% of the time. It cannot take TX summer (screen video blackens temporarily) AND overheats even when it’s not that hot out. Just recently got the device to connect with its phone app. (Took over 4 hrs, this try, nothing there to view). This is the new warranty replacement model. Developers need to trash this model. Or at least explain why it records testing it out, but won’t record in my car for more than a few minutes when the shop sets it up to supposedly work.

Fantastic
Purchase the new Kenwood Dash Cam DRV-610W. The App was not working due to me having security app, on my Iphone. Once I deleted the security app. The dash cash worked brilliantly and I was able to watch my driving footage. Hooray. Also check, dash cam firmware is upto date. Hope this review help’s and if all fails. Delete the app and put the app Back on your mobile.

App is much better
Purchased the new DRV-A601 Kenwood dash camera and was momentarily disappointed that it used this same app as the last generation, but when you start the app, you are prompted if you’re using a new or old model.
From there, the experience is much better and very easy to use and navigate. There is a helpful tutorial for setting up the camera, updating the unit was easy, changing settings and the settings available were easy. Everything is just better, good job kenwood

Dash cam wonders
Brought a Kenwood dash cam, so far really happy. Latest update on the app has transformed it. Connects great. Great for playing back.

I don’t usually write reviews but seeing all the negative reviews here I felt compelled to write one.
The dash cam itself (DRV-A610) is brilliant and the app compliments it.
Easy to use and set up. I can only assume the people who are having difficulty are maybe not following the instructions properly.
For the app to connect to the dash cam, you need to be in close proximity to the dash cam and connect to the dash cam wi fi.
You can then view the footage and select files to download. Once downloaded you can watch the footage without being connected to the dash cam and then download to your phones gallery. The app shows exactly where your vehicle is at the time of any incident.
Personally I highly recommend the dash cam and app!
