There are so many better options

Gym is alright but they charge you a lot for renting courts and in top of that they charge you way over what they should for borrowing a racquet. I got scammed out of a fiver because they didn’t want to include my racquet with the price of my friends. They made paying really difficult as well. Some employees are great but others are just plain annoying. Another huge problem that I have with this gym is that you can only work out with one other person. I have to leave my friends and work out on my own because an employee doesn’t want to let us. We have never been loud and we are respectful with the equipment but they don’t care and ruin it for everyone anyway. The rule was 3 people in a group before but then they changed it to 2 and tried to act like it was always like that. All things considered the gym is still ok.

Recently they have made a new rule that if you are under 16 you can’t use half of the equipment. This makes no sense and they have not given us a reason as to why.

Necessary evil

This app appears to be the front end for the Better website (which is where the calendar of classes is hosted). So initially it required endless repeated log-ins to access the calendar, until I started hitting the “back” button and using the “Book Classes” tile on the app homepage. This solved the verification/log in problem.

What is possibly EVEN MORE ANNOYING is the hardware on-site allows me to use my membership barcode to buzz in, but does not always talk to my account. So I get dinged £3 for a no-show. This has happened on average once every seven visits. On principle I have contacted customer service to reverse the charge but I’m starting to wonder if these fees are part of their business model. Also you don’t even need to reserve space - just ask the 5 extra people who showed up at a recent yoga class. 19 spaces & 24 attendees. There is no method for catching this.

So many dumb things.

The worst app

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the least intuitive app ever. I tried to book swimming course for my child, it took me 2 hours to do so. Firstly i had to create him as attendee so that he gets his separate membership. After one hour of searching and paying for it, i realised the app shows we paid for it with no further details. I spent another hour looking for the swimming lesson details and realised i have to use two separate log ins and passwords. One showing i paid for my son’s course, the other showing barcode to get to the classes. I don’t understand why this is not linked to my main log in page but is in the leisure centre’s courses log in page only. It looks like nothing is linked and i had to take a copy of the barcode as I am worried i won’t be able to find it again as when I log back into the account it says i have no bookings. This app makes no sense. U pay £12 for booking a course. I think I should be paid for doing that considering that I have spent two hours on it!!!

The gym is awful

I don’t know if this goes for every gym but it definitely does for the one I went to: the staff each have their own rules for the under 16s with some not letting you use any weights and others letting you use all of them, you are only aloud in for one hour at a time and it is such a stupid rule which essentially doesn’t allow you to get your moneys worth, I would like to add that the app is sooo slow, the staff are rude(not all of them)I went to ask I would be charged for not showing up to your sessions and the only response I received was “you’re early for your session you can’t come in” I said that I know but I just want to know if I would get charged to which I received the exact same response as before. And of course the overall thing which made me switch gyms was that when you book you have to “confirm purchase” about two times and if you forget to do this then you will be sent straight back home after walking half an hour to the gym. I have no idea why this is a feature as everyone just sneaks into the gym anyways and every other gym doesn’t do it.
Ultimately pick another gym and not this one( my experience may be very different to other peoples gyms but this was just my experience)

Truly the worst app I have ever used complete waste of time better off finding a computer

Navigation is weird constantly getting logged in and out. Took me forever to book something kept getting logged out did it on a laptop in a couple of minutes

Better, but still needs work!

I apprehensively downloaded after reading the previous 1* reviews, but acknowledging that the application had recently been updated. I managed to find my local leisure centre and register, but then I had to search for my local centre again to find the activity that I was interested in booking (the app didn’t remember my local, post-registration) and I also had to input my details again for payment (still no auto-fill). That’s the point at which a bailed out, I don’t really want my card details listed on numerous sites and kept in applications. I prefer to use Apple Pay, PayPal or Shop to keep where their registered down to the bare minimum. All-in-all the app seems to have been improved since the previous reviews and is useful for me to find out what I’m interested in at my local leisure centre, but I won’t be using it to book anything until there is an alternative to inputting my actual card details.

Doesn’t work at all

It just doesn’t work. The backend of this app has got to be a mess, none of the features will load. I cant book or see anything. Am even if it did the UX design is horrible. I manage my account from my computer because this app is useless.

Hopeless ‘app’ Worst UX ever

Like many people who have written a review here, I don’t normally leave feedback but this is so awful I’m hoping enough 1 star ratings will motivate Better to invest in a decent developer to overhaul this horrendous UX. it almost makes it impossible to book anything which is awful when you just want to go swimming with your kid. On mobile it won’t hold your login so every time you navigate away from a page you have to login again. You have to have 2 separate logins for 1 off bookings and lesson/course bookings, WHY??? Each center booking system is different, it’s confusing, clunky and frustrating. If Better want to triple their business, all they need to do is fix this ‘app’, it is actively blocking customers from booking. It has taken me months of attempts & circular account issues to book my child on swimming lessons and even now I’m not sure it’s confirmed. Sort it out, PLEASE!

I’d like to be able to log in and manage my account, but there’s no way to do that (and if there is, I can’t find it :/)
