.?
I have set up authentication before but to get in my authenticatiok account i have to get into the my gov Scot website but because it takes authenticator it won’t let me do anything!!!
Just no
Google has an Authenticator app. Microsoft has an Authenticator app. 1Password and other password apps can store authentication codes.
Why on earth would you choose to create your own incompatible one? It looks cheap and I don’t trust it to be secure.
Instead, add standard TOTP support to myscotgov.org
(also, why not call it “mygov.scot”?)

Badly designed
This is embarrassing, it works but wouldnt be surprised if it breaks in the future. Either make another app or use standard 2Factor authetication apps like authy please.
Far too complex for a simple task.
This app is far too complex for what it’s designed to do. I couldn’t get it to work as it was supposed to. How can I scan a QR code with the same device I’m working with? Please stop hiring failed university students and send them back to MacDonalds.
Did not work at all
Tried to install 2FA on my account using this app. System just shows endless “verifying” dialogue box. After 30 mins or so I gave up. Tried QR and manual code. No luck. Also, why would the government spend money developing their own authenticator app when there are well-trusted ones (eg Microsoft Authenticator) out there already that do work well?
