I find this app fine for booking, it took a while to get used to it but it’s ok now. However, the app needs a facility where it confirms right away and visibly to the customer that you have been checked in to the events you have booked. 3 times in the past 5 weeks I have been prohibited from booking classes because I supposedly didn’t attend classes I’d booked, I had always attended btw, scanned and checked in to 2 different centres, a charge of £3 is imposed on your account and you can’t book further classes until this is paid. When you try to call Better to query it is a lot of hassle, they constantly refer you to the website which doesn’t deal with this. Get someone to update you app Better, it’s pretty rubbish for a company of this size! Looking at other reviews I can’t understand why Better haven’t addressed their app feedback. I’m away now to ring again because they have again put another charge on my account!

Not Fit for Purpose
This is this most unintuitive app I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. 'Better' push you towards the app to book a session but booking a session is a veritable nightmare. It is very difficult to agree to the T&C's as the 'okay' button is unavailable, and yet you can't go ahead with the booking without it. Same applies to the next screen. The payment screen freezes regularly when trying to pay. Added to that, once you finally manage to book something, and have had the confirmation email, the booking doesn't appear on the 'upcoming bookings' in the app so you are unable to amend the booking if you need to. And even before all that, the whole app is clunky and difficult to navigate. Really bad show for a product which actually costs a substantial amount of money, whichever way you look at it. 'Better' invest some of your income on hiring a decent app designer. I'm sure this app would have put many people off going through with bookings and membership because of its impracticality.
It doesn't store your details so there's no auto fill option. You have to input your details, email address (twice!) etc each time. You also have to input your card details every time when booking as there is no 'remember card' option and it doesn't let you use Apple Pay or PayPal.
I'm this day and age, Better really does need to do much better!

Not very user friendly
There are several problems with this app, mainly with the booking. Despite being a member and being signed in to the app if I want to book for swimming I always have to put my email address and member number in and fiddle around with the funny booking system itself which seemingly makes no sense. The barcode that shows your member number always turns your phone to max brightness which is an absolute nuisance. On top of all that, their “help centre” is really not very helpful, I wanted to speak to a person, called up, the automated messaging system hung up because there were too many people on the line. There is an option to “chat online” to a helper, that doesn’t work. There is an option to submit an enquiry about a particular problem and even that doesn’t work. Overall, booking is a nightmare and very confusing, and the app it’s self leaves a lot to be desired. The gym staff and the gyms themselves however are lovely

Literally stop me swimming
First ever review to try and get the attention of whoever lets these guys run websites or apps. It’s the worst user experience I’ve ever had. Every time I’ve tried to book to go swimming on web or app I haven’t found a way to do it. If you can only swim at better centres if you pay some kind of up front membership fee fine, but just make that clear. I’m pretty sure you can still pay for a swim at a centre but it looks like an impossible task to figure out how to do it! Please understand the user journey for someone who just wants to take their kid for a swim - use someone who’s never been on your site before and book out a solid hour to watch them get lost, pull hair out and give up. It won’t be an exaggeration that your poor web & app is causing health issues to thousands of kids & families because you make it so hard to book your facilities for exercise. So disappointed

Not so good after all, don’t worry I’ll pass!
Not so good after reading reviews. I’ve downloaded this app because I WANTED to buy a membership but reading the reviews it’s an awful app to use so I think I will skip my all included membership. If this is as poor and totally frustrating as the website I think It will be useless for us and tbh I’m not in the mood for getting stressed trying to book an exercise.
In times like we have now with COVID you’d THINK communication and bookings would be sorted out but I doubt that very much here. Pathetic really to think you’d have to reinstall an app dozens of times to go for a little swim OR gym. And then when you read the complaints there is literally no one that stands up and answers them. Typical hypocritical taking the money and run attitude. The prices of the membership are less then the original but if booking an actual session will be a problem all the time I think I won’t bother!! And then you need a stupid Nickname... WHAT FOR!!!! The person who developed this should be SACKED and never ‘develop’ anything again!!

Awful app - booking is impossible
I never write reviews. But this appalling app has prompted me to. Booking is literally
Impossible through this app, and always in surprising new ways. A few weeks ago, I got all the way through the process, clicked ‘Pay’ and assumed I had booked, only to turn up
At the leisure centre and be told there was no record of my booking. Last week, I spent 20 minutes trying to input my family’s (correct) membership numbers which it would randomly accept, or not accept, depending on how it felt at the time. This week, I’ve got all the way through the process but now it thinks my (correctly entered) debit card number is not a real number. So that’s another 15 mi it was wasted. To be honest i shouldn’t have been surprised - based on the quality of their staff and service levels at my local centre, this is exactly the level Better app I should have expected. Nothing works.

Useless
Whoever developed this app should be sacked. It’s impossible to use. Last night I managed to sign in, but couldn’t connect my existing membership (it asks to validate some information such as DOB, which I entered, and it says ‘not recognised’ - in fact, it wouldn’t recognise any of the information I provided, even my postcode, which I know is right as Better wrote to me recently)! So I can’t book anything, as I can’t link my membership. Tried to log in today, and now can’t even log in - just get a ‘service Authentication failed’ response. I’ve tried setting up from scratch using other email addresses. Nothing works. I’m going to cancel my membership as this app has just forced me to. And of course, they don’t take phone calls at the weekend (why - your gyms are open at the weekend so why not provide the support) and there’s no indication from their email auto reply as to when they might be able to fix the issue: “ we are currently experiencing a huge volume of calls and emails meaning it will take us longer to respond to you, we apologise.” If you had a better app you wouldn’t get the huge volume of calls and emails!

Poor app fixed by booking on the internet via laptop
I don’t normally write reviews but I think it is fair when informing people who will be using this app.
When booking swimming for example it will constantly say an error has occurred with card payment. There are two different ways to do this either on the main page “book a swim” which will give you the same issue with your credit card but insists you have reserved a space and therefore are unable to checkout again to book it and insists you can only book one session a day. The other method is to click on “view your profile” and make a booking this way (which also declines your card details and informs you have no bookings). I suspect that this app is running two different platforms that don’t communicate with each other.
If this helps anyone with the same issue I managed to make a booking via their website on my laptop with no issues. Therefore the only reason to keep the app is to show proof of purchase if asked at the leisure centre. I have this app 2 stars because at least it let me register :).

So many glitches!
You need this app in order to book many sessions but unfortunately there are so many glitches with it. It took me 30 minutes to try to book a swimming session. A few examples: my homepage shows a totally random selection of centres, none of which I’ve ever visited and not including the one where I am a registered member. When booking as a member it still says ‘pay by card’ even though the sessions are free for me. It seems to prioritise non-members: my friends and I were trying to book the same swimming slots and they managed fine (all non-members) but myself and another member received a message saying we had to wait another day until we could book. Also random glitches like the keyboard disappearing meaning you can’t type to enter log in details. Basically a very poorly designed app but not totally surprising given the UX on their website is bad too.
