Junk

I got the owner to purchase 6 -DRVA301. Because of the features to send videos through social media via wifi They dont do nothing unless you hook to computer. So sad this is junk. Very difficult to update firmware. A big waste of time

Worthless

If you want to take up space on your phone with an app that does absolutely nothing, download. It’s a perfect app, it takes up space and does nothing.

Buy a different dash cam

I wish I had never purchased a KENWOOD brand dash cam - the app is horrible & is very difficult to get it to work. The dash cam will disconnect from the wifi in the middle of downloading a video. I say avoid avoid avoid

Useless

I’ve had this dash cam for 2 years and it does its job, but if you want to view the videos it’s a struggle. This app never worked for me and 2 years later it still doesn’t work. The only way for me to view the files is to dig through my closet for my old Macbook Pro with an SD card reader and view them there. I specifically bought this dash cam for the ability to ‘conveniently’ view and manage the files directly on my phone. I should’ve returned it upon realizing that the one feature I wanted doesn’t work. It’s a pretty basic feature and there’s no reason it shouldn’t work.

Horrible app.

I am not able to view any dash cam files on the app, or view any dash cam info, .e.g., firmware version, dash cam model info. When I try to view files on the app, it says “No SD card”, yet there’s one in there and I’m able to view files on the device itself. Kenwood needs to step up their game, with their app and A160W device as well.

Poor design and connectivity issues

The most mission critical thing for an app like this is connecting to the device. But when you try (iPhone 13) the app takes you to the settings screen it does not generate a list of devices to connect to. The instructions are non-existent. I managed to connect the device myself using the Wi-Fi settings screen on the phone - I.e ignore instructions and go back to basics. Once connected things don’t improve. The app is not intuitive to use and is slow to transfer data. Often it is not clear quite what the app is doing. For some daft reason the app will drop connection to the device if you navigate to other parts of the app.

This really sad, expected more from the developers

Had this about a couple years now patiently waiting for the upgrade from KENWOOD but yet hasn’t done! I believe it’s time to switch to nexar they definitely have a better working system I sequence with their app and camera, will not be purchasing anything from KENWOOD any more…SMH!!

App does NOT function

If you want to view your videos, you’ll need to use the desktop version available as a download from the he KENWOOD support. As for the App for iPhone, it’s completely unusable and needs to be upgraded. My dash can unit will connect wirelessly but you cannot access any videos or pictures. I sure hope that KENWOOD realizes this and fixes the problem. I have the 601W model and am curious to know if all the dash cam models have a problem. The KENWOOD DRV-691w was rated the best at the time I purchased so I’m wondering why then the app is of no use. This is part of their sales pitch so is this false advertising? I’ve upgraded my firmware so I know this isn’t the issue. It’s aggravating to spend that much for what is reviewed by major publications as top notch. Even the desktop app doesn’t display GPS maps so that isn’t the best either. At least you can download the videos and share from your desktop.

Not bad for $100! Read my review before buying!

From all the horrible review the dash cam app was getting, I thought I had made a bad decision. But after use it and getting used to the app, it’s good for the money. My price range was $100-$300 and for it being only $100 it does exactly what I need. Why I’m giving it three stars is simple that the app could be more user friendly. I’m young, so it took me some playing around with the app and camera to understand how simple everything really is. If you’re older, I could see this being a headache and not wanting to deal with it. But I was able to switch it to record 5 minute videos with very little issue. The 16gb memory card isn’t great but I can get to work and back safety knowing everything is being recorded. Once I get home I connect the app with the camera and just delete everything. Ive moved over a one minute video and 5 minute video just to see how long it would take. Also to see if it would work to move the videos to my phone. The 5 minute video upload took about 5-10 minutes, which without Wi-Fi isn’t bad. If you’re on a budget and need a dash cam, I’d recommend this one for the price. The app and cam takes some practice to get used to but once you do it’s functional and good for the price. Unless you upgrade the memory chip the 16gb one is only good for short trips. Hint: If you can’t get the videos to delete, it’s cause you have to unlock them first then delete them. Good luck everyone and I hope this helps!

Bad App

The dash cam is super but the app is a headache! Because of the app, I regretted buying this dash cam. I couldn’t see whatever was caught by the camera on my phone. Please update or do something to your app. Don’t waste our time and money!
