1.1.7

NEW FEATURES in 1.1.7 Exporting- Fixed some bugs related to exporting. Some of the UI was unresponsive when hitting export within the app. This was most likely due to some newer IOS versions that were later released. *** Please keep in mind that exporting/ importing directly into other apps such as Dropbox or even using Airdrop and Discord all work completely differently because of how those apps are created. We, unfortunately, can not improve much on batch exporting/ importing into these apps unless those developers improve how their apps deal with multiple images being imported or passing through them. For batch exporting images, I still recommend hooking up Dropbox/ Google Drive to the files app on your iPad and just batch exporting through the files app from Vizref. Please also keep in mind that batch exporting hundreds of images at once will most likely crash Vizref. This is also out of our control. I recommend batch exporting about 50 images at once for the most stable and consistent experience. Vizref and other apps can't export hundreds of images at once because every app on the iPad is limited to how much Memory it can use during all operations. The app is crashing because of the hard limit set by Apple for each app. Feature - Revert Button- Revert will undo any cropping or rotating you've done to the image. The main reason for adding the revert button was that some users were finding their images were oddly scaled/ stretched to the wrong ratio. Revert is a backup for returning your image to the correct ratio/ scaling - the revert button is located in the toolbox icon at the bottom right after selecting an image. - Exporting gif files. Should work now give it a try! *Bug Fixes* -Fixed a bug that caused images from your board to not display if your board crashed on exporting. This bug should be completely gone. If it persists after updating your app please contact us at vizrefpro@gmail.com **If your images have disappeared from your board, please note that those images are still on you iPad and stored locally. You can retrieve them by going to the Files app then searching for your Vizref folder in " On My iPhone " or " On My iPad" file Open "Private Documents" then you will see each .VRB file. These are your reference boards and store your images locally. You can then retrieve your images here. Fixed some crash bugs. Fixed several UI inconsistencies and bugs.

NEW FEATURES in 1.1.6 Exporting!-We've added multiple ways to export images that you've gathered in your Vizref boards. To access exporting features simply click the gear icon at the top left and choose which type of exporting you'd like to use. Save images will send your images directly to your root Photo Album on your device. Currently, we are dependant on using the files app for exporting locally or to cloud storage. You can choose any folder you'd like for batch exporting all your images or you can even flatten your board as one image and export that. -We've discovered some functionality issues with ios14 and specifically the files app. For the best exporting results we recommend exporting and batch exporting images to "On My iPad" or "iCloud Drive" These two locations seem to have the best results. If you're exporting to files>dropbox or files>google drive, there seem to be irregularities. Please if you notice problems here report them to apple and not us. Apple needs to update its files app functionality. *For Procreate users, My recommendation for referencing multiple images from your Vizref Board is to "export selected" as one image. Save that flattened image to your photos app. Then you can import your new flattened reference board into Procreate's Reference Image viewer window! This is a great way to save screen space. *Printing and other share functionality is in the works. You can't Print directly from Vizref yet but if you simply save your board as a PDF you can Print the saved image from your photos album. Use the new export features to send your Reference as a PDF to print! Simply select Export> Export Board>PDF Wait for the Exporting UI to appear then scroll down to save the image. Open photos album and select the saved board Click the share icon on the upper right corner and choose print. -Improved HD image usage. HD image mode was still lowering the resolution of images too much. We've increased the resolution limit here. BUG FIXES- A lot of our time was spent fixing bugs and crashes related to the new ios 14 release. Sorry for the delay. ios14 was released out of the blue for us and seemed to cause a lot of problems for users. We've gone through all the crash reports and have successfully dealt with all the crash issues we could find! Please continue to email us if there are still bugs preventing you from using VizRef. FEATURES in 1.1.5 Added IMAGE ROTATE!-select an image-look for the new tool box icon-rotate image!Multiple images can be rotated together as well by using multiselect. Sorry for the delay on this! There were ALOT of bugs to fix when adding this feature. * LOW MEMORY BUG- a small number of users were experiencing a bug that caused them to get a low memory message in their first boards when the boards were relatively empty. We believe that this was a memory crash error and that we have resolved all the bugs related to this issue. We have not however been able to reproduce this bug internally. If you are still experiencing this error that causes a low memory pop up in an empty boardWe have found that if you experience this bug in your first boards, simply uninstalling the app and reinstalling it will remove this bug completely from Vizref. If you need further assistance* please contact us directly at vizrefpro@gmail.com * We are still looking for a better fix but reinstalling has been working very well and no users have complained of the bug returning afterwards. We are listening to all feedback for requested features. Please look forward to free updates in the future of more great tools for referencing your favorite inspirational images. Thank you all so much for the support!-mrbeezul

Sorry for the delay on this! There were ALOT of bugs to fix when adding this feature. FEATURES in 1.1.2 -Improved Auto Pack! - AutoPack now works on any batch import from Photos, Files, and Drag and Drop. It Auto works! • Great! Just needs a little more.

I’ve been using this app for years for my art references and I LOVE it! However it’s just missing a key feature that I think would take this app from great to perfect

-an option to write/draw onto the board. I think adding some kind of translucent ‘’sticky note’’ situation where we can slot it over the photos we drop in for notes or adjustments without drawing ontop of the actual reference would make it so easy to keep all the information on the board. I don’t wanna have to keep drawing/writing on a separate program just to drop it back in Vizref.

Thank you regardless for making this app for us artists and I hope you consider this suggestion!! 💕

  • Great app, getting slower

    Update July 2024:
No updates for 3 years. I wish the developer would keep refining the app. I’ve just upgraded to an M4 iPad Pro, and the app still works, but gifs play back at double speed or more, making them harder to work with. Still hoping for the ability to flip and rotate gifs like we can with still images.
    ——-

I’ve been using VizRef since it came out, and it’s become integral to my art workflow. So well-designed and useful! Unfortunately I find that some of my reference galleries become slower and slower to work with over time, and can take up to 8 seconds to fully open and display. I thought the problem might be simply the volume of images (240) but then I exported all those images and added them to a new gallery, and the new gallery opened twice as fast. This procedure is not a good workaround, though, because it loses all the placement, scale, rotation, and cropping that I’ve done. It would be great if VizRef allowed the user to duplicate a gallery, which would make it easy to split up a big gallery into smaller galleries. I would also like to see support for copy-pasting multiple images at a time. Currently it will only paste one image at a time, which is impractical for moving photos between galleries. I’m hoping the developer can find more ways to optimize existing galleries, and/or make it easier to duplicate and move images between galleries, preserving settings! Also: still hoping for the ability to flip and rotate gifs…

  • Fantastic

This app is great! I’ve had it for years now and use it all the time as an artist gathering reference for projects and commissions. It’s a one time cost that’s absolutely worth it. There’s other apps that can do similar things like Freeform and Goodnotes where you can annotate and do more which can be nice but even with using those apps I still find myself coming back to VizRef for simple inspiration/reference collecting. It also cleanly split screens with pretty much every app but most importantly Procreate and Safari are what I use it with the most. Highly recommended!
