  • Pointless

It seems there's no narrative. You're sent to restore colour to a town, but halfway through the game all the colour comes back. And then you have to explode an eye. Once you've done that, it's not over. There is a little bit more after that. Why? I'll never know.

The controls were really bad, and sometimes I'd solves a puzzle but couldn't get the cursor to work, so I wasted a lot of time trying other solutions before finally going back to the right one and suddenly the cursor was working again.

Also, frustrating when going up and down stairs that you have to watch the animation every time.

  • Nice idea, unpolished execution

So the idea is nice - a world where some menacing force has “stolen” colour across the world, and you need to jump into picture-portals to go to those places and restore balance. So far so good.

    But then come the issues.
    1. The game is far from finished. Only one location built, which takes about an hour to complete.
    2. The puzzles often don’t always seem fair or logical. Finding an obscure dip in the ground to place seeds? Pushing a photo onto a tv?
    3. The controls are terrible. So bad that often you’ll get the right answer but be unable to execute it and think you must be wrong.
    4. The story is horribly under developed. Clearly the developer has put a lot of effort into the playing detail, but nothing into the overarching narrative.

A good hobby game to have developed, but not worthy of Apple Arcade.

  • Some twisted in-game logic

I really enjoyed this, but it takes time to get into it. Touchscreen controls work fine on an iPad, despite previous reviewers complaints. The puzzles are genuinely difficult and rarely obvious and remind me of the slightly bonkers in-game logic of Monkey Island etc.

Hopefully they’ll make more of this! I only gave it 4 stars because the means by which your inventory items work with the outside world is decidedly clunky and not-obvious; I barely made it past the start “tutorial” because I couldn’t work out what I was supposed to tap and where. Once I’d worked that out, I was grand.

  • Interesting and Frustrating

Great atmosphere thanks to very good art, music, and sound design. It’s also a great premise for a mysterious game. However, the controls are extremely frustrating from the very beginning and never really get much better. Movement is fine, but interacting with objects in your inventory lacks the user feedback needed to be certain what you’re doing or attempting is allowed and effective. A large amount of time is spent in trial and error because you’re not sure if the game is registering what you’re trying to do. Are you trying to do something that doesn’t work, or are you just not doing it in the right order or at the right spot?

  • yo

people are saying the controls were bad, they couldn’t get anywhere etc. But I think the controls were fine, a little annoying with the inventory, but walking and stuff was fine to me. The game was challenging, but that was the point, I do agree hints should be added since some people cannot get past certain points. All I wish was there were more levels, but I understand there isn’t since it’s a big project to make new levels. Overall, I liked the game.

  • Nice graphics, good challenge.

Looking forwards to the next chapter. Thus one was done in a few hours with some help with mates.

    Thanks for your review!
  • The type of game that makes Arcade worth it

I really enjoyed this. It had similar vibes to The Room series. A little challenging in parts which really makes you think. Controller support was a very nice addition. The ending definitely left it open for more chapters.

Discolored is the type of game that really makes the Arcade subscription worth it. The only downside was that I enjoyed it so much I completed it within one sitting. Here’s hoping they add more to it soon.

  • Wonderful Game!

This is what Apple Arcade is all about. A short cinematic experience full of mystery that can be completed in 1-2 sittings. It reminds me of early 90s adventures such as Myst, where you are given very little hand holding. I completed the game on my Apple TV without any hints on and thoroughly enjoyed it. Let’s hope the developers add more.

  • Can’t play

    I found 2 problems.
1 - it’s slow to load. This I can live with.
2 - the screen won’t orientate as in I’m playing upside down.
This for me makes this game unplayable & will be deleted unless fixed.
I will update this review if I get to play it.
  • Downloaded today, finished today

Please make more 😩 I’m guessing by the name of the final achievement that maybe there will be more but please don’t make us wait forever, I thoroughly enjoyed this game, it’s really original and forces you to think outside of the box.
This game has made my subscription to Apple Arcade seem worthwhile now, thanks guys 😊
