Hi FrostyFire, it absolutely does work on Apple Watch 6 and iPhone 12. :) Please feel free to send us a message and we'll help resolve any issues, contact@heartcast.app or on Instagram/Twitter @HeartCastApp --- We've also posted quite a bit of info here: https://help.heartcast.app
  • Awesome app!

This app is the bridge all us Apple users need! Like many people, I’m housebound due to COVID and it’s winter here in the northeast. I want to ride my mountain bike. I’m on a budget and can’t afford a ~$400 smart trainer. What’s a girl to do? Well, I dragged out my old CycleOps dumb trainer, set my bike in it, bought an iPad holder, and Wahoo cadence and speed sensors. I connected up the sensors to the Wahoo app, Strava, and Apple health. Recorded my first ride and realized no heart rate was recorded. Drats! I didn’t want to buy a heart rate monitor since I have one on my wrist (Apple Watch.) Some frustrating research finally brought me to HeartCast. I downloaded the app, synced everything up, and voila! I have a recorded heart rate with my cycle workout this morning. Thank you! Take. My. Money. (Donation made) 💯 A+

  • So-So

I was happy to find an app that will finally connect my Apple Watch to my Peloton Bike. The problem is it is only worked two times. I can’t seem to get the app to stay on or stay connected to the bike. I’ve checked all the settings I’ve done all of the troubleshooting it has directed me to, and still it won’t connect and read my heart rate. I don’t know if there is a glitch or an update that needs to occur to fix this, but I truly wish it would. Because this is a much cheaper alternative then having to buy the Peloton bike+. Please creators or someone tell me what I’m doing wrong or fix this issue.

Hi StacieW76, based on your previously successful usage we are confident we can resolve any issues you're having quickly. Please send us an email: contact@heartcast.app or a message on Instagram @HeartCastApp - Quick diagnosis: Ensure that HeartCast is not paired directly with your Peloton under Bluetooth Settings. If it is, press forget. Instead, connect to HeartCast before each ride under "heart rate monitor" settings. Also, press cancel to ignore any pairing requests that Peloton makes in the future. :)
  • Buggy.. but not connecting to Peloton

First let me say I love this app… It saved me at least $600 from buying a Bike +... I was mainly concerned about connecting my Apple Watch to the Peli...It does that just fine… What I have found is I have issues sometimes just connecting the watch to the app… I have had to restart my Watch in order to connect the two together… Occasionally what will happen is I will open HC on the watch, then open the HC app on the phone but as soon as I try to press start on the watch the phone will switch to loading mode.. and once it loads as soon as I raise my wrist on the phone to start, it will divert back to loading on the phone…They will not connect. I have to restart my watch in order to get them to connect/pair again... once they are paired it’s no problem connecting them to the Peloton heart rate monitor in the “ start class modal”...Thoughts?

Hi Jlbeau!, thank you for the fantastic review. I appreciate that even though you're having some challenges. I'd love to help you in realtime, please send us an email: contact@heartcast.app or message us on instagram @HeartCastApp - Regarding connectivity between the Watch and iPhone, you should never need to restart the Watch. Perhaps try force restarting HeartCast app on the watch. Instructions here: http://help.heartcast.app/#force-restart - The messages you've described are natural. There is sometimes a delay while HeartCast on the Watch is loading heart rate data from the Apple Watch, during this time we display a warning message to help users. However, once heart rate data is loading, that message will go away automatically. Please do send us a note, happy to troubleshoot this with you further.
  • Ok, UX isn’t intuitive

First, thanks for creating this app! Awesome to see someone put the time in to develop this workaround.

My experience was that the initial setup for the app isn’t intuitive. Here are the steps I went thru:

    1) downloaded app on phone and watch
    2) opened app on watch
    3) opened app on phone
    4) “started” app on watch
    5) went to Bluetooth settings on peloton and paired “Heartcast - <name>” with the bike
    6) observed that heartcast intermittently would connect with peloton or not at all
    7) unpaired heartcast with peloton
    8) started class and in the class start modal attempted to select heartcast as heart rate monitor
    9) observed that bike wouldn’t connect anymore with heartcast and that bike was “bricked”
    10) had to shut down peloton and restart
    11) force quit heartcast on phone and watch
    12) repeat steps 2-4
    13) instead of (5), went straight to class and did (8)...without pairing heartcast to the bike
    14) observed that heartcast worked successfully

Ultimately I was able to get everything working but there’s a flaw in app onboarding that 12-14 are the steps that are intended to be followed instead of 5-6. My recommendation would be to force the user into the correct flow with the peloton bike otherwise it appears as though the app doesn’t work (even if it does).

Hope this helps, thanks for the work making this!

Hi Will, thank you for this great review. I'm certain it will help others. You're 100% correct and we apologize that you needed to figure this out by yourself. As you've noted, HeartCast should not be paired directly to the Peloton under Bluetooth settings. Instead, users should connect to HeartCast before each ride by opening Peloton's Heart Rate Monitor settings. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent the direct pairing, which is the method most users expect. We'll continue to work on improving onboarding. Lots of info posted on our website: https://help.heartcast.app ❤️
  • Paid for a competitor but this is the one the actually worked

My Lezyne Macro GPS couldn't complete pairing when using the primary competing app—got stuck at an “enabled” screen that could only be exited by disabling the pair! HeartCast worked immediately (and its relationship with the watch app is way less buggy). Very happy to make the optional upgrade to pro—I just wish I hadn’t spent 5x as much on an alternative that doesn’t work for me!

  • Works Perfectly to connect Peloton standard bike to Watch

    One word - Fantastic!

This app works perfect for connecting the Peloton standard workout bike to the Apple Watch and means I can see the HR on the peloton screen and the HR is recorded to the workout data.

Peloton has brought out a bike + with gym kit which fair enough is a smoother solution but with the help of this app it takes seconds to connect the watch to the bike.

I have used this over 40 times and it has worked flawlessly each and every time.

Thank you to the developer as prior to this the other solution I used was very hit and miss.

Please let me know if you accept donations as I’d like to support you for developing and continuing to work on and improve this app.

  • Just Works

I spent half an hour fiddling with the other app for this purpose on the App Store trying and trying to get it to work with my Peloton before finally giving up. Tried this one and everything just worked on the first try. Happily paid $2 donation for it to upgrade to Pro as it save me buying a heart monitor strap when I already own a great Apple Watch.

  • Connected HR on Apple Watch to Peleton iPad app

Just what I was looking for.

I wanted the heart rate on my new Apple Watch to show up on the Peleton app on my iPad. I was surprised to find that this is not a native capability, but this iPhone app plugs the gap nicely.

How this app works: You’re Apple Watch already streams your heart rate to your phone, then this app takes the live heart rate data on your phone and makes it accessible to the Peleton iPad app (as well as many other apps etc) via bluetooth.

Simple interface, easy to use, no lag, and completely free, no ads.

Hi Salt_n_vinegar, thank you so much for the awesome review! ❤️ We also love this HeartCast, Peloton, iPad use-case and we use it all the time for Peloton floor classes like stretching and barre!
  • Get rid of that uncomfortable chest strap

This is a great alternative to the uncomfortable chest trap and allows you to use your Apple Watch to send your heart rate to the peloton.
    No
I have tried it in both the peloton bike in the peloton tread and it works perfectly in both.

I is significantly better than the competitor and customer service is great so I encourage you to submit the voluntary $1.99 to the developer so that he can keep improving this app as needed.
