This is the best sudoku client out there. Most entertaining and nicest interface. Some crash bugs are frustrating and ui weirdness but not deal killers.

I would like to revisit this review. This game saved my life. I had a brain injury and Instead of watching junk tv I speed ran this game on hard for months while my brain was recovering. The hope was that my brain when it was finally healed it would be healed in an IQ 1000 instead of being a smooth brained vegetable because it was the hardest thing i could do without getting a headache.

Well my mind seems to have healed very well and I’m able to work again at very high levels of productivity and difficulty. It’s impossible to say if this was the magic secret to recovery but at least in my experience it felt like a challenging brain workout that scaled with difficulty as I got better and my brain healed.

  • Glitches often and now 60 second of ads Ever. Number. Played :(

I forgot how awful this one is and regretfully downloaded again by accident.I have an iPad eight and my iOS is updated. This game is mostly fun but after a while the glitches really get to you. Sometimes if you push the red pencil to delete options it doesn’t work. Sometimes you can push square after square and it will still be red and sometimes it just goes back to normal. Then you push theNumber you mean to delete and the system thinks you are trying to enter that has the answer and bleeps the error noise. There seems to be no rhyme and reason to the scoring. As you play there is a score recorded in the upper right hand corner. But it seems to have nothing to do with the score that happens at the end. They never match up and don’t seem related at all. I really wish that function keys worked correctly all the time. They just don’t and then it becomes frustrating. I’m taking this off my device for now and maybe I’ll try again one day. They have some good ideas in teaching you how to play sudoku and I do like that it fills in all of your options so you can figure it out.

  • incredible design but constantly crashes

I think this app achieves its stated goal of being the ideal sudoku app, with thoughtful and pleasing design along with genuinely helpful tips and lessons.

unfortunately, i only use this app sporadically because it crashes so often it doesn’t feel worth the frustration. it freezes any time you switch screens (whether looking at another app, swiping down to change your music or check a notification, etc.) and sometimes reloads the app or quits entirely. when it reloads or quits, it sometimes loses your progress in the game you were playing. it also sometimes freezes while just doing things within the app.

it seems like maybe a bandwidth issue because the app uses sooo much storage, but i really hope the creators are able to fix this because it’s truly a wonderful app!!!

  • Good but a little disorienting

I’ve been enjoying the app with its lovely design/UI. It’s clearly a labor of love and a lot of thought went into this. However, I wish there was an option for focus without accent notes, or a less intense highlight on the note in general. I found the improve techniques tutorials a bit difficult to understand due to the accent notes taking my focus away from the regular notes that would be important to completing it.

The current color scheme is a bit high contrast and leaves me a bit overwhelmed. Doubly so when using focus with accent notes. I did just find the black/white text color option which was helpful, but it still feels a bit crowded.

Still fun though and offers plenty of brain twisting challenges!

  • Best Sudoku app out there — really needs a “redo” button

I’ve tried a lot of Sudoku apps, and this is the best — with features like auto-candidates, highlighting, technique practicing, and daily puzzles. The “hints” can be kind of useless, since they don’t lead to solving the next square, just eliminating candidates (irrespective of whether you’ve already eliminated those candidates).
But in case the developer reads this: one crucial thing the app is missing, in my experience, is a “redo” button. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally hit “undo” and then had to spend an annoying amount of time trying to figure out and remedy what I undid.

  • Overall good, audio bugs are really irritating

The app pretty much functions as intended, there are ads which can be annoying but it’s to an acceptable degree. What really grates on my nerves while playing is that the background music can be super buggy. It sometimes will play the music for the game selection screen, but when you start playing a puzzle the music will cut out, or it will work fine but then cut out after an ad plays, or it will be silent but will come on for a few seconds and be silent again, and sometimes it will play both the music for the game selection screen as well as for the puzzle at the same time. I have to close and reopen the game multiple times to try to fix it but sometimes this doesn’t work either. This was not really an issue at first but has gotten so persistent to the point that I now avoid playing the game because it’s so frustrating. Still, it’s otherwise a decent app so I don’t have much else to complain about. For me personally though, this may be enough to drive me to uninstall it altogether.

Also, I wish there was some kind of dark mode that wasn’t locked behind a paywall, because it honestly hurts my eyes & I hate the color palette, but I’m not willing to spend money just to change that. I’d rather just not play it. But that’s just me.

  • Incredible how much I’ve learned

I absolutely love this app—it’s become my favorite puzzle game. Learning the strategies has made me so good at Sudoku and it’s been really fun to track my progress. The tools are incredibly customizable and easy to use, and it’s just a really fun, functional game.

If I could offer one suggestion it would be a way to turn off the leaderboard/stats. I hate every game app forcing stats and rankings on me, I play puzzles to relax.

  • Starting to slow down

I love this app! I think it's a great, great way to teach people how to play sudoku and I've spent so many hours on it. However, since the last update was so long ago, I've noticed that the gameplay itself has really started to lag, making it really frustrating to play. I don't know if that's on my end, hence why I'm still giving 5 stars, but if it's an app thing, hopefully it'll get fixed!!

  • Needs work

I really want to like this, and to upgrade to the full version, but I am frustrated by it. For example, where’s the Help? And I don’t mean “hint”. When I took the little tutorial, finding Focus seemed easy enough to do, but I am unable to get it to give me Focus. I dislike that it allows me to write in a number that should not be an option for that row/column. If one’s mission is to make it easy to learn Soduko, being able to do that would be a necessity, I would think. If nothing else, PLEASE let me know how to activate Focus, or I will have to go back to the Soduko I was playing before.

  • Options for Cross Out to Erase

Love this app! I was a big sudoku fan before, but the learning and tutorials really helped me pick up the techniques to do sudoku better in any app! I have one recommendation, I have a hard time seeing pairs quickly with the cross out tool. I think an option to change the function from cross out to erase would help me. I was doing the bare bones NYT puzzle online and because of that alone, I think I was almost able to solve it faster. :/ I also don’t think I’ve ever uncrossed something out, so Just an erase would be perfect. Thanks!!
