LOVE THIS APP!
I found a large box with a couple hundred old negatives. OLD negatives going back to the 1920’s. I tried holding them up to a light to look at them but it wasn’t good enough. I searched for an answer, not wanting to have to take them all somewhere to be developed. I found this app and I was so excited. I bought a device about 10”x12” that lights up. I call it a tracing board. I used my phone to take pictures of the negatives that were lit up by the tracing board. Like magic the negatives became positives in the pictures I took. I found old pics of my mom, dad, other family and friends that are absolutely priceless!! I had so much fun! I highly recommend this app!Show lessBailey23456

Have scanned hundreds of slides and negatives over the last few years and every now and then a few pop up that I need to check and potentially scan. This app is perfect for enabling you to see the colour positive of the neg and then decide if you want to photograph it. The camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max is more than up to the task for capturing “snaps” so for me this is an ideal solution.Show lessLeftypete2

Easy to use, lots of tools for my use in restoring old negatives. Had negatives in a box from my father that were potentially 90 years old. Filmbox took those in stride and made fabulous pics. Restored images of family long gone, and so easy!Smithekkey

First, you cannot apparently use images you have already taken. Kinda crazy. But it took a solid minute of videos and forced "how to" animations that didn't even make sense to figure it out. Like, how is me pushing a fake button with an arrow pointing at it "rewarded" with a "congratulations" for scanning a negative. I did no such thing. And are you making me look at someone else's family? I don't even know if I would care if it works considering how poorly designed the first wasted minute of trying to use the app was and then they want monthly fees and seriously, why are there so many videos??? I have not been this annoyed or frustrated by app in a very long time. You can tell because It's taking me wayonget to write this than the EXTRAORDINARILY long time it took me to find out you can't use images you have already taken due to the insane amount of videos and faux tutorials.Show lessiPhone Chief

So when you start your scanning journey, you would know how long to hold the scanning button, how to hold your negatives and more. Pretty cool app if you have negatives but not the actual photos. You can create new photos using the negatives. Its best if you have the device or light box needed to do so properly. You can use your phone as one, however the quality is compromised, in my opinion. Only a 3day free trial. Still pretty awesome I had lost a certain photo or 2 I liked and was able to use this app to recreate the photos from the negatives. Quality wasn’t as great as originals, but hey, they were otherwise lost and now I have them again, so I can’t really complain.Show lessNyx006

I tried it and it is terrible. You can’t get a quality photo by holding the negative and holding the phone to get a decent photo.
Also extremely difficult to get a good photo while trying to use a computer screen using your recommended backlight app.Whimpslayer

Thank you for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that! Hold the negative 2 inches (5 cm) away from the computer screen in order not to have the image pixelated. The camera needs to see the side holes to crop properly. If you use an iPhone 13 Pro or purchased the macro lens on Amazon: You can hold the device closer to the negative. If the image gets blurry, try to move slightly back and forth until it gets back in focus. Please try again and let us know how it goes. After helping to move mum to new home I came across some negatives that are 70yrs old. Hoping to print some photos, I wanted to see who was on the photos and amazingly was able to see my mum (who is now 89) as a young teenage girl. Very emotional. So pleased I found this app. Heartfelt thanks.judy_in_disguise
